Sarah’s Allotment journey

New allotment structure .cobbled together from what I have . I think it turned out ok even if I only get this drain out of it I would be happy with that . Not the strongest structure I have ever made that’s for sure but you could do it in and garden or allotment

I just learned that you must cut back lavender to keep it growing a long and healthy life. I lost mine after several years. Then I learned that it needs to be cut back to promote new growth.

I love to see what your getting up to on your allotment Sarah. Your have a go attitude is great. Adapting what you've already got to develop your growing area. A good job done planting your peas, with a climbing wall for them too. That will make a lovely screen for when we eventually get more than a tolken jesture from the buttered bun. Its about time we got a taste of good weather. Not just a scattered day or afternoon, here and there. Once we get that, our gardens and allotments will bloom and take off. A great job done on the step... once finished off that will be much better than a muddy patch. Well done. Xxx

I really look forward to your posts. There’s something so relaxing watching you in your garden…mostly because you remind me of me! Just doing the best you can with what you have and hoping for the best. Your steps look great! They’ll be awesome when they’re finished. As for your garden, if you end up with a great haul of vegies etc, well great! But if you don’t, then the journey was fun! 🌱🥕🫛🥔🍅

Re cutting back lavender. Only cut into green wood if you cut it back into brown wood it will kill it. You are making your allotment so interesting Sarah keep up the good work. Love to hubby.❤

Good idea Sarah to put up the trellis for the peas that way you can stand up and pick them the same about green beans also, ,and the idea of strings will make the trellis stronger ,your garden will be pretty,.oh Sarah that cushion is so pretty such a pretty color.i'll check in again tomorrow probably but it is coming along so keep on planting away your friend -Josephine. Don't put Mic in that little hole he won't fit anyway( grave) as you called that little gravel step .lol🥰

I didnt hear what kind of willow you planted but willow can be grown to harvest canes from, for garden support. After cutting back each cane where it was cut off will fork for the next year..leave a bit of bottom of cane, dont cut off flush with trunk...Happy gardening...Willow will also sprout in a bucket of water keep water fresh...also willow water has rooting hormones in it...so it promotes roots on other plants.....You can harvest a 1 and 1/2" willow limb from somewhere or smaller limbs = smaller starts.......Cut into 2 ft sections bottom end in water....wait for roots....plant......keep damp loves water....

Lovely garden, you doing everything right , but I am not understanding what you mean by a willow ball? I know how to weave willow and vines and such but I have not heard of growing a "ball" could you explain more please? If you are wanting to weave willow, I would think to let the branches grow as long as they can.
@sarahsallotmentjourney
@sarahsallotmentjourney Ай бұрын
No I don’t want to weave a ball I want more of a topiary effect as in just cut it like a hedge but in a shape .
