hey man i put in a walbro pump with the upgraded assembly on the fg but also put in a evc throttle controller same time. does the assembly have to be pushed down in all the way cos mine was very springy and also does the black ring have to be turned down all the way? im havign some irregularities when coming to a stop its dipping sometimes but i think its the touching/changing the throttle controller while driving or its the pump. the car has been starting much smoother since the new pump. i also notice now i have had a 6 speed zf conversion the car runs bit warmer closer to middle temp alot. p.s. shes quite fast for a non turbo i tell you. running on 98 all the time n that

I forgot to mention it in the video, but I also replaced the fuel filter too. After looking at the footage I still don't think this car is performing as good as it should be. As mentioned I hope to eventually move away from the piggy-back ECU and get a proper PCMTEC tune done on the car. Also this video wasn't intended as a DIY guide as I'm not an expert. Make up your own mind before deciding to attempt it yourself.

You upgraded the swirl pot and pump not just the pump... pump is the motor looking bit within the sniper pod. Should have gone the walbro 460 or 525 e85 compatible pump inc the big sniper pod. Get rid of the ancient history piggy back ecu and get a full pcm tec tune. Your issue will be the tune, not springs pump or filter. Have several of these cars.. pcm tec tune is the best for them. So much smoother and easy power. Love the content bro cheers. Nice to see you supporting tuners edge in coburg with your purchase. 😊

Great job is done.It is very important for people who never done this job ,before procedure start,"no smoking cigarets"start car and pull out fuel fuse to relise preasure in tank and car will die withouth petrol which is very important first step.I have notes you did not have rubber seal on new pump which is going around bottom lips of pump and looks like that old seal is in bottom installed properly for preventing of petrol leakage.

Loving the jokes, and Dr Phil. I’m doing this to my EB wagon soon, I also have to bend the float arm as the tank fills but never reads full on the gauge (tried it with different clusters too). I drove it on empty for ages and it took 48L (it’s a 72L tank). When the bowser clicks off, my gauge reads full and then drops back down to just above 3/4 immediately.

Good idea to mention to the viewers to disconnect the terminals from the battery for safety
@stevanzaharic
@stevanzaharic 2 жыл бұрын
It is more important in this procedure to realise pressure from system "start car and pull out fuel fuse till engine stop".You were lucky your petrol tenk was under half and you did not have hight pressure in system, but disconect batery put wire from disconnected minus to plus will reset ECU to factory default and you will get more milage on clock and accelerator pedal and trotle need relearning proces or "calibration".It is professional explanation from Haynes repair manual book.After that your trotle will have hight respond and you will ask yourself how car performance is double hight than before procedure.

Delphi supplied products to Ford & Holden. Not sure on Toyota as I've not owned one for many years. Sean, have you checked your sparkplugs & leads? I was having the same problem with my ute recently so I replaced them & she's bang on. It also helps if you know a mechanic with a proper scan tool to re-check everything besides fault codes. Did the fuel filter show any particles? Living in a country area, we don't always get good clean fuel at the bowser. A mate's ute had crap in the tank so we cleaned the tank, replaced the filter, cleaned the lines, checked & cleaned the injectors & fuel rail. It's all a process of elimination until you find the cause.

If you ever occasionally get the smell of fuel as you're driving, or you get the smell of fuel in the cabin when you've filled it to the brim, then you could have a leaky o-ring, best of replacing it, or you can get fuel resistant silicone, and silicone seal it.

The base of the fuel pump/sender is sprung loaded to "calibrate" the sender for different size tanks, so they can use the one assembly on many different vehicles. BMW do it the same way also. Glad you didnt use a cordless drill to take out the screws as the sparks from the electric motor brushes + petrol fumes = boom!

No idea, the level did surprise me though. The needle was only 2mm or so above the empty line. I think if you tried to change it at 1/4 tank you'd be in trouble! I think the tank goes up behind the back seat in a bit of an L shape, so that sort of explains it I guess.

And e85 compatible pump ,might have been a good idea,(this pump might be enough, ) ,so you had the supply in case you wanted and e85/flex fuel tune so you can run both and changing the fuel lines is overkill and unnecessarily, if the fuel lines handle e10 ,e85 won't have any effect I run it in my au 5.0ltr lpg ute for years with no modifications just to idol on because I don't like smell of petrol fumes ,I have had to change the old fuel pump since thou but that's it. These aren't that expensive or complex from what I've heard and e85 fuel is a great complement to a turbo car because it burns cooler and works well with a high compression environmental helping to stop pre detonation when you up the anti and will give you more horse's . Also has a fruity smell a lot less toxic than premium and you can get it at all United's for around the same price as premium,you do use a bit more, but you could alternate depending on what you using the car for.

