I got this Bauer 20v cordless brushless impacts driver from Harbor Freight a few months ago. I got it to use as an impact wrench to take the lug nuts off of my car and pickup truck while I wait for the Bauer brushless compact impact wrench to come out. I want to share with you guys how well this little impact driver worked for me for taking off lug nuts to help you guys decide if this is worth the investment. I think this impact driver is a good bargain for DIY automotive maintenance and repair at home.

Unfortunately most shop use the impact to put the lugs on and never use a torque wrench to put to final torque. As a tech I have come across any wheel lugs over torque.

The new Hercules super torque impact wrench is within 50-75 ft pounds of the Milwaukee half inch high torque. I was very impressed but I already invested in both the m12 and m18 lines and have the Milwaukee 1/2 inch. Definitely worth every penny! Good to see you putting out more content!! Keep it up.

Yeah! I was super impressed with the Hercules ultra torque impact! It literally makes me sad that I decided to invest in the Bauer line earlier this year. I know it hasn't been tested with time yet but I'm really glad that Harbor Freight is stepping up their game and compete against the best in the field! They will need to find the fine line between performance and cost if they want to retain their current customer group though. I can't wait to see what they're gonna come out with next. Also, as always, thank you so much for your support, Leath!

@@yihuandiy6355 not a problem every trade is hurting right now and if I can help keep them alive by supporting channels like yours it’s worth it! For the price I would invest in both Hercules and bauer they both have great tools but many exclusives and I believe it’s worth it in the long run.

I'll definitely consider investing in both. Honestly, I'm also thinking about just investing in Milwaukee mid torque impact. It seems like a well rounded choice for home warrior. It's just a bit pricey considering that I need to buy batteries and charger. One the other hand, DeWalt is stepping up their game, too. That said, I don't think I'll need to upgrade in a couple of years so we'll see how these brands do then.

Normally you loosen the lug nuts while it’s on the ground but this tool totally makes up for that. :)

I chose Bauer mostly because it has a good selection of tools, but also because of the color. It allows me to ease into Milwaukee in the future without anyone noticing, hahaha.

It wasn't made for that sort of thing, Bauer makes a dedicated half inch impact that will do that sort of work easily.. that particular impact was made for more smaller jobs. It is pretty much a transition between the drill driver, and the half inch impact,

Hi James, thanks for pointing it out! You're correct that this impact driver is not made for this type of work. I got it mainly because I'm waiting for the new Bauer brushless compact impact driver to come out later this year. I hope the new compact impact will have similar performance than the Hercules counter part, which would be enough for simple DIY car maintenance job.

@@yihuandiy6355 .... I have all of the Bauer impact drivers, and I am thinking about getting the new Hercules Ultra impact tool, which is capable of 1,400 foot pounds of torque, I would use that one on the large jobs such as lug nuts and such. Of course I would dial down the torque to around the lowest setting and use my dedicated torque wrench to exact the torque applied to the lug nuts.

@@jameswagoner3309 Oh yeah, that Hercules ultra impact is a beast! I'm so glad that Harbor Freight is stepping up in the game. I just don't have any Hercules batteries, otherwise I'd get it for sure.

@@yihuandiy6355 .... the quality of Hercules tools makes it worth investing in that platform. Bauer and Hercules both are great tools and deserve to be side by side on your workbench. It would be nice for them to share the same battery platform, but they don't, maybe someday there will be an adapter available.
@yihuandiy6355
@yihuandiy6355 Жыл бұрын
Agreed! I was actually considering Milwaukee but it's currently out of my budget range. They do have decent sale every now and then but those bundles are more trying to get you into the platform and then spend big money on the tools not in any bundle or pay for extra batteries. On the other hand, I also want to support smaller brand like Bauer and Hercules so that they stay in the competition. Competition is good for consumer. I really hope to see more surprises like the recent Hercules ultra high torque in the future.

Nice video...I love the Hercules line....but tried Bauer early on without good results. I'm really locked in to Milwaukee as I have a LOT of batteries etc. 90% of the work I do is with my 1/4” driver…the only time I really use a 1/2” is lug nuts or trips to junkyard for bumpers etc…

Hi Michael, I really like the Milwaukee Fuel platform but they are out of my budget range at the moment since I'm still saving up down payment for a house (the house market is CRAZYYYY XD). Also, I'm doing car project as a weekend hobby so I'm not too demanding on tools. That said, I'm going to slowly upgrade my tools when my budget allows and as needed.

Hey Tony, I feel you! I was bummed when Hercules came out with the high torque since I already bought into the Bauer platform. That said, the Bauer brushless impact just came out and I'm getting one for Christmas! Will post a review video soon! Also, I heard words on the street that the Bauer brushless high torque impact is coming out in Feb next year!

I'm a mechanic and I use this for lug nuts. I then use my torque wrench to get them to 100lbs. It's always right at 100 or slightly below maybe 90lbs. It's close enough for me but it's not nearly as powerful as my co workers larger Snap On battery impact. I'm happy with it until the Harbor Freight releases the big boy version. EDIT: Oops, I use the impact WRENCH version of this, not the driver.

Nice but won’t the drill be damaged by this? Another tool called impact wrench is made for this sort of thing.

They have the same hammer mechanism just down sized you'd have to use it alot alot to damage but even the bigger impacts eventually wear out

1/4 inch impact driver is NOT an impact WRENCH. Buy the correct tool for the job at hand.

He said he will be buying the right one once released. They make impact-rated socket adapters for reasons just like this. Also, it will still outperform Harbor Freight’s 12v Emergency Roadside Impact Wrench… which is what I got for my motorcycle before my DeWALT DCF809 impact DRIVER. ;)

Why do people lie Anybody who had an quarter inch impact no better than that if those lug nuts wasn't already broke loose or tooking off already it will never do that what a joke

Maybe you should invest in a better quarter inch impact, like the Bauer? :D
