Adrienette is trashy, unhealthy, its execution made no sense and wasn’t well-developed, and they had to manufacture a tragic backstory for Marinette to give it any interesting-moments whatsoever. Luka and Adrien bonding and sharing their burdens would’ve been sooo much more interesting, especially since they both have daddy issues.

Seeing the way that Ladybug treats Cat noir (she feels annoyed and she get mad because he ruins her plans, plans that she never explains to him) she treats him like a fool, not like a partner. And then the way that Marinette treats Cat Noir, they had deep conversations, and they have fun, but she forgets almost in a second everything she discovers about Cat Noir being Marinette and still keep him in the dark and treat him like a fool.

I think that the Mlb writers are just huge Adrien antifans, so they try to make him least sympathetic possible. When I talk about it to other Lukanette fans we just all don’t see him being an actual nice guy when it comes to relationships

Tho Kagami too gets a similar treatment, as she too is turned into a simp queen for the main OTP. Also the new Felix + Kagami plot feels like coming out of nowhere, to me. The only other time the two met was in "Gabriel Agreste" (S4) in which the angrily glanced at each other for 1 second. NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN he's madly in love with her. He basically kidnaps her, and even if she's got enough common sense to call him out for that, she still falls for him..? 🤨

Luka was originally written to be older. In an old tweet from 2018, Thomas Astruc states Luka is two years older, but I guess he must have gotten backlash over the age gap, so he changed him to being Juleka's twin. I think he deleted the tweet because he got outed, but there are screenshots available on Google.

There was an explanation but it was half assed... Mari was "fine" cuz she focussed on her positive emotions (kinda toxic tbh) to break her connection with Monarch (easy for her cuz she never was fully acumatized before and Hawk Moth didn't know how to connect to her yet. Luca had not 1 but 2 identities to protect. Hawk Moth already knew how to get to him. Once he would resign control to hawk moth there would be no stopping him from going after Mari and Adrian, afterwards everyone close to them (since he knows most other identities too since Miracle queen). Acumatized Luca with all his knowledge (and potentially Sazz's powers) would be unstoppable. Silencer almost beat them, combine it with the power to erase mistakes... Luca was and has the potential to permanently claim MVP status without doing anything

But then again, the writers keep trowing information at us as if it is common knowledge like the fact those two are twins or that they are meant to be a year older than Marinette and co. "Ladybug, who is that?" She gets defensive, saying how she doesn't want to reveal her teammates. He raises an eyebrow. "The moment you say so i delete this moment from time. But if i know you right, then this is not who you think it is." "Luka, what are you talking about?" "You wanted Adrian, didn't you?" She stumbles backwards. "How..." "That isn't Adrian. He wasn't on that train. I don't know who that is but someone already impersonated Adrian once and hurt all of you! I am not allowing that again." Chat noit steps forward. "Felix?" LB gives the peacock to Felix, trusting him to protect himself and everyone like him but to never use the powers to harm the innocent. He is still angry but gives in, thanking her and turning a mew leaf. Adrian and Kagami are still shaken up by the reveal but Luka takes care of them, convincing them they are real people, no matter how they came into being. That they deserve to be happy. That their hearts have a tune like everyone else. And that Mari and Master Fu were right to trust them. Kagami falls for him in that time and they leave to travel together while Adrian goes to Marinette, confesses to her that he loved her since she first allowed herself to be free, that she was who set him free from all the pressure his father put him under. They kiss and as they part all their friends as couples are around them, celebrating. A bit apart from them stand Kagami and Luka, his eyes meet the pair in the centre, he winks before leaving with his girlfriend. His mission is completed. Everyone he cares for is on their right path and his path is next to him, rambling about all the things she wants to try. He listens and makes a mental list for her, smiling.

The final reason why I dropped the show. I knew Luka + Marinette wouldn't be endgame but they could've had at least one or two episodes of them being happy together and show that Marinette was actually capable of liking someone besides Adrien but *nope*. Luka was my favourite character but the show refused to develop him as an actual character. :(

Right? I'm not understanding Thomas' character writing. Most of them feels flat and tied to 1 or 2 words. Even Marionette feels a bit flat at times.

Luka went from a very chill character in Season 3 to one who completely flips out repeatedly in Season 4 & 5.

