I celebrated my 31st birthday with complete strangers at a bar. I did meet a gal who was annoying and shallow, and the next morning did convince me to call this gal I'd met a few months prior. We've been married 15 years now. So, my 31st birthday sticks with me more than most.

Great to hear you are talking about this! I started scheduling monthly parties because I realized my male friends were struggling. It ended up bringing them together more. The parties were really just time at a local pub. They turned out to be 50/50 (male/female), which is perfectly fine. It takes some resolve, since it will take time to get the regulars, but this helps combat loneliness and I would recommend it to anyone that is struggling.

Loneliness has been a big issue for me since moving to a new city 3 years ago. Throw in the fact that the world is only just starting to get back to, "Normal". For a while there it was hard (and risky) to guess which people had any i terest in being social. Now it's like my socializing muscles have atrophied. Appreciate when you do videos like this. Even just seeing that I'm not the only one dealing with it offers a degree of comfort

My loneliness comes from mostly business related things. I wear every single hat in my company as I am it's only employee, customer service rep, human resources, advertising agent, manager and owner. I don't have a family, or know many associates who are business owners themselves. It's hard to find the mentorship and motivation most days..

Wow. I've said it several times before but I'll say it again: you have found your calling. There are so many young men out there who need a role model, and you are such a great antidote to some of the others whom I won't mention (one of whom was recently released from a Romanian prison and is, for some reason, a hero to some very misguided people). Keep up the good work, hermano. I'm sure you know enough Spanish to know what that word means. :)

I just went thru my 3rd divorce and my last divorce I’ve lost my kids and wife. And we had moved away from our small town to a very big city I was actually homeless I didn’t know anyone here and lost everything. Even my job I felt very alone for a entire year I recently found a older guy that took me in due to being homeless in the desert. I just work and sleep and yes I’m very alone. Thank you for sharing this info. Much appreciated.

This is such a powerful topic that I had to leave a comment (even though I’m a mom and not a gent, I love your videos!) Your experience growing up struck such a similar chord with me. I was homeschooled and isolated and it was very lonely growing up. I only had my siblings to play with, and no one my age to talk to. My parents were very introverted, and the complete opposite of me. Listening to you talk makes me realize how I developed similar coping skills. I grew up loving Star Wars and my 2 brothers and I would set up huge bases with action figures and play with Star Wars action figures and have battles. When I was alone I’d set up my toy horses outside and play by myself. I played with toys far longer than anyone I know of because my stuffed animals all had names, personalities, and they were my “friends” when I had none. I even had a father figure among my stuffed animals that I would have “take care” of the rest which must have filled a neglected void in my subconscious. I became a voracious reader and would sit under trees with a stack of books. I began journaling at age 8 and have been consistent ever since, so a great deal of my life is documented. I learned to be comfortable with myself, to sit and listen to my own thoughts as I processed them. I learned how to train my inner voice to be more positive and uplifting, to be an encouraging coach instead of a depressed, negative hamster-wheel of thoughts. I’m honestly considering joining BetterHelp to help me work through some of the childhood wounding I’ve experienced and it’s just hard to work through it alone or through reading books. I really appreciate your videos. ❤

As depressing as it may seem for other people, I find that the best way to deal wih loneliness is to simply ignore it. Even if you enjoy spending time with other people you need to take a break from socializing and do your own thing, "For every minute you spend with others is another minute you need for yourself and vice versa." I understand it is a major issue for other people, I've dealt with it many times in the past, but as long as you do simple outdoor activities such as walking, yardwork, or even simply driving to do errands you will get enough doses of company through indirect and direct interaction with strangers until your next social event.

I completely agree with making connections with younger people and toxic relationships. During covid, I made friends with a great bunch of guys that are 20 years younger than me. They made me feel young and it has been fun. As time has gone on, out of the 15 of us, 4 of us have become the closest mates and would always be there for each other no matter what. And toxic relationships. The hardest thing I have ever done was recognising the toxic relationship with my parents and my sisters. 6 years ago I left after trying to discuss my feelings with them all and they completely dismissed everything and gaslit me. There are days where I miss them but overall it was the biggest weight off my shoulders and since then I have been able to sore to the highest of heights without them holding me down. I don't recommend people to leave their parents because it's hard but if the relationship is toxic, communicate with them, see their reactions to how you feel and if they won't support or try to work on the relationship, get the hell outta dodge and later you will be better for it.

