Lisa (Rachel McAdams) writes a message on the bathroom window, but Jack (Cillian Murphy) finds out.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Terror rides the night skies in this thriller from horror auteur Wes Craven. Lisa Reisert (Rachel McAdams) is a young woman with more than her share of anxieties about flying. However, when circumstances demand she go to Miami, she gathers her nerves and books a seat on a late-night flight. Sitting next to her is a handsome and charming man named Jackson (Cillian Murphy), whom she already met in the airport, but once their jet is safely in the air, Lisa discovers he's not the pleasant traveling companion she imagined. Jackson is part of a terrorist cell plotting to kill the head of Homeland Security, and he's decided to draft Lisa into helping him. While Lisa has no interest in abetting Jackson's plan, he soon reveals he's holding a trump card -- his compatriots are holding Lisa's father hostage, and will kill him if she doesn't cooperate. Red Eye was the first feature film credit for screenwriter Carl Ellsworth, who previously scripted episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Xena: Warrior Princess.

Cillian is a brilliant actor , he is extremely charismatic and you would never guess he would be a psycho . It's really fascinating how he's this sweet gentleman for a second , then he completely changes into a manipulative cold hearted mofo . He did a really good job in The Dark Knight as well .

Can we please talk about how soft and protective his voice gets there for a tiny little moment when he asks her "Someone do that to you?" I know afterwards it goes right back to cold anger because she lied to him. But just for a split second there he seems to struggle with himself actually being really fond of her and having to go through with his job...

@@aala6859 A few months late but in the beginning of the movie when they're boarding the plane and he pretends to bump into her, he offers to buy her a drink. At this point, we don't know that he's been following her around and spying on her, what she likes, dislikes, etc. so he correctly "guesses" that she'd like a sea breeze. Even though that's her favorite drink, she doesn't trust the guy and lies about something as simple as preferring a bay breeze, which puts him off or annoys him because he knows the truth. I think all in all, this entire scenario is supposed to represent how he can't fully manipulate her and how she isn't as weak-willed as he thinks she is. The sea breeze, bay breeze thing is like a metaphor.

I love how Craven always puts in some kind of violent element like him choking her or when he ruthlessly head butts her and his head starts bleeding, Murphy played a menacing villain and she was so cute and innocent

Reading these comments makes me realize that many people, apparently, have a hard time discerning the difference between sexual tension and good acting chemistry. All chemistry doesn't have to be romantic or sexual. These two are amazing actors and are showing what it is to watch two people living in their characters so fully that we're enthralled-- by how genuine their emotions are in every moment, as well as how mesmerizing it is to watch two actors work off of each other so perfectly.

For those who don't LIKE this pairing. Just some quotes from Wes Craven, the director of this film. "I think it is completely possible if you extended those characters because they had such incredible chemistry. Whether those two actors would want to come back again or would be affordable, I don't know. But I thought it would be fascinating to have something like Rippner being held hostage by the government and needing her help for some reason. So they get thrown into bed together, so to speak. In a way that they'd be the oddball duo, they hate each other and eventually become a tight-spun team. I think Carl was sketching out stuff. I know the studio was interested. Rachel would be trickiest for them to get because she has a manager who's extremely cautious about her career. They'd have to have a really terrific script and I'd jump at that job in a minute". Boom. Deal with it.

@@BonBon-od9zm No necessarily true. In the original script Jackson calls her "pretty" in this scene and how it's a real shame things ended up this way. His character was intentionally written and directed as having a one-sided attraction to Lisa. Knowing he could never be normal and have her made him more petty lol (as explained by Wes Craven)

Damn ! This scene was cut too short . Just after this the air hostess tells them to get out of the cubicle and when they do she's says to Cillian " THIS IS NOT A MOTEL" Then Cillian gives her such a heart melting smile , I practically drooled ...omg !
