Nothing wrong with modern, high capacity pistols, but that is not a valid excuse to get sloppy, and it's a good way to get yourself killed.

Great video! Sometimes a video should be long, and this one deserved to be long. I enjoyed it all. I agree, and I can't understand how people can just pull the trigger without worrying about be accurate when dealing with a threat. Stray bullets is not something to be taken lightly. Law enforcement can generally get away with it because civil immunity, but we as civilians don't have that. I also am not a fan of the ar15. I just sold mine. I'm sure it will do the job just fine, but i prefer a different weapon system with a 30 cal (or greater) projectile. I'd even prefer an m1 30 carbine over a ar15. More capacity is never a bad thing, but like you said, focus should be on getting better shot placement. I often don't practice basic bullseye shooting. I find that I'd rather practice on the draw, or while moving, or transitioning, or anything besides standing still poking holes in a piece of paper. If you can be accurate doing those tasks while shooting then you'll definitely be accurate if you get the luxury of shooting while standing still and taking your time.

Thanks man, I really appreciate that! Stray bullets are definitely something to worry about if there is other people around...not to mention the fact that those stray bullets aren’t keeping you alive by stopping the threat...in three fast misses, you could have easily had one solid hit and stopped the fight. I have had people argue on both sides of the 5.56, and at close range it’s certainly very deadly, but not like a .308! I think you and I think alike in that regard...under 50 yards I want a 12 gauge, beyond that I’ll take an M14 with a walnut stock on it. 👍🏻 Shooting and moving will definitely improve your skills! I like to practice both. Thanks for the comment man, great minds think alike! 👍🏻😄

Just one little remark here: Bill Jordan was a born trick shooter. This skill is not learnable, it is congenital. So please, do not try to point shoot from the hip at seven yards, unless you are one of the Gifted Ones. Try to use the sights. Otherwise this video is a rare pearl in the sea of tactical excrement.

@@georgejohnsmith with guys like Chris baker (lucky gunner) and John (ASP) taking over, it's getting much worse. They put so much stress into speed over marksmanship, and the new wave of followers are eating it up. Kinda sad...i don't think either of them would know what to do if I walked up and punched them in their face...theyve probably never even experienced that before. We've gone from experienced warriors to reserve small town cops to people who have seen video footage before...it just keeps getting worse.

+Josh Benware. I agree. But be careful, Josh. The cleverer you get, the more enemies you will have (at least on youtube). The industry and the dealers selling the products (especially ammunition) benefit massively from the heightened sense of danger, constant fear, and the illusion of "high capacity" pistols being area denial weapons. It is not real need that drives the industry, it is the industry that drives the needs.

Good discussion. The current trend in Police training is fire your gun until the threat is stopped, which basically means empty your gun into a perceived threat. The Philando Castille shooting is a good example. We used to be trained double or triple tap and assess. We'd have fewer questionable police shootings if we would go back to that.

Actually, about three years ago, a group of big city mayors were calling for their police departments to go back to revolvers in the wake of several high profile police shootings. They couldn't get past the police unions however. But you are right George. The high cost of an S&W revolver could not compete with the low price Glock offers to sell their guns to LE for.

Hmmn. Interesting debate, actually. We have heard a few words about police shootings here in Denmark. Our cops have to file a complete report if they even *draw* their firearms, let alone fires it. That's a luxury we can allow ourselves, as we don't that many guns "in circulation". I guess that much paperwork wouldn't make sense to most American LE, so this was probably more of a low blow than something that could actually work. How about body cams? Just spitballin' here.
@TheMagnumChannel
@TheMagnumChannel 6 жыл бұрын
Thomas Raahauge , yeah, I’m not sure what the rules are for American LE, but I would think they would have to file an incident report anytime a call goes south and they have guns drawn. More and more departments here are going to bodycams as well, so that should help, but it won’t fix bad shooting.

This is a very similar myth that goes on in the martial arts that in real scenarios all fine trained motor skills go out the window; which like you said, is a bull myth that spread like wildfire from guys that were arguably lazy with little training. Fine motor skills don't have to go out the window, thus why we have the statement "How you train will be how you respond. So train as if your life seriously depends on it, because it might just." If you refuse to train skills and techniques with no resistance against your comfort, then might as well go find something else to do. So case and point, there is no excuse for just being haphazard with your shooting. Good video and I'm glad the way you spoke wasn't derogatory towards anyone. You just showed the facts and backed up your point of view. There needs to be more ranges that allow serious shooters to do more then stand in lanes and poke holes all day.

high capacity is for multiple threats.. so say there are 7 attackers ,, a 5 round capacity mag isn't going to do the trick.. but i agree that marksmanship needs to be a priority,, which is why i have been practicing , shooting while coming into focus on the sights.. so while im still lifting the gun to zero in , i am putting shots on target,, right now i am consistently putting 2 to 3 shots on target with out the luxury of aiming.. trying to build my muscle memory to place those shots on the target by just pure motion alone.. we will not always have the luxury of taking our time to aim and shoot.... so we need to make sure we can hit the target at least once with out aiming... and when i practice i use body shots for my unfocused shooting... its kinda like mastering the art of fighting with out fighting.. this is for sure a great video with a lot of valid points.. keep up the good work brother..

Train with the same body you will have when the heart rate goes from 70 to 200 under a second. Learn to get shots on target holding the gun with a death grip, focusing on the target (point shooting), jerking the trigger and slapping the finger against the trigger guard. Basically the opposite of bull's eye competition training.

