Reloading a disposable film camera

In this #shorts video, I show how to reload film in a cheap single-use disposable camera.

With disposable cameras, most pull the film back into the 35mm canister each time you advance, so that when you open the camera up the roll is already rewound. There are two different ways that film is fed when advancing the frames- in a 'feeder cassette' and taped to a spool. This video shows the process using a cassette style.

Has anyone ever told you that your voice sounds a bit like the late comedian Sam Kinnison? Nice insight on reusing the disposable cameras. I had always just raided the flash ones for their battery.. and little circut boards for prank purposes.

What camera is this? I'm trying to reuse a Fujifilm Quicksnap but it's proving to be a lot more difficult than i hoped.

It was a Miley Cirus "Bangerz" camera that I pulled a roll of Fuji Color 200 out of, so I'd imagine it was a repurposed Fuji disposable.

I’m playing around with it right now to see if it will work. I’m pretty sure this will work for the most part.

I’ve taken out the battery, opened it, removed the motherboard and switch pieces. I’m going to pull the film out like the video says, but then feed it through the small slot that goes through the one end (where there film is taken out from) thru to the other end. The only difference is that you would have to make sure the film coils properly, and then try and find a way that the film will not be pulled through unless the spool is turned.

On the Fujifilm Quicksnap, you have to reuse the film cartridge it comes with because the inner-spool has indents that only work on that camera to advance the frame. Also, the back has two tabs that are glued onto the body near the viewfinder, which need to be removed to gain access to reload the film. It's definitely possible, but very tedious. I'll need to try with a new roll of film. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, 36 exp. film rolls feel very tight when winding. It's probably best to stick to 24 exp. just to be safe.

Can you use any iso rating or has it to be the same that was originally in the camera?

You can use a different ISO than what was in the camera, but your images may over or under exposed. The shutter and lens are fixed to operate best within certain a ISO range.
