This pair of white Nenuphar now live in my music room. I'm running them on 3.5 watts of 2A3 to which they respond beautifully. I could not be happier. Thank you Peter for posting this video. It's a very cool thing to be able to share this with my friends. Thank you also Jon.

What kind of music do you listen to ? Just curious can these play rock or metal ?
@michaelrubey61555 жыл бұрын
My opinion....They will play anything but are very refined. You can get Klipsch or JBL or any of many speakers that will play loud distortion in a more cost effective and probably more satisfying way. I listen to 90% acoustic music, but....this is the list of what I play for the uninitiated to blow their minds. Blue Jean Blues by ZZ Top. That slow fat guitar just melts people. Singing Winds Crying Beasts, the first tune on Abraxsis. It has amazing sound staging. It literally sounds forty or fifty feet wide. My room is 13' wide. Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. I have a friend who was a church organist. He got to play this hundred year old pipe organ from Germany in this lovely old church in Kansas. The Nenuphar recreate that live pipe organ in a very satisfying way. But my favorite music currently is small scale classical. Quintets down to solos. Huge Bach fan. And bluegrass/folk-Americana. .

@@michaelrubey6155 What speakers can you compare it to? For example other refined lines like Paradigm Persona or Magico S or M series?

Its undoubtedly First Watt sound

Too glassy in the treble -- like frequencies bouncing off of panes of glass. These may be full range, but there is too much of treble and the rest of the frequencies seem to be somewhat diminished.

It's the room.

Listen to the guy's voices in the room. Whether its the room or the recording, to me very similar tonal balance to the playback.

Although these do not sound as thin as the regular 8inchers do, they're still not exactly "full bodied". I think it's their placement in the room. They always place them like this in the shows and I think this is wrong. I think they'd rather place them closer to the rear walll and, perhaps, "lenghthwise" (against the long wall of the room).

Fucking KZfaq what do you expect Could you put these on your website so we don't have a problem with KZfaq compression with good quality micing just an idea

On second listening, much warmer with the tektron tube anp, warmer than reality, really. Since this is an lp, higher than optimal vertical tracking angle could be a factor..that tilts frequency balance up.

The piano sounds great but the "S"s are terrible. Like you can hear a really bad resonance at about 7 khz (on the "S"s).

I wonder if this youtube demo actually captures any of what this system can do? It has to sound much better than this.

VTA is definitely high.

Did he say the speaker are ported at the bottom a transmission line? How does that sound with that pass Labs amplifier is it just solid state or both, How much do they sell for? If the MOSFETS are not available why can't another company manufacturer them under licence? And could it not be made out of discrete circuitry instead of MOSFET might sound even better. I'm assuming a speaker like that needs a good amplifier because it's very revealing of the electronics of the amplifiers flaws, I remember when they first bought them out there used Italian valve amplifiers to compliment them, have you tried these valve amplifiers out there supposed to be quite reasonably priced I think! valve better than solid state or both. And another thing I don't see anybody else reviewing cube audio speakers just you why is this there's been a lot of shows on the internet nobody else has reviewed them far as I know.

That’s funny I found for different reviews on lone by various ezines, plus Nelson Pass I believe made his own speaker around the driver Are you sure u know what your saying a mosfet is a discrete component , and given Nelson’s buy in the industry if he could get it remade and thought it economically viable I suspect he would , just because it might be able to be remanufactured doesn’t mean it worth ordering the large quantities to keep the price down, and a small order might be too prohibitively expensive Finally there may be IP, that has not been able to reverse engineer,....there can be many reasons why it’s not remanufactured

My description: The loudspeakers bring the sound so uncoloured in an openness where you don't miss anything in terms of sound. These Full range speakers - which do not use crossovers - no longer sound like "loudspeakers", as has always been the case. They sound neutral without adding or removing anything. I describe them with the following words: These music radiators have a: "white sound", that is: All frequency ranges come into their own, with an impulse fidelity that is seldom found in loudspeakers. - What the amplifier delivers, they deliver in a ratio of 1 to 1. The unrestrained speed of the membranes and the 82 strong neodymium magnets bring this ounce of naturalness.

I like these speakers, but.... WHY in heavens name, do we always have to hear this semi intellectual half acostic boring music, through all these widely expensive systems..???

Those are like the Zu Essence on meth. Like it doesn't even sound like the same song when you listen to the source material.
