Just hit 180,000 miles on my 03 Celica GTS and still going strong! Beautiful, reliable, and fun cars provided you keep up with proper maintenance. I'm gonna check the lift bolts and that solenoid filter as per your video. Here's to another 180,000!

Very useful video. One question I have: Did you do this because you noticed something different with lift engagement, or just plain maintenance? If you did due to a lift problem, what was it? What changed after? Thanks
@michelod.i.y.52025 жыл бұрын
I only did it because I heard scare stories of snapped bolts, so it was just a precaution as the new ones are stronger. Can't say I really noticed any difference with the lift, maybe psychologically, at the moment the car is driving perfect😊 thanks for watching.

Awesome vid! Stupid question: May I ask if you screwed the new bolts tight (or not too tight)? Since on some forums I read that the bolts might potentially get damaged if they are put too tight.
@michelod.i.y.52024 жыл бұрын
Not a stupid question, In my opinion the only risk from over tightening is breaking the bolt or maybe when it comes to undoing. My tip would be do it fairly tight by hand but use a small spanner, that way you won't get to much leverage.

Went to replace my lift bolts, and I found one broken, it’s hitting the lift no problem I just replaced one but obviously couldn’t get the other one out, pain in the backside

Neil Devlin sorry to hear that they can be taken out but as you guessed its a pain. Hopefully it will cause no issue.

There’s videos on you tube t remove broken lift bolts but gotta align timing chain n remove cams t knock old pin out. Tricky but can be done

mine like that too. my question..... is it dangerous to drive around like that or it's ok? cuz I think it's so hard to take the broken screw out. and the car seems like it running ok. any advice?

From day one it's always been serviced at Toyota main dealer. But recently due to the pandemic and the rip off price Toyota are now charging, I did it myself. Thanks for watching.

I had this problem on my Celica for 2 years and Toyota wete idiots and kept saying nothing was wrong at various dealers. This was when the car was only 3 years old from new and still under new car warranty. In the end i sold the car because of this. Also there was a issue with the maf where the car woukd sometimes not want to take off from low rpm like at lights for a couple seconds. Toyota also said nothing was wrong for 2 years on that, the dealers in my area were complete idiots as it was a regional area in Australia (central coast NSW) if it weren't for those idiots i could have enjoyed what was a awesome car when it was working properly.
