I'm really looking forward to the scene with Henry talking Star Wars with the little girl. Even thinking about it makes me tear up. Casey wrote one of the most touching scenes when they penned that. As for hopeful scenes... I REALLY want to see the national support for Alex and Henry and Princess Catherine giving Queen Mary the what-for.

As a former Star Wars Fan Club member (family membership back in the 70's and 80's when I was a kid) I have to say I'm most looking forward to the moment with Henry and Claudette, followed by the iconic Power Point scene. I'm just glad it's rated R because I was hoping they wouldn't clean up the language too much. CM's dialog is just so real - making them not swear or say "fudge" wouldn't feel as authentic. Can't wait to see this one! It was one of the first of your book rec vids I saw and still one of my faves (second only to Cemetery Boys so far). 😊

I haven't read the book, but I'm always up for a good rom-com. "I will Brexit your head from your body" will probably be my favorite line.

My first thought when I saw the actor for Alex was that he was too old and too tall. I stand by that, but seeing him in action, I think he really brings Alex's personality to life perfectly. And in an adaptation, that's what's most important.

They are combining Nora and June into one role for the sake of the movie....they are also eliminating some others....and there is one new role that I'm aware of....it's a past partner of Alex's ...not the one in the book but a new take on it....one of the things I said over and over when reading the book was "they'll never get all this into the movie....if they did, it would be like 4-5 hrs long lol. Also, that gray/white, green eyed floof you cuddled is adorable!

I loved this book so much, mostly in the way I could *feel* it. Historically I’ve rarely enjoyed adaptations of books I’ve read first because I get hung up on detail changes. It can be better the further I get from reading, so I’m doing my best to avoid re-reading it. I have to say I think this trailer looks great! It really seems like they’ve captured a lot of it and I appreciate being able to place pretty much everything directly from the book. I’m trying not to get hung up on hoping for my favorite scenes so I don’t get too disappointed if they don’t appear. I’ve been kind of frustrated pre-trailer of people deciding the movie would be terrible because of a few stills and then kind of digging their heels in. Like the fact that Henry isn’t taller than Alex somehow ruins it or claiming there is no chemistry from a photo. I actually decided not to watch the Heartstopper trailer so the season is fresh, which has been a very difficult decision to stick to, let me tell you! But I decided to watch this. And I’ve dissected every minutiae. I think I’m making up for not letting myself watch Heartstopper. It took me over ten minutes to get through my first trailer watch because I kept rewinding 😆. I think it’s going to be great, but I’m trying to keep my hopes level. I’m hoping others can give it a shot as well.

I've watched a bunch of reactions to the trailer and yours is hands down the best (not that I'm surprised). I think the trailer is top notch and I'm now slightly obsessed with it and really looking forward to the film. I've read the book a couple of times and although they've obviously had to make changes (e.g merging June and Nora) it looks as if they've done a really good job with it. I'd much prefer that they focus on making it work as a film rather than just following the book exactly anyway. One question - why doesn't Taylor Z P match your idea of Alex? A few people have said that, but he definitely fits the Alex in my head.

My biggest concerns are 1. where are Cornbread and Stuffing, 2. Have June and Nora been condensed, and if so will this make Nora less of a delightful chaos gremlin person, and 3. Shaan? Where is Shaan and his sweet, sweet ass?

I'm nervous but hopeful about this one. I'm not entirely sure how well some bits will translate given the lack of runtime for the emotional journey at the core of the story, but it is possible to be efficient with screenplays so I'm not writing it off. As an aside, it sort of amuses me that there appears now to be a casting category of 'young queer posh British person' that Gazlitine has claimed as his own. Previously that would have been too niche to exist, yet he seems to be getting plenty of roles from it. I'm taking that as a sign of progress.

Good reaction! I'm really dissappinted that June doesnt seem to be in the movie, I adored their sibling relationship and was really invested in June's mini journey, their mutual over protectiveness of the other, and the article (?) she wrote about the scandal the right way in the end. I still hope she's around. And I hope the run time is at least 2 hours, I find few movies to work well with 1hr30mns, I really want the arch to be fleshed out well and not rush with the events during the scandal, because even though it was the most tense and emotionally draining part of the book it was still my favorite section. Besides that, the film looks super fun and the actors appear to have done a tremendous job. Also, I'd very much like to see the whole turkey fiasco where Alex begs his mom to let the turkeys stay in his room overnight and later deeply regrets it. I specifically want to see a close up of a turkey's face, the camera zooming in, and switching to Alex frozen and wide eyed as he makes eye contact, lmao.

Rwrb was my favourite book of 2019. I devoured it! I'm so happy it's getting an adaptation. 🤩 As someone who's also on the ace spectrum and who gets easily grossed out by sex scenes, I'm a little worried about the R rating (although it makes sense considering the source material). I made a mental note not to watch it with my mom 😀 (not making that mistake again). I tend to enjoy sex scenes in books more than in movies/shows, so we'll see! I have not reread the book, and I definitely forgot some of the details, but I think it's for the best for my enjoyment of the movie. I mostly remember it being really cute, uplifting, inspiring and hopeful. Judging by the trailer, I think the movie will provide all these and more. The only credibility gap I detect is that the main actors are 30ish, a few years older than the 2 boys should be. Alex’s ‘innocence’ (in the book) may not be so readily believable. I have a question, since I don’t know how I feel about this. I have heard that both lead actors are straight, although playing bi and gay characters. On one hand I don’t think I’ll have as deep a connection to the characters knowing this (since I am queer myself, I really relate to queer people playing queer characters) but on the other hand I think that queer parts should not be limited to just queer people (and queer actors should be able to play straight parts) and I’m impressed from the trailer that they have such chemistry and enthusiasm for the roles. In addition I know that many of the other actors are queer, as well as some of the people behind the camera, which is great. So the bottom line is I think I need to widen my emotional connection to include straight actors playing queer roles in a sensitive and realistic way, but I’m not sure how to do that. With new queer shows these days with a mix of queer and straight actors playing queer roles I guess I better figure this out. Thanks for listening to this tome…

I'm probably demi, and love romance books, but definitely skim the sex parts. The best book romances (except for Heartstopper) that are more realistic or have depth, tend to have sex in them.

I honestly can’t count how many times I’ve read this book. And I am trying to be optimistic about the film but it’s not going well for me. First, how can we have the White House trio when they cut out the character of June? And I just don’t see the chemistry between Alex and Henry. Those complaints out of the way, I’ll still be watching it on the 11th. Probably more than once.