Couple things wrong here. First, while Luka and Marinette had feelings for each other, you're kidding yourself if you believe she was actually IN LOVE with him. Luka was in love, Marinette was attracted. IN S3/4, she understood that her love for Adrien was getting her nowhere and as he was "taken" so to speak, she decided to try and move on thus dating Luka. Now, for you to say the only reason she broke up with Luka was because "she had a secret she couldn't tell him" is seriously baseline. The REAL reason she broke up with luka is 1. She was never IN LOVE with him in the first place. Having feelings doesn't equate to love. 2. It wasn't simply about having a secret. It was about not being able to 100% be herself or trust him. Imagine being with someone you constantly have to hide a part of yourself from. Not only was it unfair to him, but how long can you even respect someone with that type of dynamic? That bit about Marinette "resuming to chasing Adrien"? You clearly have missed the first 10 episodes because she's legitimately doing the OPPOSITE! Adrien is chasing her after being healed from his blindness. So no, your looking at things way too surface level which...doesn't shock me as 80% of the fandom tends to do just that. Seriously, I should start a course on "Media literacy for Miraculous ladybug"

Let me elaborate: Mari was portrayed for a long time as being in love WITH BOTH. There was absolutely no difference - other than your own personal preference for one of the ships - that could make you tell "oh, yeah she only has feelings for one but she's def in love with the other". The only big difference was that she was able to talk to Luka, but that in and of itself doesn't mean it couldn't be genuine love: just that he was able to put her at ease. I also stand by my statement that the sole reason why Mari and Luka broke up in "Truth" was bc of her secret. Nowhere in that episode we get to see that she somehow realizes "oh this isn't real love". We are presented with a series of scenes in which the two seem the happiest couple in Paris, they can talk about anything and always have a good time... they were about to kiss in the cinema and it didn't look forced. Literally, the ONLY obstacle to their relationship in that episode is her being Ladybug, and Gabriel seemingly being on an akuma-frenzy which basically prevented Mari from being able to have time for Luka. She wasn't even thinking of dumping him: it was Luka who felt she was hiding something from him, and that made him feel unconfortable. He thought she was still thinking of Adrien, and she explicitly denied that. They do not break up bc she somehow realizes that Adrien is the one and only: that never happens in "Truth". They break up bc she has a secret, which is seriously getting in the way of their relationship, and Luka isn't OK with that. She never indulged in thinking of Adrien for one second in "Truth". This leads to Mari undergoing a personal crisis, as she realizes she won't be able to be in any relationship bc of her duties as hero and guardian. Later in "Crocoduel" this is simply retconned: there is NO MENTION of the secret as an obstacle to the relationship, not even in private dialogues between Alya and Mari. That issue is simply neglected as if it never played any part in the breakup. Mari just states that Luka is in love with her, but she'll never feel the same. She is only in love with Adrien. Now, since you're convinced it's a matter of text comprehension, please let me know at what point in "Truth" Marinette finds herself thinking about Adrien. I went through the episode script one more time, she mentions Adrien once and it's merely the recurring gag of her having his photos in her room and being embarassed by that. She does call Luka "Adrien" once in the scene, but again, it's part of the gag. She does not think of Adrien when she's about to kiss Luka at the theatre or during any other of their dates. I'll give you one thing tho: I'll admit she doesn't exactly *immediately* go back pursuing Adrien, I probably fast forwarded that part in my head.

You basically skip over how Lukanette even got started and play off one of the most telling scenes as a gag when it’s not. Let’s go back to where this all started: Season 3. In S3 when Marinette first meets Luka, she’s charmed. He’s sweet, understanding, and she probably thinks he’s kinda cute. During this time, Adrien has a serious infatuation with Kagami and Marinette’s going through a crisis because of that. Once she backs off after understanding what a dick move it is to sabotage someone else’s relationship, THAT’S when Lukanette takes off. Her logic is “I can’t even talk to Adrien. At least with Luka, I can actually talk to him”. In the finale, her body language is still very much sad because she’s still hurt by the fact Adrien is dating another girl that isn’t her but then she listens to Luka’s song, smiles a bit, and you can see she’s trying to make herself feel better. She’s appreciative for Luka but STILL SAD. You COULD call it a rebound. I won’t because there where actual feelings involved. She liked Luka and wasn’t just using him but to say she loved him is just crazy. Not once did she say she love him or even elude to such a thing. They did NOT talk about everything. Hell, she’s told CHAT NOIR more about her personal feelings than Luka. So going off everything I’ve said and your whole statement about “Crocoduel” (minus the retcon), and the fact that Hawkmoth was running her crazy and making keeping her secret all the more difficult, it all falls together nicely. Lukanette was legit doomed to fail from the start. Last thing, the pictures. She calls Luka Adrien. Not because of a gag but because SHE EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO SOMEONE ELSE! You take a teenage girl who’s in love and has been obsessing about one guy for months, throw in some random guy and think she falls head over heels? That makes total sense 🙄. What makes this worse is that Luka knew this. He intentionally dated a girl he was aware wasn’t in love with him and emotionally attached to someone else. It’s pretty tragic. So yeah, it’s not that I can’t take opinions it’s just that I see yours is filled with holes. The media literacy thing isn’t me insulting you, that’s just a fandom wide problem. 80% of the mlb fandom thinks about things so surface level and doesn’t bother to present other facts unless it fits their agenda. Here’s just a random example of how the fandom overlooks things all the time right? So in a season 5 episode (I forget which) Adrien gives Nathalie a pink lily on her tray. Pink lilies are meant to symbolize femininity and fertility. We know in canon that Adrien has researched flowers extensively and knows their meaning. Therefore, we can infer that Adrien gave Nathalie that flower believing that her illness is linked to Nathalie being “pregnant”. These are the details that a lot of the fandom misses when discussing plot lines and story details or just pass off as gag or coincidence. If there’s anything we should all know about mlb, NOTHING is coincidental.

