Recover is now offering a cantilever red dot mount for the 20/20 Glock chassis. It almost totally solves the issues with using irons or a slide mounted red dot with the basic chassis kit.
But I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to do with this thing.

One thing to consider is, not everyone is great at shooting pistols. I can't ever seem to shoot accurate. With that said, by allowing me to have 2 grips (magazine holder and pistol handle) and using the brace. This greatly improves range accuracy. I believe that's the purpose of the recover 20/21. But i do appreciate the honest review.

As a poor boy, I like that it turns a gun I already have into something new instead of having to buy a whole new $500+ gun. The kit is cheap but also sturdy and reliable. Best way to look at it if you have a Glock already is it's a under $200 pistol caliber PDW with Glocks reliability.

Also the holster it comes with basically lets you holster a pdw even if you got a suppressor, outside waist band or leg drop. A good setup would be 66 rounds (two 33 rd mags) of 9 mm suppressed glock pdw holstered wasit band or leg drop which every you prefer, a backup 6 shot 357 magnum on your ankle, and your primary a AR pistol or rifle.

Due to long work hours, I often end up caring for my chickens late in the evening after dark. On more than one occassion I've been outside when a pack of coyotes started howling across the street on my neighbors property; I'm guessing maybe 50 to 100 yards away. I've even had them come as close as 20-25 yards on my property and whistle/whine hiding in the tall grass. Although I doubt that they would bother me I can't say the same for my animals. My Gen 3 G17 with the recover tactical kit, olight Baldr weapon light, and holosun 507c mounted on the upper rail has been my "go to" weapon system to carry in these cases. It's super light, it doesn't scare my neighbors if they happen to drive by, and, with the paddle holster, I can keep working with my pets without it being in my way. I could certainly just use my pistol without the brace but I appreciate the added control, accessory mounting options, and included minimalist sling, that come with the use of the recover tactical kit.

I’m gonna plead personal preference when it comes to the recover tactical brace 😂. It works for me just fine. I’m glad you did an update video on it. The red dot mount helps a lot There are no situations where this couldn’t be switched with a regular pcc but like you said, it’s affordable and if you have an extra Glock, why not 🤷🏾‍♂️.

I like mine as well. I also realized the issue when shooting with night vision, but what I did was just not use the charging handle. The thing is, your gun locks back anyways so you only need the slide release. If you do malfunction, you still have plenty of grip on the slide to clear it. Stock glocks really don't malfunction I think because the brace on the frame really makes the slide reciprocate hard. Although I think that my M11 (Mac) does the role a lot better if I had to choose only one. But it is a few hundred dollars more than the recover setup if you consider you need to mount a grip and a silencer rail to fully get the same benefits. I would definitely take the recover over an UZI, MP5, UMP9, Vector, or other large SMG platforms that basically are the same size as a blackout SBR.

It amazing how well this works if you use it as a brace instead of a stock. You can't seat it like a rifle butt. Grip it as close to a normal shooting grip as possible. Draw the pistol towards your chest while keeping the same sight picture... when it makes contact near your collarbone, that's your stance... or it just don't fit you. Great channel, great vids.

Going back to this after a time, I had wanted to get the FLUX but couldn't justify the price and switching over to a P320 since I already got tons of Glock mags. This IS meant for a specific purpose and it's to turn one of my Glock 19s into a dedicated SHTF backpack gun I can take out that's low enough profile than my shorty AR-15 that is not only heavy but also paints a larger target on me if I decide to actually use it vs a "get home gun". A shorty 11.5 inch AR with a LAW folder limits the type of bags you can carry and there's the weight and size of the many spare mags you need to carry around. Sure A G19 with 2 spare mags is also some weight and if I plan to keep this, I would be using the officially Glock 33 round extended mag, a bunch of 9mm mags will also be carrying a lot of weight but if I set expectations for what purpose is this gun, then I know exactly what I'm in for. It is NOT a go to war gun. It's an emergency gun that will give me extra firepower than a standalone pistol. I know some people, who thinks they are John Wick with handguns but let's be real. NONE of us can ever be John Wick level of good. A pistol can only fight so much especially if you are overwhelmed. A PDW 9mm gun even one in the same barrel length will give you more to fight your way out of something

I'm actually working on getting a replacement optics rail (since they sent me one for the smaller 20/20 kit) for my 20/21 kit I put my Glock 40 into. Figure it'd be a great PDW setup with a Romeo 5 on it, and while I can get my face low enough to use irons, I can totally get why most folks couldn't do it comfortably. Doesn't exactly make for the fastest aiming since getting your head low enough takes a second. Also glad to see I'm not the only one who uses their off-hand to throw the brace open from the foregrip position instead of using the dumb nub to open it.

