Step by step instructions on how to replace the belt on a Portable Digital Compact Cassette Player, Philips DCC 130 or Panasonic RQ-DP7

Thanks a lot! This is a great video and helped me to repair my own Panasonic RQ-DP7 with a stretched out belt. A couple helpful hints for anyone else performing the repair: 1. The exterior side surround soft-touch rubber piece needs to be removed veritically - the clips will break if you try to just pull it straight away from the sides (the clips are little "L" latch hooks, not pressure-based "V" spear-point hooks as I assumed). 2. The belt tolerances are extremely tight in this player and any belt thicker than 0.8 mm will snag on the belt guide and the player won't work when reassembled. Most belts I found were 1.0 mm and this is the first type I tried, which was a bad idea. I finally found a 0.8 mm belt on eBay that fit. When I play analog cassettes, there is a little audible wow and flutter when played "FWD", but it's inaudible when played "REV". I wonder if this is just the player design or if even the 0.8 mm belt is too big...

Playing analog cassettes on a dcc player does cause wear on the head. Although the sales pitch was the backwards compatibility with old analog tapes it really is not recommended to play them on a dcc player. Especially since replacement heads are next to impossible to come by. I bought an old analog walkman for the analog tapes and only play dcc cassettes in my dcc decks and portable.

Love your enthusiasm for this format. Warms my heart! :) If I may whine about anything it's the crazy jump in volume in this video that accidentically woke my kids...;) When rendering your videos, is there an option for any VST effects for the audio in that program? If so, I would use a multibandcompressor with automatic gain. In the free department I recommend Broadcast by Jeroen Breebart, and in the paid alternatives there actually only exists one VST that takes care of everything in one go: Stereotool by Hans van Zutphen. Both these examples are tools made for live broadcast, but they can also do mastering offline - and when you find a setting that works for your purpose, all your videos will sound even and easy to listen to. Take this from a guy that's been messing with audio and editing for 40 years. Cheers!

Perhaps I missed it, but don't you need to desolder connections between the 1st and 2nd motherboards?

Where can I get the spare part? My DCC 130 requires a new snare.

Will this size belt also work on a DCC 170/00 ?

I counted 26 little screws off and 26 on. That's a lot of screwing. 12:14 The only thing that was worrying was where you cut the video. 😲 Peace ✌️ out
