The fact that it's mechanically competent enough to be playable prevents it from being that low. A 0/5 would basically be something that completely breaks my mind. I have never run into a game *that* bad... so far.

Compatibility mode is a feature built into Windows. You should just be able to go into the properties of the game's EXE and find an option for compatibility mode, which you can then set to Windows XP. There should also be a way to run the game as an administrator, unless they got rid of that in Windows 10.

+TheFreeman I know your post is old but here is my 2 cents. As per DWTerminator's statement above. IMO EA has become coporate driven gaming company, they are money driven. They release generic games, with generic mechanics or use mechanics from other games that did well and all they do is up the graphics and slap a 2,3 or 4 on it.

IMO, I think the developers tried to copy Halo Wars NOT Dawn of War 2. I mean look at the similarities between C&C 4 and Halo Wars. And if you read the reviews for C&C3 , most people claimed that Halo Wars was better then C&C3 back in 2007, I think that;s why the devs decided to make a change to the formula of C&C 4 not only because of SC2 but DoW2 and Halo Wars

Having actually played Halo Wars (though I wish I hadn't), I have to say anyone who actually thinks Halo Wars is a better RTS than C&C3 is a complete moron and that copying it is an absolutely horrible idea. That said, considering how bad C&C4 is, I wouldn't be surprised if they *did* try to copy Halo Wars.

DWTerminator Nope, it's true, Halo Wars is better than CnC 3, in console. Halo Wars is one of the most successful RTS for console, in term of control (I found it very enjoyable playing it in gamepad). You can not just port a RTS from PC to console just because it's a good idea, the gamepad is not the same as keyboard and mouse.

Art style's fairly similar. That's about it though.

Theo Morrow To an extent other corporations only care about that too. However, this particular game seems so bad that I do not even recommend you bother watching the cut scenes on KZfaq. It's almost like they managed to suck any life and enjoyment I could normally have with cut scenes like Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge completely out of the game. What is esp. egregious to me though is that in one of the dev diaries, Joe Kucan felt that the writing was in "capable hands" and had faith in it. So, it almost makes me feel that they betrayed that character and his abilities as well as the fans.

I'm a big cnc fan, I bought the dvd box 4 years ago in a store for $5, I love cnc so I just bought it but I had no idea it even came out and I was shocked by the price (I paid at least $50 for TW). The picture on it looked awesome too, Kane looking all smug with a big ass number 4 over him, I sad wow!!! However... little did I know that I had comitted heresy, a grave heresy. This godless imposter, this heathen they call CnC4 was a weapon in disguies of a game, weapon with the purpose of assasinating CnC franchise beyond any repair. And it did well, it did very well.

I just find this comment a bit weird.. You seriously think that this is a good buisness decision for a game series with a well established fan base? The facts is that popular games like C&C have gained more earnings and sold more and more copies since piracy became a thing so theres absolutely no evidence what so ever that it has had a negative effect on these games sales, although the contrary can be said to some extent (more people finding the game and franchise leading to them eventually buying the game to be able to play online). Keeping this in mind, your thought is that deciding to ACTIVELY punish the fans who actually PAY for the freaking game is a better buisness directive? Actively making the games difficult to play and enjoy for paying fans is a better buisness decision than just face the fact that some people will pirate the game? If you actually believe any of these measures really make a difference for those pirating the game, your (sorry to say) deluded. I also find it funny that its always the richest companies that implement these stupid "protections" while they make complete crap games simply to leech money from a franchise (EA, always fucking EA) when these are the games and companies that actually arguably BENEFIT from piracy. RTS games are freaking online games, the single player aspect is fun and engaging but the online aspect is were the core of the game lies and this is were most people pirating needs a real copy of the game, which many of them buy after establishing that it is a good game. Ofcourse the developpers of C&C 4 knew the game was utter garbage ruining the entire franchise and didnt want people to experience the game before actually buying it so they had to sell the copies fast before people understood what utter filth the game was.

There are evidence and you can easily search for it, however theres also common sense which should be enough.. Whats the evidence that it has hurt the companies and developpers of these poppular games when the sales and income has increased? I said arguably beneficial, not that it clearly is. But to say the it was done with a malicious intent in order to make customers suffer is fallacious. That is like saying that a restaurant intentionally poisoned its customers because they wanted to punish them for liking their food.

I'm thankful for this review. I was recently looking up past RTS games and wondered why C&C4 did bad. There's a couple of high profile RTS games coming out soon, Halo Wars 2 and DoW 3, and I hope the mistake isn't repeated.

+jcrebel18 they tried reviving the series by making a Generals 2 but then the higher ups wanted to make it an MMO. With Generals universe being the first sides for what would span the universes of the franchise. Sadly the generals wasn't all that good. they had EUROPE instead of USA even though that goes agaisnt the timelineof Generals. But they did go back to the real C&C style of game play. The game was canceled in alpha stage
