Replacing indicator stalk on 1990 landrover defender

After discovering that there was 12V appearing on the indicator stalk I decided it needed replacing. The stalk still operated fine, as far as I was aware, but as the cost was relatively cheap I went ahead. This video is a very basic one describing how I did it.
I have no idea what is causing the strange signal on the audio line. I will have to investigate later.

Thanks for this video - my Landy has not cancelled indicator after turning right since I bought it. I checked the blue collar and it was the wrong way round. Five minutes later the tab was at 9 o’clock and it cancels perfectly. Thanks to this video I saved a whole lot of time, hassle and possibly money.

That was a great help, thanks! By the way, the buzzing in your video is caused by the motor in your camera's lens refocusing every time something changes. Judging by the sound, you're using a point-and-shoot, and there may be some instructions in the manual to change how the focusing system works.

very helpful and informative video however, it starts with the black steel enclosure already removed and ends with it still removed. That's the hardest bit to negotiate!

@@robpaul5152 Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately adding that could end up adding other stuff and I'd end up with mission creep making the video too long. I prefer short videos about a single point.

I couldn't get that damn stiff wiring plug separated. I'm no pansy either , I'm a construction worker with death grip hands. I stuffed around with the wiring plug for half an hour and only got 1 side 1mm apart by jamming a small screw driver in the join and levering it before the screw driver bent. Any tips please?

Sorry. I'm no mechanic, just put stuff up others might find useful. A liquid lubricant maybe? Good luck.