It is tough at times and crazy how life changes. During High School and College I was very social and had a nice circle of friends who stayed in contact then fast forward suddenly most stop reaching out and no longer seem to really care about friendship but rather work and family instead which is understandable. I stay optimistic that perhaps someday I'll reconnect with someone like before but for awhile I've been focusing on myself and doing some of the simple hobbies I enjoy to keep my mind and body productive and in good spirits so I really value this video. By the way I was seeing a therapist for awhile and it really does help. Thanks Antonio!

Thanks Antonio. Sometimes I think it's just not worth the day to day grind. I have always been fine being by myself, but the worst part is that I came back to the US, and specifically my home state to be near my family, but they couldn't be bothered. Didn't matter what I did, how generous I tried to be, what lengths I went to. They just couldn't care less. Since then I moved to another state far away and no matter what I do, I just can't make friends. It's really tough because, when I lived abroad, I had a lot of friends, many of them pretty close friends, but for the life of me I can't connect with people here.

I'm wondering if Antonio could organize a virtual social, or get followers to meet up in different states/parts of the world. The lockdowns have made a lot of humans less prone to socializing. It would be good to get together with more like-minded people (those who wish to have a healthy social life).

As a middle aged man whose had a few tough guy jobs, suffered through two lay offs, three brutal divorces, and came home from a war a mess, you have my respect for making mental health a focus for this video. Men are struggling hard out there, and there is little to no assistance. I know, as I am a former cop who had to go through the emasculating and embarrassing process of separating from a dangerous woman. Without professional counseling I would not be here today and would not have helped the countless people I have in the years since I returned from the war. Thank you.

I completely understand this concept of loneliness. I lost my three closest friends, all of whom I had grown up with from primary school; one of whom I was best man at his wedding, within six months. Two died in a plane crash & the other via suicide. That was in the nineties. We were always in contact mainly through phone but always getting together physically when possible. I have never attempted that type of relationship since. Do I have acquaintances but no one is allowed to get as close to me those three.

I run into so many vets daily......I do the best I can for them.....Myself all my family have passed nd my wife of 18 yrs..divorced moved away in a abrupt way. I work 6-7 days a week covering for other doctors for I have no life really. I got a few more years then I retire.......I think many many more people then we realize feel alone.......My grandmother told me when I was young...when you met strangers be kind for they are struggling with things too. My faith in the Lord is what keeps me going...He has been so good to me..every time I get to a place where I am not sue what to do almost if by magic something pops into my head and I go with it....I am amazed that the lord would care for just a normal person like myself ...he actually feels like my best friend........its very over whelming at times.....I learned that there is no coincidences in life...

I frequently choose to ride Amtrak back to Connecticut from visiting my sister in North Carolina. Not only do I love to stare out the window, see America, and be one with my thoughts, I have met some really interesting people on the train. For some reason trains make people very chatty, much more than on flights, and as an introverted person, I find there seems to be no pressure just having a casual conversation with a stranger. It's really something special to connect with someone and enjoy your short time together.

100% agree with you. I love being alone, the best period of my life was when I was living in a farm in the mountains far from the city and people. Never felt so content. Now it's a bit more difficult and I feel extremely lonely and worthless when I don't take the time just to ride and explore around. It's a bit hard for me to separate work and free time, always thinking about getting things done fast, therefore not enjoying the process. Today I had to ride two hours to go to the vet and I decided to really take time and enjoy the ride, went to a coffee shop and now on my way to check some paints for my home. It just feels good, finally relaxing, taking the time to do things is amazing. I also know that when I have those moments, it has a great impact on my work. I feel calmer, more motivated and efficient at work. Fellows, take your time. I know most of us have to work and during our days off we have to clean around the home, meal prep, deal with broken stuff...etc but don't forget to enjoy the process, take 10 minutes to seat near the window when it's sunny outside, drink your coffee slowly...etc Don't forget that everything has pros and cons, being alone as well. You will always have some days you'll feel a bit down, but tomorrow will be a new day. Take care of yourselves, mates 🤝

Fantastic video as per usual. This is definitely a topic that not many are willing to talk about. For me personally, I think in part of my autism, no kid ever wanted to be around me so the way I dealt with that at an early age was playing video games. I found it extremely important to entertain myself in some way because I had to assume I will never have a friend so I needed to be comfortable with that early on in life.

Thanks for sharing this video antonio, appreciated this peek into your life. Ive often been on the outside for much of my life, never really properly fitting in becasue i was very lean and skinny with no muscle or really shy and a little awkward and was never a drinker so didnt really do parties and have social anxiety. But i read voraciously, workout 4-5 times a week and definitely prefer my own company and that of my wifes, prefering to keep to ourselves with a small group of friends. But since ive been 16 ive been committed to self growth, finishing post secondary education and going to my masters, working on my charisma, conversational skills, and politeness taking courses on these important attributes and dressing as polished as i can. A big thanks to you for being a big component of my journey.

