@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv 10 ай бұрын
He was a suspect for multiple reasons. For one it wasn’t his police force investigating the crime, it was the FBI. The reputation as a whole for corrupt police in those departments wasn’t a secret so a force like the FBI suspected them. He was also a suspect because the robbery pointed to inside knowledge - an outsider wouldn’t have known of the specifics like they did such as the alarm or the steps to break into the vault. He was also on duty that weekend. So it’s not necessarily that his force always knew, although they probably did, but it was the FBI. The other challenge is they’re so locked into their union that it isn’t easy to simply fire them. They’d need a strong amount of proof of corruption to fire him so rumors and hunches wouldn’t have been enough fo just kick him off. Suspicions don’t account for much if you can’t rock solid prove them otherwise the union is gonna fight you off.

I’m glad that not very many criminals are as smart and disciplined as these guys were. Pretty impressive actually.

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps ? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea !" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why ?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"

When sociopaths get in positions of power. Very bad things happen. And these are the stories where they get caught. Probably less than half of the reality

I remember a story on the news here about an honest geologist getting pushed out of a helicopter to his death. I can't remember now if that was Indonesia or PNG. I guess it may have been Michael de Guzman pulling yet another deception.
