the piano ,it to bad about that one ,the sound board is cracked ,and the owner just wants me to finish in a black satin lacquer , so we had to take it apart and tape off the inside ,before we strip it ,it will look nice ,but will not sound good ,the string plate needs to be removed and all the cracks need repair ,then sand and varnish the sound board,and restring the piano ,so it will just be a show piece ,that sounds bad ,we will soon be doing videos on that this week

Oh man! That’s really too bad. Actually hurts to hear this. My parents had a grand a bit like that, (not a baby grand and not a concert grand, one that’s size was a bit in the middle) that I learned to play on. I’m a musician, actually a lot like you I think. Well, after I moved out in 79’, they donated it to a church and the church had it totally restored somewhere here in Florida, from a nasty rough flat black finish to a gloss black finish. It was like new inside and out when it was finished and I always thought about what a huge, massive job it must have been. I can’t wait to see any videos on it. Sorry to be so long winded, hope you don’t mind one more question... is satin typically used as the finish on pianos like this? When I think about them, it seems like most I’ve been around had a gloss finish. Thanks Bruce!

i have ways of putting it back on ,with glazes and other finishing stuff ,its not something that someone can do ,you would need to be highly skilled in finishing to do it .
