Just got a Red Sea reefer tank a little over a month ago and I’m glad I saw this video because I was actually wondering what exactly ppl were doing to install the roller filters. Great video and also great silicone removal tool to have for all sorts of tank diy projects! Btw I absolutely love my Red Sea reefer xl200 system! Finally have a nice amount of corals transferred over into the system and they look great! The thick extra clear glass really helps the corals shine and show off the true colors. Also great for anyone who does like to keep their tanks on social media the glass panels don’t interfere with the videos much at all. Great work Red Sea

great video thanks for putting that out! about to pull the trigger on the S1000 my only concern is the reef mat is untested in the wild. once to take out the cups there's no going back. lets just hope the RS reef mat lives up to the hype.

ok I finally installed my Reefmat 500. I have to say it wasnt hard. I have used the Modification Kit but it took more then 15 minutes. maybe like 25. BTW love the Reefmat

That thin blade is magic. I did my Reefer 250 V3 while full of water with one of the short thin blades in less than 10 minutes. I couldn't believe how well it worked. I took out all the glass rails too. Now the seam on the left side is no longer perfect though as a chunk came out but it is not the main tank and only I see it. It would be very easy to damage the seal on the left side of sump. I hope I didn't, so far so good. Pull the sump out to get the best look and be the safest.

verry good real nice design only i bought it in Belgium and there was no cutting tools included for the adjustments . overal its a 10/10

I’d like to see him do it when the sump is in the stand full of water. I’d like to see him do it on a 425xl v2 sump. There’s no room to work around getting the 2 pieces of glass cut out. A shorter handle on the knife. Might help so you can hold it more horizontally. I got the cup holders out ok but been working on the glass panels frvan hour!

I have a 300xl, I know you mentioned you don’t have to remove those support glass pieces but would it be problematic to delete the ATO supports as I removed it when going to the filter roller

So you lose the bar that holds the glass for the refugium? Looking forward to the next part of modifying the tubing for the XL425 and installation.

Will wait until they bring this already fitted into sump. Looks like some work to do and not under your stand and hand in water trying to see the blade move through silicon.

I would like to see a video for the second option for keeping the ato. I will be keeping the ATO and the second option states you will need to cut both return lines 🤷‍♂️?

I can't see how this can be done without draining the sump. Surely all the small pieces of silicon would be floating around everywhere and be near impossible to get them all sucked up after the job. Wouldn't fancy small pieces of silicon floating around the tank and getting sucked up in the return pumps and UV's!!

Can you post a video which plans on keeping the Refugium area? Specifically time mark 5:50. This area should be left alone if people want to keep the refugium wall up.

I have the same XL 425 V3 sump and about to start the modification. I was hoping I could keep the refugium baffle but in this video you remove both guides. If this is correct, how to keep using the refugium?

Just use some fine picture frame hanging wire wrapped around a pop stick and pull the wire between the joints. No risk of broken blades, or cuts from slips or trying to hold a razor blade in your hand and no chipped glass or razor corners to the eyes....

I got the reef mat and had to modify my sump. I have a 200xl and the process went smooth but there’s one thing they don’t tell you… when you remove the bubble trap you get so many micro bubbles in your main display! Why would they even say it could be done!? They whole point of the reef mat was to get it crystal clear not make a bigger mess! Please help Red Sea!

Be really careful with the center glass . I cut my finger, and it's deep. I didn't think it was going to cut me . I thought the glass was not sharp because I didn't break anything . Good luck.

Oh dear !!

This absolutely sucked doing it wet and in cabinet. Regardless of what they say I don't recommend. Silicon floats around the system, plus it's extremely difficult to see / ensure you've made all the cuts correctly. Finally, they don't mention you'll need to modify your Reefer intake pipe to fit the ReefMatt hose. I had to saw down my intake, then glue the new fitting while the tank was full. Stressful and don't recommend doing it wet. I'd like to see them do this in 15 minutes in a used sump!

I would not even attempt this with the sump in the cabinet. It definitely would be difficult.