My biggest gripe with Glock/P320 based "PDW" thingys is that there is no external safety. Slinging one of these is a real worrisome way to have something on your gear make it inside the trigger guard. Some piece of plastic that flips up and blocks the trigger is essential in my mind. Mind you, thats not an issue when you keep your regular Glock in your hand or in a holster.

Someone worked out that you can remove the trigger guard from the paddle holster that is sold with the kit and run that on the chassis by itself. It's a small c clip style of block that's held on by friction on the guard so you can attach some cord to it to make ripping it off easier or attaching it to your lack or whatever. An on board safety would be better but it's doable for some

Alot of people just saying "build an ar9 or go pdw". But if ur doing an ar 9 chances are u want something small and suppressed for maneuverability reasons. Realistically you are not shooting a 9mm anything over 100 yards and shooting further you are reaching for 556, 300, and so on. So whats the difference between a 5 inch handgun and 5 inch ar9... well more points or contact and control so I don't see why thing or a micro conversion wouldn't be a smart choice cause you can take your glock 19 out and conceal then at home slap it back in and have your home defense gun at a much cheaper price point

@@rdsmith334 you should check out Doc Gary Robert's work on terminal ballistics. You'll be surprised at how close the actual effects are between something like 9x19 and 10mm auto. The only thing 10mm offers in reality is better penetration which depending on where you live and what you expect to do (ie shooting bears or through car doors) could be a good reason to go for 10mm. But in terms of actual damage to organs in a human, you're getting almost the same performance out of any pistol, but slower follow up shots and less capacity the bigger you go.

I have a 20/21 with a Glock 30S with extended Barrel and comp. It works great. It doesnt feel so awkward like this doofus makes it out to be. Hes intentionally making it look awkward, or, maybe its his birdcage and anorexic arms that are the problem. The system is solid and only flexes if you really put alot of effort into it, under normal hold there is absolutely no flex. The pic rail is solid as well, but a bit high. I think an optic on the pic rail is good for zeroing past 100 yards while keeping the irons for close range under the optic. Or, I installed tall sihhts and made a huge difference with the hold. No need for a slide mounted optic with tall irons. A laser is also a great addition to this setup. I currently have a rifle laser/light and works great with a grip control. It can be holstered, sling is still in its package, never used it. This is now my woods setup running 45super. Its amazing.

I find it kinda funny how stocked handguns are making a comeback. Every handgun in the early 1900s had a stock; the Borchardt C93, the C96, the Luger, and the FN Model 1903, just to name a few, only for the concept to be almost ditched. Now here we are, 100 years later, realizing how practical it is to have a compact, stable firing platform, that’s lighter than most SMGs and SBRs. I just hope Beretta starts selling the Raffica’s stock and foregrip, so we can slap it on the M9A4.

It's cool but personally I think it's use would be best for someone who actually uses the brace like the ATF wishes we would. Or maybe for when you are shooting at a target a fair distance (for a pistol) away and can take the time to unfold it and shoulder it in order to get another point of contact - giving a bit more stability for the shot. I think best pairing would probably be with something like a Glock 40 for when out in hog or bear country because it looks like you can still fire the pistol if you were being charged at even with the brace folded.

I have no trouble using the iron sights . You do have to adjust your shooting tech. The same way as when you shoot a Keltec Sub 2000. And the brace does not hurt when I shoot it as one reviewer whined about. And you will be more accurate at longer range . I like it .

Hop looks pretty tall. This brace should be fine for tiny people. And it make sense for real spec ops as a quiet gun for guard/dog disposal and shooting lights out, because it weighs not much more than a standard pistol, kinda stable, can mount a suppressor and be carried on a hip. Or it's cheaper to buy this kit and Glock auto sear (for LE/Military) than a whole new toy like 2500$ B&T MP9.

Crazy idea… cut the brace off and you got a race gun optic mount with holster option. Make it metal. Fix the flex, and option for rmr/pic mount. Save on milling the slide, still have irons, and don’t have to waste money on changing holsters if you change optics or lights.

