That was an epic episode.Back then we didnt have a video recorder or betamax or whatever so we could only watch episodes for just one time.I havent seen this endearing episode since a rerun 10 yrs ago.THANK YOU for sharing all these wonderful Rhoda episodes!I always thought Rhoda was the coolest New Yorker and I love Valerie Harper like a favourite sister.

She and MTM brought me such joy in my life, a constant source of entertainment and confidence when I needed it most. Valarie and Mary you will be missed.

Best line of the episode is when Ida tells Phyllis that she is going to kill her. Hilarious!

I thought it was more like 58 million. Regardless, it was one of the most watched episodes in television history.

Harold Gould's "father to the bride" speech is adorable! The neighbor that comes out with the trash (while Rhoda was waiting in the hall for her bouquet ) was a staple on on the Odd Couple series as well. So many really good character actors bounced between those shows (Barney Miller, Taxi, Odd Couple, Rhoda, and Bob Newhart) back then, they were like family to us

Valerie looked so beautiful in her wedding gown as Rhoda. When her neighbor comes out of her apartment and says Hi Rhoda What's new? Rhoda responds nothing much and the neighbor says same here, I could have died laughing at that!! RIP Sweet Valerie!

I remember well, when there was a very good episode or movie on tv, you had to watch it as it was shown...or miss it, and wait for it to be reshown, someday. None of us thought anything about it because that was our norm back then. We were not addicted to anything that used electricity or a battery. I watched alot of TV during the 1960s and 1970s, because alot of shows were awesome then, but I also rode my bike alot and played outside. Weird, but it was like there were more hours then. Summertime, we were always outside! Anyway, I always loved this show.

And when a movie came to TV -- it was a HUGE DEAL . I remember being SO EXCITED that The Poseidon Adventure was going to be on The Movie of the Week !! And cartoons on Saturday mornings. I cannot believe they don't do that anymore !

I didn't realize this wedding episode drew over Fifty Million viewers! I remember my parents loved "Rhoda", my mother liked Mary Tyler Moore, but she thought Rhoda was hilarious! And, am the only person that hears that annoying person laughing in the studio audience, he was in all the MTM shows, even "Bob Newhart". Must have been a season ticket holder, I used to hear him in "Taxi's" audience to!
@glennfeuer74084 жыл бұрын
I think that was one of the Producers of the show or one of the Creators of the show. Nobody's going to stop THEM from laughing in an annoying manner.

It makes me shed tears to think that Valerie Harper is dying, but as she said: "I'm not dying until I do." She is a tough woman and this sitcom will always live, for me it is alive and well. Long live the 70s, and as a trans woman I empathize with her.

The simpler gowns of "back then" had their own appeal---I think I like them better than the poofy, foofy, ruched, strapless, cookie-cutter dresses nowadays. And WHO is that Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha person, who laughs like a hyena in each and (almost) every episode of "Rhoda"??? Husband thinks it was Lorenzo Music, who played The Doorman.

@koln1996 It was premature. They should have flirted around with the wedding and finally let it come through at the end of the season one. It would have been a smash had it been done that way, Then the next two years could have dealt with Rhoda's marriage to Joe and then season four Joe could have separated from Rhoda. That would have kept things a float a little longer as far as story goes.

I think that the annoying laughs were done by either James Brooks or Allan Burns. They created the show so you can't stop them from laughing the way they were.
