Thank You Aerges for allowing RedKite to do these presentations, couldn't have chosen better one to hype your aircraft and provide tutorials same time! After C-101 it was already promising that Mirage F1 will be great module, and what is already shown now in two videos from RedKite is just jaw dropping. Totally going to prepurchase (already made decision once heard about next project since C-101) and enjoy about it.

@@skyblockpro1 no official suggestion, but it’s evidently near. “2 weeks” very well could be true. Don’t hold your breath, though. It could be released in Q3 2022 for all we know. But that’s unlikely, it’s looking really good and is in ED’s hands for closed testing. Within the next month would be my *guess* .

This module is truly amazing, I particularly appreciate small details like including kneeboard pages with checklists etc. as well as the sounds. I noticed a strange wind noise after take-off - turns out I still had the landing light extended! This light is protruding from the fuselage when extended and produces an increasingly ugly noise above 300kn. I love these details. Listen to your Mirage, if something creaks or rattles she's telling you something isn't right

Great Tutorial. Just one little thing that you mixed up (but don't worry, most people do). The angle of incidence is the angle at which the wing is built onto the plane in referenceto the longitudinal axis. The indication to the left of the HUD displays the angle of attack, the angle between the camber line of the wing (a straight line from leading to trailing edge of the wing) and the relative airflow. Even with zero angle of incidence planes can fly (eg most Extra aerobatics). During flight only the Angle of Attack matters, not the angle of incidence.
@RedKiteRender
@RedKiteRender 2 жыл бұрын
It's referred to as angle of incidence in all the documents, the choice of words was deliberate, but thanks for sharing the overview.
@RaygunGaming
@RaygunGaming 2 жыл бұрын
Interestingly enough, flying with 0 angle of incidence can be done at 0 AoA, provided you have a positively cambered wing. Flying something like an Extra where it's a symmetrical airfoil at 0 incidence, you'd need to rely more on AoA for lift.

Fantastic as always sir. It makes me happy that they gave you early access to the F1. This jet has been on my wish list basically since i began DCS. I am very much looking forward to playing a little Iran-Iraq war reenactments with the F-1 vs. F14 with the guys in my squadron. As soon as this jet hits the store, prerelease or not, I'll be buying it. Same for the F-15 E. (I don't care much about the Mig23, but that's just me.) It should be a big year for DCS if we get half of what most of us hope to get. (South Atlantic fall into an Ocean Razbam?) F-4? I'm loving the AH64, I hear rumors of a OH58, but I think that might have been in the Falkland's when that map feel into the ocean. Oh, and F4U? I guess I'll need to learn to love props. (Love to look at them, and hear them, hate to fly them.) Anyway, thanks again for the great video and keep up the good work.

Nice tutorial Red, looks like a fun jet to fly. A small correction if I may: Angle of incidence is not the same as AoA. It's the angle between the chord line of the wing and the longitudinal axis of the aircraft. So it's a design thing that doesn't change ( unless you pull too hard haha). Also, I must admit I'm not a big fan of the cockpit textures. A classic mistake of skinners in any sim is to make the blacks too dark, which I think happened here too. It doesn't look like a surface that's painted black, but something darker than that. Maybe it's just KZfaq and it will look better in game. Thanks again for the tutorial!
@RedKiteRender
@RedKiteRender 2 жыл бұрын
Have a look at a more recent video's textures! (they're also still too dark, wip) but largely improved. As for aoa / incidence. The gauge is called the angle of incidence in the real aircraft's manuals, so that's what i went with.

@@RedKiteRender I see, perhaps it's 'incidence' in French?
@RedKiteRender

@@ReflectedSimulations I believe that's the case, they use 'incidence' instead of 'angle of attack.' You could argue that's either a translational issue or French flavour! @@RedKiteRender some of them could, i ask because knowing It would help know the timeframe for the CE we're getting since afaik only the 1980 3rd lot CEs could take barax pods

I wish if they'll include the Mirage F-1EQs used in Iraq/Iran war, this type were customized based on the IQAF request to be a multi-role aircraft (Air, ground, sea, advanced warfare) and it's carried that deadly anti-ships missile ( Exocet ) with a great success

@@mudmover3279 True, I'd spoke with a former F-1 pilot he said this version is missing a lot. But still a great add to DCS

There will be F-1E later on which, although not as advanced as the EQ, are much more capable than the CE

Pit looks straight out of 1969-1982 Cold Cold War NATO. What was the original mission of the type? Tactical air sup, point defense, homeland defense interception,? Secondary AG role with French SNEBs? Low level anti-runway with Durandals , suicide missions?

I am wondering how does the plane gets flight path vector measured? (Flight direction displayed on HUD) I thought it comes from INS in planes like A10/F16/etc, but this one doesn’t have INS. Is FPV mark in Mirage F1 relative to the air or to the ground?
@kontiuka
@kontiuka 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe it does a rudimentary calculation using air speed and rate of descent. Total guess.

@@kontiuka Yeah, could also be vane-like device like ones used for AOA measurments. But they will show velocity direction relative to air (but probably could be adjusted for the wind). Let's see, hope the module manual will cover this topic.