After going to a big homeschool convention in a major city, seeing the 150+ yard shots that could happen in the convention center and while touring around the city plazas and urban parks with my family, I've been thinking about getting something with a stock and, ideally, better ballistics than my pistol BUT I also have little kids hanging off me, diaper bags, AND all the crap my wife purchased along the way. My backpack is full. An SBR even with a folding stick takes up basically the whole bag. I can't carry TWO backpacks, one JUST for a rifle lol. So these pistol chassis like the flux raider have caught my eye. But the raider is stupid expensive and you still have to supply a gun to go with it. You've basically had to spend $1500 to get it set up. I have a spare Glock already so this is very interesting BUT I'm deeply concerned that it doesn't have a manual safety...so this is probably a no go for me.

Glock 34 or 17 with a threaded barrel, Griffin EZ Lok adapter w/CGS Mod9SK, TLR9 maybe?, Aimpoint or Fakepoint, and a sling. I do kinda like BrassFacts theory on these as a PDW. I think it needs to be suppressed and needs to be considered an ultra light off body carry. Basically being okay with it being more overt is a requirement for it to make sense.

Since the pistol is pretty much dedicated to the brace, I wonder if the red dot mounts that mount to the slide back plate/rear sight dove rail would actually be better. They have a slight rise but not as much as that 1980's scout/race mount abomination. Strike Industry G-SURF comes to mind as an option. Although it'd obviously limit NV use...

I have tried all of the "Braced pistol PDW" options. While interesting and some were definitively more practical than others ( cough, Flux Brace, cough) I just could not reconcile their use for my purposes. So I instead opted to go with a B&T TP9 equipped with a Vortex S.P.A.R.C. red dot with an A3 Tactical folding brace. The result while definitely not cheap by anyone's stretch of the imagination was a very lightweight, well balanced, low recoil, very practical, and compact quick into action 9mm PDW with an admittedly awful trigger on par with an HK MP5K, but still very ergonomically correct and easy enough to shoot exceptionally accurately. The weight difference between the proven HK MP5K ( or clone) and the B&T TP 9 is not insubstantial. The TP9 is a whole 2 pounds lighter, though the recoil of both platforms is strikingly similar, smooth and exceptionally controllable for both. The Braced TP9 handles like a dream, conceals easily under a lightweight jacket with the flush-fit 15 round magazine inserted, and inside of a re-purposed laptop/messenger bag with the 30 round magazine equipped. Like the MP5K, it is very easy to transition from target to target quickly and apply accurate fire, but one will have to train to the heavy trigger on either. Thankfully the trigger is a straight in-line "sliding" action as opposed to a pivoting action so while it's not super fast it does not really change the point of aim if the shooter performs an "overly enthusiastic" pull of said trigger. The Braced Glock and SIG pistols are not at all "bad" ( Well *some* are legitimately AWFUL.), but they are definitely not a "replacement" or "stand-in" to a good purpose-built 9mm PDW. *There sadly is no such thing as a "Cheap 9mm PDW", and there is no such thing as an "Ersatz 9mm PDW". You either have a 9mm PDW or you have an adapted pistol which ranges from "uncomfortable but handy /practical", all the way to "Useless piece of Tacti-Crap /Snake Oil".* It's a LOT like Night Vision Devices.. you can have good, you can have cheap, but you're not getting both, you have to pick One.

There is a cheap 9mm "PDW", masterpiece arms. They even have an "uzi pro" mini clone which is great with a brace and silencer. And macs are probably one of the easiest guns to make. You can make the entire thing from scratch for less than $50 of materials, and plenty of various build plans and template designs you can download in PDF form online. Chambered in 22TCM, it's basically a better MP7 if you want power and small size over capacity.
@reignick1133
@reignick1133 2 жыл бұрын
@@DaveSmith-cp5kj Masterpiece arms creations are MAC clones.. and not particularly good ones. Even if they were exceptionally built living up to the company name? The MAC 10 and MAC 11 are products of their time.. bulky, remarkably heavy, high on recoil due to being blowback, short travel and HIGH Weight for that bolt. You can update such but like the micro Uzi? They were good for the 1970's and 1980's but take a lot of work to modernize and for frankly dollar for dollar and hours spent? A rather poor and ill fitting choice of Psuedo PDW. The braced conventional pistol is a more practical, more ergonomically correct more compact, lower recoil, lower effort and lower cost option compared to a MAC clone.
@DaveSmith-cp5kj
@DaveSmith-cp5kj 2 жыл бұрын
@@reignick1133 Have you ever actually shot a M11? The recoil between the two are nearly identical, and the bolt weight is also nearly the same. The advantage of the TP9 is not in recoil it is in managing ejection port gassing, which for the most part isn't really an issue. The M11 is basically the same weight as the TP9 but a lot smaller. Even more so with their mini mac. The M11 is known for being light because it had to pass the AW ban back in the day. Masterpiece is known for incredibly good clones, I'm not sure why you say they are bad.

