In this review, I will discuss the trowel in 3 stages. I will talk about the body, show you the trowel in action and provide my personal opinion on the trowel.
The middle of the video is where you see the results. You can see the finish the Refina Superflex provides and see an example of how to get the perfect finish to your plastered walls.
If you follow the advice in this video then you should be able to get amazing results! P.S this is the trowel I actually use for my plastering which explains why I'm passionate about this trowel!

I'm just getting into the plastering trade and working with a chap who's showing me the ropes and he uses a refina super flex and he loves it so I'll be getting me one of them. Love the videos Blaine 👍

Hi mate, thanks for the amazing content. Going to be plastering my first room ever soon, going to get your PFB course to guide me through it... thinking about what I need, I’m happy to invest in good kit from the start. I’m going to get the Marshaltown Permashape 14”for putting on the first two coats which I will flatten with the Speedskim ST. Then would you recommend I get a Refina Superflex 1 to flatter and finish from there? Or get a Superflex 2 or 3 for the intermediate work and get an additional trowel for finishing off such as a plaziflex or something similar? Thanks!

Really likeable young man. Coming back to the UK next year to resume the plastering. did it for 9 year...could you go over each stage individually and what you use for each stage> Cos plastering's changed since I left it

What's the better trowel Refina Superflex or Ox Ultraflex Or are they basically the same I've used the Ox but haven't used the Refina Superflex

just a thought! when I was decorating for a living, taught myself to cut in with both hands. This meant I had to move the hop up less times. Would it be possible to do some things left handed to take the pressure off you joints more? Cross trowel for example. Any thoughts?

What Marshalltown trowel would you recommend for plastering, not finishing. They all seem to say 'finishing' on their website?

I'd get the 14" stainless steel Permashape trowels. They often have a red and gold handle - they are the best mate 👍

Hi mate, I use a Marshalltown trowel for laying on and finishing. Ive been reading your website and i read your review about the Superflex 2 and the fact this is brilliant for flattening and finishing. Would you use the marshalltown for laying on and get the superflex 2 for flattening and finishing ? Then a cross trowel with the nela ? Thank you

Hi mate how's it going?? I would only ever use the Flexi trowels from the second trowel onwards really. I believe that if you use it to early then it will cause movement in your plaster which could create ripples. It's happened to me in the past and it's a nightmare! Hope this helps pal!

HI mate! I've just been trialling the Refina Superflex Spat actually. Its good but I want to try the Speedskim. There good for flattening the plaster but not convinced on finished yet; we'll see mate. I'll be reviewing it soon, just need a bit more time on site so ill keep you updated.

Hi Blanie, Got a ceiling to do ....not massive ceiling.....was thinking about getting the Refina or the ox....Gaz rates the Refina but he gets them for nothing so might be a little biased lol

Hello mate! I prefer the Refina but that's because I'm not a big fan of the handles on the Ox trowels. Other than that they are decent pieces of kit but its just prefernec really pal.

Just wondering if you’ve ever repaired the corner of your trowel? Dropped mine on a tiled floor 😢 don’t know if it can be repaired or if it needs to be replaced?

Hi mate. Great trowel! I always give it a little sand down first - it just makes the breaking in period a lot smoother!

It does need a little bit of sanding mate but not much.

Always used traditional mate but want to give a flex a go. Still rate superflex 2 as the best?

I try to use little water as possible as otherwise i always get water marks, is there anyway to avoid this?

Hi mate! If you get the wall at the right time then you can avoid using water but it's only with small hits that I manage to get that!

Plastering For Beginners hi thanks for replying, i notice on ur first wet trowel u only wet the corner and bottoms, when doing a big set do you ever find u have to wet alot more of the wall as the plaster has gone off more and does doing that affect your finish the reason i ask is because when the plasters gone off abit on me and i have to use more water i find it harder to acheive a smooth finish

Get a plaziflex trowel it will take watermarks out really good trowel