Antonio!! Love the way you presented this video with sincerity. Well, their is a line of work that is actually lonely as well. My line of work as a working pianist. You are actually the lead instrument and you have other people that are relying on you to make decisions and tuning them up you are the one that does that as a pianist. Also it is an independent job as well. We love to bee with ourselves and working even though we are with people we love that space. Also i love what you said about getting out their and doing stuff yourself, cause I am that type of guy who will do that. That explains why I am still single and proud of it. I don’t want to bee tied down to someone who needs my every attention. I want to bee able to get on a bus or so and go. When i am out, I love to bee with myself. It is a special time I just love that company with myself and yes. Of course i love being around other people and socializing with them but really, when I am out I love to do things myself it makes me feel great and very independent and also I am a totally blind business owner who owns their own business. I am a working pianist and I guess you can say I am like my instrument. I love to bee alone and independent. When it is time to bee with others, i will bee with them and talk with them of course. But finding someone to do something with or being with people every second of the day is not my forte. Hahahaha. When i was growing up though it felt like the opposite. I wanted people to bee around me every second of the day and though I was popular in school people would talk to me but then would not want to do things with me when they said they were going to take me out and have fun with them it would never happen. Well, as an adult, I have embraced being alone and getting into work and business. Bro it feels great to bee alone and know that you are at the top of your game. And other people see it and get inspired. I have nobody that is holding me back, I am doing what I want in life, and getting out their and being myself. Every time i see someone or am around them better said, I tell them “bee you and keep being you.” I encourage them and i have one of the most happiest lives yes we all have our days were something bugs us of course but you learn to deal with it and move on.

Love your videos on mental health-related topics, Antonio. I'm doing a Master's in Psychiatry (and hopefully next year, a PhD in Clinical Psychology), and I've learned some great things from your videos, things that really made certain topics "click" for me. For example, I recall in one video you discussed how sometimes, just doing meaningful activities with other men can be psychotherapeutic. I really found that hit home for me when I went on a beautiful hike with some of my best friends. Also in this video, I appreciated what you said about treating the negative, self-destructive voice in your head as if it's some crazy person, rather than yourself. It reminds me of how Dr. Jordan Peterson says to treat yourself as if you are a collection of people/personalities to be negotiated with. I've struggled with depression since I was a child, and negative self-talk is certainly the worst driver of it for me. Learning to think of that voice as if it's another person, and learning to think of the positive voices as people within me I can negotiate with for a better future has been really helpful. Thanks for all your work Antonio, you're doing great things for other men.

It’s true what you said at the beginning , I may only have a few very close friends that moved away Much happier with that than being with the wrong people

Antonio, I know I’m really late to the party on this video but I can really relate to growing up lonesome. I remember playing with action figures longer than my peers did, and developing grand set pieces and elaborate battles, finding solace in the written word, and even the loneliness I felt in military and now civilian leadership, and having a rough home life….and I’ve come to some of the same conclusions as you, and I’ve learned a lot from your introspection and fearless openness that extends far beyond upscaling my wardrobe.

I think part of this is knowing your own personality type, and how much interaction, and of what kind, you actually WANT. We all need SOME, but that cold be relatively minor like clubs or teams for some of us. We're not all party animals or family men...

I don't know if you are an introvert but that describes me; I actually prefer less social contact although I do have a few close friends. However, no matter which end of the spectrum, we all do need some socializing at some point, what varies is how often people like to have that contact.

I’ve been passively watching your channel as I am a Financial Professional and fashion is important. Initially, my intuition was that you were a genuine person. However, after watching this video, I must say that you are a Gentleman and a Prince. “There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”-Earnest Hemingway

good video. being an only child myself, the aspect of learning to occupy oneself was a big thing when I was a boy. grew up feeling outcasted due to being a redhead. got into skateboarding in my teens yet still felt like an outcast amongst the outcasts! go figure. past 12 years I’ve been a bowling mechanic. a lone worker. learning to occupy myself and be by myself as a child prepped me for my current job. spending upwards of 8 hours completely solo at work has never been an issue. but admittedly made easier now I go home to my wife and children whom I love with all my heart. being alone at work is even easier knowing I have them to return to every day.

"Memphis Belle" is an excellent movie in terms of the burden of command. Both in terms of the pilot of the "Belle" and the Bomber Group commander. Highly recommend. The story is quite a bit fictionalized from the real Memphis Belle, but it's still a great watch.