@@DaveSmith-cp5kj To answer your first question? Yes and I was throughly unimpressed though amused by the high ROF. As for your comparison ? Pretty sure ya don't want to go there : a MAC 11 in *380 ACP* is of roughly similar weight to a TP9 in *9mm NATO* but even then ? The MAC 11 in a lesser caliber is still *over half a pound heavier for ZERO benefit gained.* and this is notably Before any modifications or the addition of a brace to the MAC 11. But even weight and general dirth of viable accessory options for the MAC 10 & 11 notwithstanding? *What you have presented here is a bit of a bit of a facetious non-argument driven by personal investment.* As for masterpiece arms? They could not even solve the trigger slap issue.. Their "solution"?: They put a cheap piece of aquarium pump hose over the trigger. Truly the mark of a well made firearm.. cheap plastic tubing placed on the gun in the most Bubba of manners to solve a problem which can be actually solved by a fairly low ammount of time in AutoCAD. The MAC 10 and MAC 11 in their original open bolt full auto design specifications were passably adequate for their era.. *That era was 40 years ago.* They still make for great range toys, but are sorely lacking as a viable PDW solution. You can press them into that role, I am not saying it's "impossible", bit it's a lot like having a Ford Model T as adaily driver. It's foolish, really not recommended and just not up to the modern day task and purpose. Enjoy it all you like, I'll gladly encourage such, but to say that it's a viable "Cheap PDW" in this age is a stretch too far. By the time you are done with modernizing updating and in some cases of Masterpiece Arms occasionally spotty work repairing that MAC clone to fit the purpose? You would have spent far less money, effort and time on even a braced traditional pistol or braced large frame semi auto like a PSA AK V, or a shorter pistol caliber AR 15.
@reignick1133
@reignick1133 2 жыл бұрын
@@DaveSmith-cp5kj as an addendum and to reduce "wall-o-text" post length: the 9mm version of the MAC 11 ? It has a heavier bolt than the .380 ACP variant and being direct blowback? Trying to compare it to the rotating barrel of the TP9 does the MAC 11 9mm zero favors. The TP9 is lighter and has less recoil. Yet again however : if you like the MAC? Sure ,have a blast with it. But it's just not a good viable suggestion for the role of a serious hard use PDW as it have been outclassed even by the humble (but shockingly viable) Ruger PC charger pistol with a folding brace.

Help!!! What conversion kit is best for my needs?? I'm set on the micro roni for now but I'm open t any brain tickling. Im going to make it simple , in south africa its alot easier to get a license for a handgun and a bolt action rifle than for a self loading carbine. Thus all the continuous loops one has to jump through its just not worth it for me personally to go the Assault Rifle route, if i could id go with a good old fasioned reliable Galil. So I'm stuck with a handgun, im happy , i can defend myself and my family , but now with a possible looming genocide at our doorstep it takes things up a notch . That and the fact that i want my daughters to be able to shoot from a young age + my love for simplistic modular logistics has got me set on one platform , one model firearm, one type of magazine, one type of ammo and the good old 3rd gen G17 is the platform i chose , i can own up to 4 fire arms without any special "status" thus my idea is for me and the wife to each eventually have 3X G17 and a bolt action rifle of the same model, but not sure about the calibre or model yet. Our kits will be identical and will consist of the following, it will be one G17 as a sidearm , one G17 in a conversion kit used as our primary firearm. We will each or just one of us be lugging around the bolt action rifles for 700m+ ranges when going into hiding in nature as we have wide open slightly hilly plains . The 3rd G17 we each have will also be in a conversion kit and it wil be with one of our daughters , we have 2 girls so it works out perfectly. That's 4 firearms each and a complete "defensive starter pack" with good built in logistical support. That is the end goal but for now finances have me limited to just one G17 and we getting a conversion kit asap so the kids can also hold and use the firearm proficiently when im away as currently my 10yearold daughter is a bit skinny and unstable to fire the G17 in handgun format, she can rack it though 👏👍