Just a heads up... I had a car a few years back and I asked the mechanic to fill in the log book, now, there were a few gaps over the years in the log book (it was second hand) and what I was thinking was for him to fill in the actual service that he had done on that day, but he went and stamped and filled in about 3 years worth of log book entries/back dated and then finished his work, to him it was nothing... makes you think.

Hey mate, I've just watched a stack of your videos. Well done. Love your 6 speed manual and how well you've got it running. I've got the same model in a 4 speed auto and like yourself do a bunch of preventative maintenance. Watch out for your front lower ball joints. ;) For my auto I got sick of the factory engine mounts wearing out, so I'm currently running semi solid engine mounts. Realistically I could have just replaced the one side which always wears out. The idle vibration is a little higher so I'm going to see about getting the idle tuned to a higher RPM to smooth that out, but I tell you, the power transfer is very noticeable in my auto. Also no more shift down gear hunt when I turn into parking lot ramps at low speed. I also would get an occasional clunky start that would need a turn off and turn on to clear, and that has gone too. Keep it up, Mace

I will NEVER EVER buy a replacement fuel pump for the Falcon with the brand name FUELMISER supplied by "MOTOSPECS" Australia, Glendenning, NSW, through Repco (Model FPE-355 EFI Fuel Pump). The workshop fitted one that stopped reliable quantity indication in about 8 months, the second lasted longer (maybe 18 mths) but now failed also. Cannot say I thought the FUELMISER brand spark plugs set I tried was much chop either, quickly replaced. MOTOSPECS claimed in a lteer the fuel deterioration was at fault but the BPO info sheet supplied did not support that claim at all. MOTOSPECS did say they would refund the pump price but I have never seen a hint of money anywhere so probably BS hot air.

It could also be the filter... That's where I've had issues.

I did the filter about a month ago, but may swap it out again in the near future just for good measure.

Have u got a link to where u got them fuel disconnect tools? I have a Territory with the same type connections but have to drop the tank just enough to undo the connections without pulling on the electrical connector so it's a very tight fit. Any help with what type of disconnect tools work would be appreciated

Can you access the pump this way on a 2010 territory? Every other video they drop the whole tank
@MotoringBoxTV

From what I've heard the tank has to be dropped on Territory's.

Would this be what I need to do for a fuel gauge reading empty when it's full
@MotoringBoxTV
@MotoringBoxTV 5 ай бұрын
From memory when I removed the pump there was a wire inside the tank I had to disconnect from the pump, so that must be for the fuel level sender which sits inside. That's about as much as I know! So yes, separate to the pump, but does connect into the pump wiring.

Different tanks on the utes, but there should be a suitable one on there somewhere.

hey man i put in a walbro pump with the upgraded assembly on the fg but also put in a evc throttle controller same time. does the assembly have to be pushed down in all the way cos mine was very springy and also does the black ring have to be turned down all the way? im havign some irregularities when coming to a stop its dipping sometimes but i think its the touching/changing the throttle controller while driving or its the pump. the car has been starting much smoother since the new pump. i also notice now i have had a 6 speed zf conversion the car runs bit warmer closer to middle temp alot. p.s. shes quite fast for a non turbo i tell you. running on 98 all the time n that
@MotoringBoxTV
@MotoringBoxTV 5 ай бұрын
Mine did have to be pushed against the spring so that I could get it sealed and screwed back in properly. That sounds like a weird issue because coming to a stop the engine is pretty much at idle so it'll have more than enough fuel to do that, the issue would unlikely be the pump I think. Half temp is fine that's where they usually run at 👍

From what I've heard the tray does need to be removed, or unbolted and pushed back far enough at least.

Depends how far you drive per week. This car only does 150km max, so yes easily.

You'll probably get 10 - 11L/100km. Driving around town blows the figures out a bit. In the end they're still relatively cheap cars to buy. Better than spending 20k on a Corolla just to save a few bucks at the pump each time.

@@MotoringBoxTV thank you for the information, it's my first Ford and finding it in good condition with only 147,000km on the odo at a good price lured me to it. I oftenly do long distance trips for fishing and can see it'll be comfortable to drive in. Are parts to it easy to install? Correct me if I'm wrong but the car looks easier than most cars out there to work on yourself.

A lot of basic maintenance is pretty easy, there's a lot of access space around most areas of the engine.
