This video is about repairing a broken tape inside a recordable or pre-recorded Digital Compact Cassette.
How to open and close the shell successfully including the spring and metal lid.
My Brother DCC (Leon) had the skills and patience to help out.
We used quite a few tapes to figure out how it can be replicated the best way.

I had 3 BASF tapes where the tape itself came loose from the spool, I guess due to the shock at the end of rewinding. So was able to repair all of them, thanks to this video.

Fantastic! Probably I'll never buy those beautifully looking DCCs but I love to watch your videos. I noticed he put back just one of the two plastic sheets inside the cassette. Maybe he forgot the other one. Anyways, great job.

Thanks. We actually had to open it up after the video as the tape started at side B. So we had to flip the spools and in the meantime added the plastic sheet as well.

Interesting project, great job putting it on video. These cassettes are a marvel. Could be interesting if any variations are discovered that went away from the standard shell design? Maybe see-through shells or with a window? Because the slider moves sideways it was a bit tricky to built standard front door loading mechanisms, portret cassette loading was introduced i guess. It is definitely a better system than a (VHS & V2000) Video cassette had, although an Elcaset had none.

Great job. Plastic glue cases are very annoying. Sony did that in CC cassette .

I noticed that he flipped over the spools from left to right, That's the reason the deck started from track 8 I believe.

Good eye. We have indeed reopened the tape after this video and reversed the spools. That solved the problem.

Thanks I never saw a DDC opening before ! They were not meant to be opened compared to the analog ones...

Very nice repair... Can we make 3d print of these cassettes and put chrome tape in? With good anti vibration mechanism for head tracking?

It's great but i'm missing how the tape is connected together. Wonderly the tape is suddenly connected, as if a miracle happend 👍

Great point! The video was mostly about opening and closing a DCC shell. Repairing the tape is similar to any other tape. You put it on the cutting board and apply the tape on the back of (any) tape. Not on the top side that plays.
