Love your work Will and Santina! Just fitted mine with an exhaust and DNA kit and I can't wipe the smile off my face.There's something inherently more satisfying of buying a bloody good, affordable and well engineered basic bike and customising it for more power/performance than buying a performance production bike out of the box. Having all these options is what inspires motorcyclists, breeds cultures, attracts new riders and keeps the flame of grass roots motorcycling alive. I'm hoping to see an Australian land speed record at Lake Eyre built by you guys in the near future. A streamliner perhaps 😉 🤞

Big fan of your series on performance upgrades. Looking to make some bigger upgrades next year with plans to have it set up as my daily but also a very capable road racer. Current work done is mostly cosmetic but have fitted a full 2-1 exhaust system, YSS Fork upgrade & Rear shocks, 16T front Sprocket, Switched out the spark plugs, RK Racing GXW ZX-Ring Chain, Hitchcock chain guard, DNA Filter, BREMBO Adjustable Levers & Brake Pads, EBC Brake Discs, Domino Quick Throttle & Switches, Rizoma Oil Reservoir, Clip-Ons, Changed out the Rearsets, LED Tail light, Headlight and Indicators, Shortened the hoop under the seat, Chucked on some bigger rubber and that's it ATM. Future plans are Throttle body, Cam, Powertronic, 865 Big Bore, Revelry Big Valve Cylinder Head, Clutch, and if you got any advice I'm open to any input. Thanks again and keep the videos coming.

I have a brand new bike and I’m not ready to jettison the RE warranty quite yet. With that in mind I’ve upgraded the air filter and installed the Stinger 2-into-1 exhaust (both obviously reversible.) I’ll likely also install a booster plug soon. When I’m ready to take the plunge I’m going to install the S&S cam then upgrade the clutch. Eventually I’ll step up to the 865 big bore kit at which time I’ll probably have to go with a Power Commander or PowerTronic, although S&S appears to be on the verge of offering some kind of upgrade kit for the RE ECM. At what point would you recommend upgrading the brakes? What about the suspension? Really missed you guys last week and I’m looking forward to future vids. This is the type of content I love-concise and informative. Great work!

I’m waiting and hoping R.E. Releases the twin in a 750 in a year or 2 with front dual disc setup. I heard a rumor. Then I’ll by the fork lower, caliper, disc, etc. with new wheel/hub. Waiting on this so I can replace both wheel to 17”.
@GraemeBlore
@GraemeBlore 3 жыл бұрын
@@brookcampbell2940, more likely to be a 900 or even 1000 cc. 750 will take away sales from the 650 imo. Too small a difference, and the strong crank shows that the bike could handle 900 cc quite easily.

Thanks again for another wholesome and greatly informative video! To answer your question my GT 650 currently has a Diablo full system exhaust, which I picked for the looks and sounds it producest to be honest. The bike also has the stage 1 and 2 performance air filter and a powercommander V piggyback ECU. The latter was a necessaty as the exhaust and filter combo made the engine run way too lean. I also did some cosmetic stuff and slapped on some straight clip-on handlebars for a more racey, active riding position. A Li-Ion battery also just arrived to shed some weight. The next thing I'm saving for will be the SS cam and a big bore kit right after a suspension upgrade. I already enjoy the character this engine has but a little more oomph is welcome. Basically I'd like the same I have now, but a bit more outspoken and with an extra high range kick. The bike still needs to stay a reliable road going bike, I'd just like to get the most active, fun riding experience I can get out of it. Pretty much everything is and will be handled by capable professionals mechanics, as I lack the tools and know how to really do these things properly. I'm not looking to go so far as to change to cylinder head, and I do not yet see how I can utilize you guys from the other side of the world other than learning from your video's. Is there any way I can thank you for your effort from this side of the world?

Thanks for another great video. Been watching these for a little while now and whilst I am only likely to do a fraction of this work to my recently purchased GT650 they have been really interesting for their technical input and impressively presented. Having ridden mine for a few weeks now I can see why so many folk rave about them - it's a delight to ride on the twisty roads here in mid-Wales. Air filter & exhausts done with camshaft waiting in the shed for installation but may hold out for some high-comp pistons as well - the more I research the more that seems to make sense although it does seem to involve going down the "electronic tuning" route which puts me off a bit from doing any more than I have although if I watch much more of you two I may well take the plunge. Ramble over - keep up the great work!
@RevelryCycles
@RevelryCycles 3 жыл бұрын
The high compression 650 kits work really well with the S&S cam. We're consistently getting 52-56 horsepower and 46-48 lb ft torque with stock heads and throttle bodies. Yes, you will need to use a tuner, like the PowerTronic, that lets you alter the timing. Because the profile of the HC 650 piston crowns makes the flame front travel "up and over" the flame takes ever so slightly longer to propagate than in the flat top 865 piston kits. This means so you need to back the timing up a bit to keep it from pinging on hard acceleration.

@@RevelryCycles Thanks for the advice - not expected as I was just thinking out loud, but appreciated all the same. Worth the wait, this one! I understand that many of these modifications are race-only and not necessarily street legal but if you were to choose one config as your daily driver motorcycle, what would it be? An 865 with the narrower throttle bodies? Just the high lift cams and high flow exhausts on the stock bore? Great video guys, as always.
@nigeh5326
@nigeh5326 3 жыл бұрын
An 865 with standard throttle bodies would be best for the street as it gives better bottom and mid range power than a change of cams and headers which will give a stronger top end than standard. If you ride in traffic (most roads these days) you want the bottom end torque

good morning and greetings from Southern California. I love your channel and just subscribe. I just picked up a 2021 royal enfield Continental GT and I’m absolutely in love. I have a question if you can help. On the top of the cylinder head, there is a plate that’s held down by 48 mm bolts. I want to remove the bolts and slide the cylinder head plate out so I can polish it but I’m curious if those 48 mm boltsare structural so remove them. Also, what is the torque on installing those 8 mm bolts back in? Thank you so much.

With reference to flame propagation across the piston. Have you or do you time the spark plug gap to face the inlet valves ? I have seen spark plugs with 1 or 4 electrodes and wondered if this would help with smoothly burning the fuel .Just curious.

hello :D Im so grateful for this videos. Can you please tell me why in this videos of Royal Enfield modification you don't mention iridium plugs or cables like ngk... don't you think those are significants upgrades on the bike ? Im wondering and asking because I only have money for exhaust and air filter and maybe radial tyres...so... why not change the plugs and cables? thank you very much

If you're operating within a budget, and actual power output increase is your goal, plugs and wires are not necessicarily high on the list of early priorities. We would suggest when it's time to change the OE plugs is the time to consider an upgrade.
