Refusing to Mend a Fence

The plaintiff was hired by the defendant to build a fence around his property. He claims the defendant’s neighbor got angry about it, and now the defendant isn’t paying him. He’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant doesn’t think she owes anything because she wasn’t happy with the work.

I remember an episode of “Antiques Roadshow” where a man actually brought in two of the little doll characters (Rudolph and Santa) that were actually used to make the film that has been around since 1964. Of course back then, they basically had to pose the dolls, get footage, pose them again, and so on. Seems like the defendant didn't tell him exactly how she wanted the fence and when he was finished she didn't like it. She also didn't pay him for his work and didn't let him fix the bottom board.

I don't think the judgment was fair when he wasn't completely finished, and she didn't give him the opportunity to fix it. I think she left addressing him about her grievances up to her husband the next day, which had him working a full day for nothing. Smh

Next weeks show will have the new fence guy suing her because she didn't pay him the full amount. I think she is a serial offender for refusing to pay trades people what they are owed.

I get the fact that when you put the kickboards so close to the dirt that the fence bottom will start to rot a lot quicker than if you make it higher off the ground. He had a point and apparently years of experience. I would love to have him build a fence for me. Good carpenters are hard to find these days. Young kids don't want to work.

Judge Millie got this one wrong. The plaintiff completed almost the entire fence! And he did a great job for a very cheap price. I had a vinyl fence installed in 2021 and it cost me $12,000. I got bids from the two top rated fence companies. The defendant didn't let him finish. Plus there was no meeting of the minds regarding the kickboard. She didn't convey to him exactly what she wanted. I think the plaintiff was at a disadvantage because English is not his first language and the judge didn't take the time to make sure she was understanding him. And as someone else mentioned... Judge Millie didn't ask for receipts for the amounts this lady claimed to have paid to other people. At minimum, a lazy verdict from Judge Millie.

That isnt a kick board as she calls it on the gate it is the frame. I am sure she didn't tell him of the kick board thing till afterwards. Pay the man he did a great job. Where is the proof this lady paid anything why not ask for receipts like any other case???

sounds like the lady didn't tell him exactly what she wanted. she also seems like a typical Karen. Also, if the 'kick board' is laying on the ground, it won't last as long as it does a few inches up. We don't have 'kick boards' here where I live. ¯\_("/)_/¯

Sorry judge, you are ill informed in the construction of a fence. Not all fences are built with a "rot" board. Many are built with just the fence pickets. Not saying it's right or wrong, but it's the truth.

Here in England 🇬🇧 we have gravel boards and use concrete posts that the gravel boards slide into the posts and then the fence is slid down and sits on top of the gravel boards job done no problem this woman keeps saying kick boards it's the framework that holds in the boards that makes the fence what a 🤡 she is 🇬🇧💚

It's called entitlement do you get it. Under most ares CODES YOU MUST GET PERMISSION AND PERMITS THAT INCLUDE BOTH PROPERTY OWNERS ON COMMON FENCES, WALLS, AND RETAINING WALLS. SOME STATES IF YOUR NOT LIC. BONDED, OR INSURED. YOU CAN HAVE A JIPO CONTRACTOR BUILD ANYTHING AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY HIM FOR HIS WORK. Women have not hurt me they only hurt thereselves.
