Great update. Thanks. In the craxy 70's we'd arm ourselves with shotguns, rifles and had a molitove cocktail setup. Having a heavy plated steel hull though slow provided a little extra security. Doubt I'd carry weapons on a yacht today.

Hi James I first came across your channel about 8 months ago. I was really impressed with the boat and have bought one; delivery in May 22. I was born in the Bahamas which has had its fair share of piracy both historically with the likes of Blackbeard and more recently with drug trafficking during the 70s and 80s. I used to carry a 12 gage pump action with buck shot. Thankfully I never used it in anger and it is an option I don't ever want to rely upon. In my opinion the area you are sailing in is extremely dangerous. Go North my friend. Go Brazil

Something happened and half of what I wrote was deleted. What I was saying is that if you feel safe in Columbia you ought to know you are already in a very dangerous area. Venezuela is a total no go zone and don't think that what happened to Sir Peter Blake was an isolated incident in Brazil. For summer sailing you have the Eastern Seaboard, Maine and Halifax. Alternatively go through the canal up to Vancouver and Alaska. Come and Winter in The Bahamas. No more (or very few) Covid restrictions. Don't know why the equatorial sauna attracts you so much? I have read stories of 50cal military sniper rifles with scopes plus armor piercing rounds and crew onboard with the skills to hit anyone exposed at long range, which should give pause to most pirates, especially after you drop the first two or three of them with a hole the size of your fist in their center of mass. And aiming for those in or around their helm. And then an m79 grenade launcher if they persist in moving even closer. Everyone has the right of self defense. And only fools show up to a gun fight with empty hands or a kitchen knife. I know it's not your standard survival kit for a cruising yacht, but given the fact that the world has increasingly become a far more dangerous place especially for those unable or unwilling to defend themselves, their loved ones, or their property and freedom, one has to make decisions about the rules of engagement for that type of challenge.
