James can you please show a couple of things to help people out mate. I’ve got a few pals who fit bathrooms and occasionally I get calls about problems that they encounter. I’m older than you, but you have always been my go too for visual explanations ( i wouldn’t have a clue) I’ve had two conversations tonight and as you’re well aware it’s incredibly difficult to try and explain solutions to problems. I’ve tried to explain how towel rails in older installations worked on the hot water side of the plumbing, and how to diagnose a blockage between the cold feed and vent on a gravity system. There’s only one video where a bloke uses magnets but it doesn’t look into the cause. You have been my go to guide for a long time, and a constant source of reference for clients. Please keep up the great work you’re doing. All the best, Les 👍

Years ago (alot of Years) when I was taught on lead run joints, we used to stick a small piece of bread down pipe to stop back flow of water, then when water was turned on the bread would break up and flush out of tap 🤣🥰😎

Actually this was the perfect video for me, I’ve been wanting to know how to hang that first style of rad for ages (the vertical ones). You made it look so easy. Quick question tho...I use loctite 55 on it too but I find it still leaks, would you recommend using the liquid thread locker instead?

Above floor, where the pipework is in full view, I like to to use chromed pipe and fittings especially for radiators, it looks really smart but it does take that bit longer to de-chrome the pipe ends for soldered joints . If I encounter a pipe that continually wells up with water I solder all the fittings on the new ‘dry’ pipework and then use a compression fitting to make that final union to the ‘wet’.

Always learn something from your visa, mate. You mentioned something about a bung for the vertical rad under the window but didn't see you insert anything. I know you can buy baffles for the bigger ones with flow issues but not heard of putting a bung in. Perhaps you can let me know what you mean? If it's a good rad you shouldn't need to insert anything.

What should you do if the pipes are coming up out of the floor either side of the radiator, and the new radiator projects further out of the wall than the old one? We've just replaced a bunch of single rads with doubles and feel like we've botched it a bit. Wondering if there's something to be done without having to take up the floor...
