I think if the casinos would only build a garage specifically for armored car pickups and have a special secured walkway from the cash register department then it would solve lots of robberies. Another idea is to have a drive-in station for armored car similar to drive-in banking whereby a drawer pops out into a hole in the armored car to slide money bags into it.

No mention of Vigoa growing up in Cuba and being recruited to Soviet special forces. He came to the US by raft on a whim while visiting his family in Cuba. When he was on trial, special handcuffs had to be used that completely covered his hands and kept them at his waist. He was deadly, even when handcuffed. "Storming Las Vegas" was an interesting read.

I can see if they have no choice, but if a robber has a gun pointed at you and especially if your gun is holstered, why would you risk your life for someone else's money? Not even making $30/hr but you're going to start a shootout with somoene who has the drop on you and every reason to shoot to kill if you start shooting? If you give it up with no fight, they just walk away. Would anyone blame them if they just got down on the ground when they saw the gun pointed ta them?

The initial failure to investigate the watchman at the storage yard was a major problem. More robberies and murders resulted from that negligence. That should have been realized by the investigator and the case manager at the time. Allowing it to be noted in this show either shows they knew they would not be held accountable or they simply didnt see it as a major omission in their investigation. Says a lot about the loss of respect for the FBI in recent years.

@@SpaceCadet4Jesus It was included in the show so it was from someone's notes. The fact the investigator didnt follow up and the case manager didnt catch it is inexcusable, especially considering the victims after that and the fact he turned out to be part of the gang. His prints or DNA may have been on the stolen plates. A lot of information was missed, victims were killed and time and resources expended because somebody did a shoddy job initially. As a former case manager, thats exactly the kind of loose end it was my job to wrap up. Every lead was on a spread sheet and assigned, then remarks added after follow up. A glance at the spread sheet would show no remarks meaning it was not followed up. No excuse for an experienced squad to miss things like that. They hadnt yet identified any suspects and the plates were the first lead in that direction. They may have missed fingerprints, DNA, video footage, a suspect interview. Any of those could have lead to earlier arrests and avoided all the crimes that followed.

@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv 10 ай бұрын
Sure it was an issue to not have looked into him deeper at the storage yard but the idea that would’ve entirely prevented things is silly. All they had at that point is that a license plate was stolen from a disabled vehicle being kept there. That wasn’t some huge thing that would’ve locked him up. Optimistically the best outcome could’ve been finding his DNA on the plate and using that to try and tie him to the robbery. But even then that’s weak to try and get him for anything major. It would be easy to simply put off the plate as having touched it during the time the car was there - it wouldn’t have had any major teeth to really get him for anything above possibly stealing the truck. It’s a lot harder to convict people than many seem to believe it is. Hunches don’t function as hard evidence to convict people of major crimes.

The re enactment of the guard who was killed after enguaging and shooting 1 of them doesnt do the guard justice. He was a tall, skinny kid, like a real cowboy and he took his job seriously. A nice young man who lost his life because he had a lot of guts. READ the book; STORMING LAS VEGAS to learn the most of this case. It was way deeper than portrait here. Ps God bless you, young gun slinger, my hats off to you...

"He was a tall, skinny kid, like a real cowboy" - anyone else notice a problem with this sentence? When are cowboys ever "skinny"?
@Mark-gg6iy
@Mark-gg6iy 2 жыл бұрын
@@mekkimaru2365 Go back 100 yrs and you will not recognize the size of Americans then and now. Skinny is often a synonym for "fit" as the Brits say. Skinny can definitely be relatively equated to "healthy" in modern lingo given there are so many morbidly obese Americans.

Very well done on the documentary . The bastards that killed those security officers should of fried no plea deal . They get to live . Its too bad the security officer drew his weapon and fired they should of just backed off and let them have the money. That money is not worth losing your life over. If they started shooting first then hell yeah start shooting .

Yes and no. LEOs are as disgusted as the rest of us when evidence or cases are tossed out by a judge, often due to technicalities as simple as a typo. Arresting someone means that the LEOs must provide the suspect's attorneys with ALL of the evidence against them. #1, This gives them time to fabricate a "plausible" alternate explanation for the "evidence." #2, If (probably) the evidence is not sufficient to end in a conviction, the criminals have been "schooled" in how Law Enforcement works.., giving them the time and knowhow for avoiding arrest in the future, by adjusting their behavior, to eliminate any more forensic evidence being left at the crime scene. However, after collecting the water bottle, two weeks were spent on the "surveillance" of the suspect. Surely, a discarded cigarette butt, a coffee cup, another drink container, or any other discards.., including items retrieved from the suspect's weekly trash, (ruled legal -- without a warrant -- once it has been placed on a public street for pick-up) would have provided matching DNA evidence. There is no excuse for dropping THAT ball... 😤

Important lesson: Instead of leaving a business card and never following up, maybe question the suspect. At worst they get spooked and dont escalate their crimes to murder