I still disagree, but I'm not going to invoke some kind of superiority in my interpretation - as I said, what you just described still makes sense to me, and at the end of the day we're just having diverging interpretations of the same thing. I get it you didn't mean it as an insult, but complaining about a lack of media literacy in others in this kind of discussion does come across as pretentious.

I think they're grooming him for that role. Just the way he's been mentoring everyone to find their inner melody.

Preach... they deserved better. I think Chloe and Sabrina both deserved proper arcs. Giving up on someone isn't something Marinette and Ladybug should stand for. Yes, she can struggle, she can fail, but giving up? Hell no. For that almost all characters are too nuanced for. I kinda loved how instead of calling Lila Chloe at first wanted to call Sabrina for help. It was sad how she then instead called Mari. Admitting she needs help could be the first step of her new redemption (she'd deserve another chance, asking for help, mending her relationship with Zoe and Sabrina, getting off of her high horse...)

Chloe was probably the most human character in the show.

No shade but I still can't grasp why people thought chloe was actually going to have a redemption arc? Sure she had her pretty moments in the season but nothing really changed, she still behaved like dogshit most of the time, a couple of ''good'' moments wasn't going to save her

We all know why Luka was written out and not both him and Kagami. He's a white male.

Adrien didn't have much of a reaction to finding out his identity is compromised... oh and everyone forgot that they are supposed to give up their miraculous if that happens.

Spoiler alert from the leaks: In the finale he comes back. He did some guardien training stuff in Brazil with Su-Han and then joins the final battle. It was never explained why Su-Han followed him and decided to train him, but my guess is they might do an episode about how that came to be next season maybe?

I need that. Along with Luka getting Kagami and Felix together cuz that relationship is just not realistically developed. At first Kagami thinks he's a creep for following her around but then kisses him before the finale? Where was that switch flipped? When did Kagami realise her "Love" for Adrian was just a feeling of being able to relate to another, that Felix is his true authentic self, all she was looking for in Adrian?

Yeah, that would be so much better than the cheap "oh I heard Marinette and Alya talking" excuse. He could have also got Kagami and Felix together as the other guy said, since we didn't see any development between them at all. Luka had a lot of potential and would make the final 3 episodes much better

Ikr? I swear Astruc hates Adrien and Chloe. He did Adrien and Chloe dirty this season. Adrien / Cat Noir, THE MAIN PROTAGONIST, was not included during the final battle holy shit. And instead of giving Chloe a redemption arc, which we all want as a fanbase, he fucking made Gabriel redeem himself wtf

@@sunglory4488 Yeah, chloe is just a teenage girl with an abusive mom. I don't think she experienced genuine love ever and, episode 25 spoilers, I felt really bad for her when stopped at Sabrina's contact and cried. Gabriel on the other hand, is just a piece of shit who justifies putting innocent people's life in danger, destroying the city and MURDER, just because he wants to reunite with his dead wife. Ridiculous. I heard that Marinette as a character is a reference to Astruc and his highschool crush's imaginary daughter. That's why Astruc is giving Marinette all the spotlight, that's why SHE is the savior of the day. And since Chloe has been her bully for years, Astruc now just straight up hates his own character. How can someone hate their own creation?? Instead of stopping being a simp and trying to be a good writer (just give Chloe her redemption arc for fucks sake) he introduced a new character, Zoe! Chloe is a much better character than Zoe. Chloe has better backstory, not better but more personality, played more role in the series and has a lot of potential. Zoe's only personality is being nice and being part of the Marinette's harem.

Have better writing and really treat each charecter better and much more of worth. I'm hoping things will look better for Chloe and even Zoe, If she's gonna be there I hope she gets proper story and charecter builds.

Chloe redemption truthers would like a word with you

The time to save a character or plot is in the writing stage. Once it's rendered and gone to air it's too late. The only hope left is that maybe they'll do better in the inevitable reboot.

Luckily, they are getting a new writing team but it won't do Chloe stans any good. I'm highkey praying they write her ass off so we can finally stop the Chloe discourse.
