It's even more than that. Snyder pitched his idea for new Star Wars movies and Disney said pass. Rebel Moon was the result of that rejection. Instead they gave the creative keys to Star Wars franchise to JJ Abrams, who has shown he doesn't really have the time to dig into the lore of the IPs he's in charge of (just take a look at what he did to Star Trek Into Darkness, and what happened to Star Wars makes total sense).

One reason I'm down with this is that he does have a game plan. He's worked up a Rebel Moon "Bible" of over 400 pages. They have the history and mythology of this universe going back over 1000 years before the timeline of this 2-part movie. They can go many directions with this. I hope they can do this. Star Wars didn't have a plan and ran out of steam.

BTW this will in be theaters one week prior to the Dec 22 Netflix release. Also, as a huge Star Wars fan (my fav IP), I'm so excited to see this project. Is it heavily influenced thematically and visually by SW? Yes. Is that a bad thing? No!!! Star Wars, let's be real, is HUGELY influenced by many other things including Dune, Buck Rogers, Akira Kurosawa's films like Seven Samurai all mixed together with some themes taken from Christianity mythos. Like I said I'm a HUGE SW fan and respect what George Lucas (and equally his wife at the time who REALLY fixed it) did and I'm looking forward to more projects aside from official SW projects to spring from the IP. All that said, this needs to embrace it's influences and not run from comparisons BUT also stand on it's own as a well-written and engaging story.

This looks amazing and I hope it's a 10/10 like Joe predicted, but I'll be happy with it being 8 or 9/10. I haven't seen anything from Zach Snyder, in my opinion, that would even come close to being less than 8/10. I'm so going to enjoy this first part of Rebel Moon. I'm going to finish my run through of Exorcist movies and the TV show to watch the new Exorcist movie. Then I'm going to watch Den of Thieves and then Army of the Dead just so I feel caught up with Synder's projects before Rebel Moon. Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌out.

I think Games Workshop might sue somebody. Those uniforms, flags and armor look awfully similar to that worn by the Astra Mili-, sorry, Imperial Guard.
