I had the honor of celebrating 4th of July with Rudy and a bunch of other badass brothers in Ocean Beach(San Diego). His energy is real and contagious. RIP to our brothers Art Espinosa(Marine Sniper) and Tony Chavez(Green Beret/Delta) that have died since that epic night.

He’s been in shape for damn near 20+ years at this point. In the show “Generation Kill” in which came out in 2008 and played himself, he was in the same shape. In the book of the same name, it showed pictures of him in Iraq in 2003 and he was still in the same shape. He also enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1998, just to give some perspective for how long he’s been going at it

I'm much that way, was always, due childhood bereavement. My advice: Try and mix with these kind of people. They're less an obstacle to your own courage than you think. It's probably subjectivity that holds us back.

I didn’t even catch that, Rudy scares me with how energetic and happy he is. I’ve been around real killers before and this dude has a different presence to him. This guy lived, breathed and ate despair, it’s just something you can tell about some guys. To be able to show this amount of positivity is a sign of obscene mental toughness or that he’s fucking insane.

I read an article about this soldier in Rolling Stone back in 2003 I think, fruity Rudy they called him. It's great to see he made it, I'm glad for him. He motivated me because of the fact that he was mexican as I am, and the physical and mental endurance that people can have during stressful times and environments. Peace.
