Reverse Osmosis is generally known to remove HAA5 whether or not they are specifically marketed or certified as such, though it's not 100% effective. The EPA is working on a draft to classify and test RO units and HAA5 removal will likely be part of that spec once finalized. After that, we'll be able to refer to the EPA labeling for units for sale.

If you are concerned about remineralization, drops will be the most effective. In-line remineralization won't be able to add a significant amount of minerals back to the water as it needs long contact time but it's usually enough to make it taste better. In our informal testing we typically only see 10-50ppm of remineralization. For reference, bottled mineral water can contain up to 2,000ppm.

Balancing your water's pH isn't really necessary though there is some evidence that more alkaline water has benefits. You don't balance the pH of spaghetti sauce or lemonade, right? Of the three models you listed, they're all good choices. I lean towards the WaterDrop because it has a separate RO filter and you don't have to replace everything at once like with the other two.

Also keep in mind that pH is a logarithmic scale, meaning that each level is an order of magnitude separated from the next level in either direction. Your stomach has a pH around 2, which is orders of magnitude more acidic than RO water.

A couple of comments...1) Forget Himalayan pink salt...even as a minimal source of trace elements. It’s proven to be both inadequate and nconsistent (as is all mined salt source). ONLY ocean-derived minerals & trace elements provide the full Periodic Table of the Elements (not including gases, of course). The absolute best is QUINTON Hypertonic liquid in 10 ml sachets or glass ampoules and liter sizes as well (very economical). The second best is well-known Celtic Sea Salt which is not as bioavailable as QUINTON (and lacking organic micronutrients) but it still provides most of the Periodic Table of the Elements.

Tankless RO systems are great but they fill a niche for when you can't install something under the sink. They're much slower due to the lack of a holding tank.

No, distilled water wants minerals. It will strip them from your teeth and bones. The red cap tells of danger.

There are like 3-4 companies that produce the actual membranes. Do not get some proprietary RO system, but a standard housing with 1812 membrane, replace membranes once a year with DOW Filmtec membranes, 1812-75 is pretty standard. 1812 is the housing and 75 is the GPD of the membrane. Get a permeate pump for best efficiency and you are golden.

so me aquasauna seems to have the most reputable certifications I could find, plus its on sale right now for like 60% off. NSF and ansi certification seems to be the best standard of proof that the filter does what it claims. Express water filter seems to have the certifications approved by a 3rd party against nsf/ansi standards but doesnt seem to actually say if is recognized by nsf/ansi qualifications. Express waters third party qualifier seems fairly legit like you can call them and investiagte them if you feel inclined and it seems they will reply etc etc, some form of seemingly decent tracibility. Aquasauna though is tested by a 3rd party (WQA water quality association, same one the guy in this video says he posesses), but it seems their qualification is actually recognized as met by nsf/ansi and marked in their book, vs tested against as express water seems to say. NSF/ansi has a log online you can view to see every ro filter company that has passed soe of their various testing qualifications. There were a few water brands, some meets more standards then others. Aquasauna was the main one i was looking at. I should go look more closely at some of the other companies thea nsf/ansi has in its log as meeting there quality standards. At least this seems to be the pinacle of choosing ro filters that i have found yet.

RO does generate waste water as part of the permeate filtering process. Most systems will tell you the filtered to waste ratio. However we aren't aware of any systems that produce 6 or 5 gallons of waste for a "quarter of a 5 gallon".

@Freshnss you can buy distilled water and put minerals back in. For less than 1.00 a gallon

And you have to drive to the store to get it. Carry your water. It’s also probably in plastic jugs so you’re getting micro plastics in your water. My home ro under the sink system with a tank cost a couple hundred dollars. It’s worth it for me.

@@stevenglockner everything you buy today has chemicals in it. You would be surprised how many materials have plastic in them.
