Steve Smith stairs still take a while to get up, almost the same as regular walking. scaffolding is easy to craft, and is much faster

Here in Germany we also have some of those three walled elevators. There are called paternosters here. But it is really difficult to find a real working one, because most of them are shut of due to safety reasons

thats the problem i had, because i want to cover the redstone up, so im just gonna see if theres another way Edit: i just changed the daylight sensor to a observer looking at a water fall, then a piston interrupts it for a second EDIT: i made this even better by replacing the water with a lot of hoppers, basically a comparator at the bottom senses the item in the hopper, then that hopper goes into a dropper, which sends the item into a soulsand water jet, making it go up to another hopper, which goes into the first dropper. if you want to see a picture because this sounds confusing, DM me on discord and i will show you pictures of it, my discord is krustylesponge#8462

I worked for an elevator manufacturing and installation company for a while and you do get a lot of elevators that have an open face where you can see the wall move past you when you go up and down. The way they prevent a kids foot or hand getting stuck in that area is by using an infrared curtain that's cast by two long bars along the sides of the opening. The elevator stops when the sensors are triggered and resumes a few seconds after the obstruction is removed. They are also extremely easy to build and wire up, the dude I worked for did it all in his garage.

Water, to send a signal up. At the bottom of a column of water, move a magma block into it so that it forms a bubble column. At the top, an observer will detect that the water has changed. Air, sending a signal down. At the bottom are two daylight sensors, and comparing the signal. At the top, you move a block above one of them, so that it emits less power.

the simple minecart elevator is what i have used from 1.12.2 to 1.16 snapshot 20w29a when going up going down i easily built a contraption for that Mumbo jumbo takes things in ways too complicated to understand lol still fun to watch the final result

Heard the Dutch Angel Dragon well. I’m think you could create a “Moses bridge” where the bridge actually sits in a small trench with water running over it. The the bridge activates, pistons close the sluices and the water dries up. Either by observers or a chain of repeaters you could time it so the bridge only begins to rise once the water clears. The sea parts, the bridge rises, your people escape the Egyptians.

I started playing Minecraft before Redstone was even in the game, but I've not kept up to date on what can be done (seriously, the most up to date redstone block I've used is a comparator ) and all this stuff with slime blocks and honey blows my mind.

Hey Mumbo! If you’re reading this, you can fix the terra-cotta elevator walls problem by removing the honey blocks that open the elevator doors and instead use 2 sticky pistons. Because slime blocks don’t attach to extended pistons, firing the pistons before the elevator begins moving resolves the issue. I rebuilt the elevator and added some bits and bobs, but consequently made it a huge redstone mess. Thanks for the design though!
