Being following Leeds since 1972 & I've watched our great club fall behind in the last 20-30-40 years due to lack of PROPER investment. Now we have a great set-up regarding the 49er's with Red Bull now on board, our future is looking great in that we might win a few trophies but as usual civil war always breaks out among the fanbase when things are just starting to bright up. Like you said Ger, this club's name (FA rules) & home strip are set in stone while the ground naming rights (financial gains) & away strip are always up for discussion. Anybody whinging about splashes of red on the white strip need their heads examined because that's a sad problem to worry about while I would like the ALL YELLOW to be brought back as our official away strip & never ever be binned again. As a Dub, I've enjoyed winning a few All-Irelands in recent times but it be nice if Leeds could win a few trophies before I die 😢 MOT

Never is a strong and uninformed word. At some stage when we are back in the premier league and stadium has been redeveloped and we have a side and squad confident of staying in the premier league. The 49ers will at some stage cash in their investment and remember 49ers investment company is the name on the tin and an investment means cashing in for profits. However when this/if it happens it will be at least 10 years and I’m concentrating on what happens over the next 12 months and not 10 years. If it does happen it will be brilliant and have us on a par with PSG, Man City, Newcastle, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid… so lets chill a bit

As an outsider, I can totally understand the worry. But RB clearly sees an investment opportunity from a club that is fairly unique in the EFL. A big city with one club with incredibly passionate fans. Anybody looking to make some money in football would invest in a team like Leeds because there is almost only upside. However, what does tens of millions of dollars do for RB? It puts their foot in the door for EFL. It might be their best option to get in that market.

You have to wonder whether Championship clubs have become more desirable in the case of advertising due to the increase in the amount of televised games on sky. I understand they were still keen probably more so if we got up, meaning a more lucrative deal. But being in the championship wasn't as big a deal as it may have been.

Thanks for the update Ger, but I'm seeing estimates of £10-15 million per year not £200 million over three years. Man City's deal with Etihad is worth £67.5 million annually and we're literally not in the same league as them

The full deal rumour is 200 to 260 million. I'd assume that also includes the equity purchased. Still money coming into the club that can be used.

@LeedsUnitedTheView A good shirt deal for a Championship side would be £15 million per year, round it up to £50 million for three years. If the rumoured deal is worth £200-£260 million then that means Red Bull would have equity of £150-£210 million which would probably be around half the value of the club. Yet no seat on the board and labelled a minority share holder. Something wrong somewhere Ger

@@bungabening3530 yeah I'd agree. As I mentioned the numbers are rumoured. But they could include any amount of extras, stadium placement, they've also taken over the drinks sponsorship and are covering men and woman's sides.

I'm old enough to remember us playing in red. The reason was most people in the early 1970s still had black & white TVs so one team had to wear a bright colour and their opponents a dark colour. No objections that I can remember.

Has no one thought of the jean Kevin Augustin angle here ? It was RB Leipzig we owed money to right ? Id be frankly amazed if dissolving that fee to them wasn't part of this deal. Also I don't understand the concern ? Sq ball guys a little bit over reactive I thought. If they wanted to change to "the elland road red bull stadium" and we got like 30 mil+ a year for it probably more I don't know what Etihad gives city. But we can't have it Both ways we can't be successful in modern football without selling a bit of your soul. The question is how much do you want it...?

The figures aren't cheap by any stretch of the imagination. .ore a case of single city club, redevelopment plans around the ground, one of the most shown teams on TV.
