I am sharing some tips that I have used in my home to help create a simple and realistic approach to kids toys. I also share the toys I find actually get used and we have kept in our toy collection.
Children thrive in a simple environment where their imaginations and creativity can run wild. Literally as I write this, my kiddos are making a fort out of blankets and pillows and making up a whole story line with each other. It is beautiful to see.
When we overwhelm them with too many toys and an overstimulating environment, we create a space that is hard for them to focus and create positive playtime.
As always, sending all my light. With love and peace~🤍

I’ve got rid of all the wooden toys because my toddler was throwing them at mirrors, screens and people around. Also I find wooden toys quite heavyweight for babies.

We have a similar mindset towards toys. We actually started minimalism before having a family but really, really pushed further when the first kid was born. We were very cautious about what we let in. We add: instruments, jigsaws, board games and books. We have strict boundaries with how much we keep of each thing and we can clean up at any given time in ten minutes. We were at a friends house this week and my daughter (almost 4) whispered to me that the host‘s toys were too loud for her (they have several electronic toys that make noises). So… kids don’t actually need them, they get used to loud toys. When we compare our kids‘ gifts for Christmas (actually just one „classical“ toy each) to other people I sometimes wonder how many trash they produce. I also buy gifts Second Hand most of the times. And outdoor things are the only toys we will get in between (like when the old scooter gets too small or my son wants to start rollerblading so I bought some for spring on an online marketplace). Stop: one addition. They also get their fathers old toys in between. My in-laws kept a lot. And before we throw it away we let our kids test it as long as it is high quality and not toxic (Legos from the 90s, board games and jigsaw puzzles).

After the holidays we’ve just been bombarded with toys with very small pieces - they do the dump, not play with and let mom clean up thing. I’ve put those away it’s just been too much. I still struggle with getting rid of more because I try and justify it even though I know they don’t play with it!

Just found your channel and it looks like I found it at the perfect time. I found minimalism before having children and I knew I wanted to continue with it after having my kids. But I recently was doing a toy rotation and got overcame with thoughts that maybe they didn’t have enough. This video is a great reminder that what I’m promoting is play and tranquility in my home. If you do a toy rotation and have an organization system that works, I would love to see it in a future video! Thanks again

I conciously know that my 18 months old doesn't need much, I observe a lot and get rid of what he's not interested in (any more). But still I find it very hard to not bring in new toys at random times of the year. I see a lot of things elsewhere and I find my family buys a lot for him (that stays at their place), and somehow I find myself feeling bad because I don't get him these things he likes. I guess I am influenced by others.

It is very easy to be influenced by others, but I think as moms we know what our children truly need. I think it is important to find what truly works for our families and brings peace into our homes. 🤍I wish you the best!

Maybe you could try bringing stuff in with a monthly limit. One book a month, one toy a month, one extra on special occasions. (At the same time you can have 1 out policy and get rid of 1 toy a month or every third) You keep the freedom to get new and exciting stuff for your child, either if you see something neat or they ask for something. Teaches them moderation and does not fill the house up as fast. And keep strict rules for family and enforce them rigerously. Especially grandparents can react badly. Ask them to always ask before buying, have some rules for what kind of toy is not okay and if they want to really just bring something with them, my niecces are nuts for nuts. (They are not allowed many sweets, so a pack of mixed nuts is a treat for them too.)

If they aren't at your house, it's more exciting when they go to their house. That said, if its like duplo or pencils or something like that, its generally safe to keep them at every house lol.
