You MUST listen to their previous albums: 1972 Light As A Feather, 1972 Return To Forever, 1973 Hymn of The Seventh Galaxy, 1974 Where Have I Known You Before. The last mentioned is my personal favourite.

Im 64 now, I saw Return to FORVER when I was 17 'er 18 back in the mid 70's. Phenominal doesnt even touch this experience. I saw RTF with The Buddy Miles Band, opening, The RTF, eletric Set, Acoustic Set,then Electric Set, The headliner Carlos Santana Band ! Phenominal show, then at the end they all came out and jammed. Surreal !! Theres more to this show expereince but man oh man,I've never forgotten. Play on Gyspy's.

Love Return to Forever! Here's my story. A friend and I went to see them on the Romantic Warrior tour, at the old Paramount Theater in Portland Oregon (now the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall). It was so loud that we were stuffing toilet paper in our ears but it didn't help, so to avoid hearing damage we left! From then on, no matter what, I brought foam ear plugs to any concert or music performance. Truly wish I could relive that evening, but with foam ear plugs!

Yes. the loudness can be very painful and I always ask myself : why ? So I've been visiting concerts from 1976 until 1990 without earplugs, then I saw Blackfoot in Hamburg in a small venue and it really hurt my ears and "destroyed" my joy for live concerts. for 10 years I didn't go until my friend said, let's go to see Dream Theater. Even though they were very loud, too, it was a little beneath my "pain-limit". In 2014 I went to see Transatlantic and my son and I stood right in front of Mike Portnoy. Since they filmed the DVD, he was a little overmotivated and hit his drum like a berserker. Next day I had my first real tinitus. Ever since then, I use earplugs ... especially next Sunday, when we go to see Transatlantic 😆🤘

OUTSTANDING! 1976 RTF released thier Romanic Warrior album. I wore that album out. I saw Chic and his wife Gail Moran and 10 other musicians perform in a theater outside Pittsburgh. This show is tied for my favorite shows that I have seen. I saw a 75 year old Dizzy Gelespy 😵 perform in a Boston nightclub.

I almost picked another song from this album where Di Meola uses a wah wah - maybe another time. I thought you would like the unison lines. Very similar to the "Song To John" that Clarke did on his second album with Corea and McLaughlin, and The Rite Of Strings, and a couple of Mahavishnu pieces with Jan Hammer on piano.

Wonderful music from these virtuosos. Just from memory, this is a Dimeola original from Romantic Warrior which he reprised on one of his bandoneon-inspired albums. Speaking of Ovation, I believe Al was using mainly Les Pauls in those days. This was a total revelation to me when I first heard it in the late 70s. RIP Chick.

The album 'no mystery' changed my listening direction...two albums...Frank Zappa's 'overnight sensation' and no mystery by RTF...tHE FIDELITY of both albums were out of this world...I dropped black sabbath and king crimson like a dirty pair of runners....and fusion become my thing. Lenny's brush work and cymbal work is exemptional.

Hi Nick, If you want to listen Return To Forever on fire please check "Theme To The Mothership" from album "Hymn of Seventh Galaxy". This is full electric fusion jazz music from 70's before Al DiMeola joined to the band. Specially Clark's bass line is out of this world and Corea's solo on electric piano. This is not very popular album but realy very dynamic and interesting in RTF discography.

This is a nice piece of music ... BUT ... I had listened many times to Romantic Warrior before I bought No Mystery... since I heard many similar parts on both albums, I thought they had copied themselves on No Mystery til I found out, it's the earlier album. But nevertheless for me Romantic Warrior stands above all RTF. It's TOP 5 of my jazzfusion albums, sometimes I feel like it's the very best, close to perfectionism 🤘