To those who say "what about more attackers then the shots in your revlover" its a fact that multiple attackers scatter when a gun comes out....also attackers are not knowing if you have a 5,6, or 7 shot revolver plus speed loaders and strips...they are not intrested in math and counting shots in a gun fight...you also as a armed person with training are going to seek cover while you shot on the move....another thing is even if you have more attackers then your rounds in mag or in revolver no one of them guys are going to stay around wondering who gets the bullets even if you dont have enough for all.....also with muliple attackers you are not necessarily better off then a revolver just because you have a semi auto...many cops in chicago like one guy on patrol had 4 16 round mags 9mm and still got overwhelmed and jumped by a crowd....situtational awareness and being alert in your environment is going to be better for you then worries about having not enough ammo or a bullet that some one says has not enough expansion and penetration...although round nose 158 grains are not the best the old timmer police officers had no problems because they knew that if them shots didnt count it would be a bad day and they did good even in those days with under powered round nose bullets even less shots maybe then some guys with semi auto when they were first used transitioned over to them because of taking for granted that more ammo means more success wich is proven not to be true...its shot placement that matters....miami drug dealers with full automatics in the early to mid 80s got killed by revolvers....even jim cirrilo the new york steak out cop used a revolver and was successful in revolver days ....its how you use your cover and not how many rounds you have...its what you do with them rounds...even a 158 grain round nose in the heart drops the blood pressure of a attacker...today our targets are to big...center of mass is a big area...the heart area 3 to 4 inches are the best targets.....today a guy will stand out in the open and shoot a plate rack with out cover...there is no flow to a gun fight that puts targets in a nice neat order that stay put....real targets move and shoot back...so after the first attacker or multiple attackers we need cover...you see speed shooters all the time shooting big steel plates worshiping their timers...4 sometimes 8 steel targets where they fire one shot for each target then transition to the other but the problem is what if that one shot on the first guy didnt count...also the other targets if real armed people 7 of the 8 will shoot you possibly because while your shooting the first guy the rest are shooting you to...this is why getting to cover while shooting on the move is critical ...cover is not used right in training because timers are training people to move out of cover when they should stay put...a timer is good for speed but to worship the timer is not good, remember there is no timer in a gun fight ....the bad guy is not going to ask to set the timer...you may be caught unaware....situtational awareness is the faster then any hand speed of any guy because it gives you the draw first even if the other guy is much faster....speed is good but accuracy is final....the heart or head are targets we need to focus on....the heart drops blood pressure faster then any other organ....some of the fastest most accurate shooters like bob munden started by plinking cans....cans are the best target because they are about in that 3 to 4 inch range or fist sized same as a heart...so a guy plinking cans and working on getting faster is basically shooting the heart or a target wich improves accuracy and center of mass is something we need to not worship either...we need anatomy classes...we need to shoot for the heart not just center mass...today our targets have gotten to big and degradation of accuracy because of speed shooting and worship of timers......robert keller of army special ops said we must see paper or steel targets as a real threat .... he also said multiple threat targets are not the way to go because their is no flow and a nice neat order in a gun fight and other guys if they had guns and we stood out in the open we wouldnt stand a chance....just 2 targets and use cover in training and if adding targets still using cover to make it realistic....it may be fun working a plate rack but thats not how a gun fight works even if you beat your time....worship of the timer has made the emphasis of only speed and guys like robert keller who got shot at said its not the same as on the range...keep your head down and use cover even if one attacker..the guys that are are used to coming out from cover fast is because of a timer but in real life may be killed....your not at a speed shooting match your in a real situtation where targets move and shoot back at you ...you need to stay and not leave cover in a hurry but defend from a possition of cover.....the problem today is we worship timers, run and gun, theatrics, and want cool stuff that we dont master the basics..we keep changing guns rather then mastering the one we need to defend our life with.....new guns are nice and guys tend to switch carry a lot based on trends or the latest and the greatest rather then just being a one gun guy who knows his gun..."beware of the man with only one gun" also there is a myth floating around that if your the fastest shooter or fastest draw you will win ....not so....its the mind set...its your situational awareness, your focus and mastery of basic skills.....bob stasch and jim cirrilo have won a dozen of more gun fights in their life time...both of them interviewed and said they were not like fast competition shooters but many of the modern day fast shooters have never been in a gun fight yet confuse new shooters into worshipping timers and that some how if your fast on a timer it makes you better then a guy who fought on a real battle field or in law enforcement or even a ordinary citizen that seen first hand in a shooting that its nothing like the range......a guy who ouned a jewelry store who was a competition shooter almost got killed when he was unaware he was being robbed..his eyes were not looking out..his employee saved his life by alerting him and he drew his 1911 45 and saved him self and employee....so being a competition shooter alone is not going to do it..no timer in a gun fight....situtational awareness and a good mind set comes first and then even the mastery of the basics will save our life......also we cant lump law enforcement and military in with the every day carry guy as far as what we need for defence..its different what we face..law enforcement for example has to serve warrants, put on cuffs, go into danger like routine traffic ambushes unlike most of us dont they are more likely to be in more danger then the average carry permit guy just working and stopping at the store on the way home for a gallon of milk....that guy has less exposure to trouble and if decent can avoid trouble where as law enforcement has to go to trouble because of warrants..calls...traffic stops they must do, a regular carry permit guy just minds his oun business......and its proven statically that if you are not a escalating..trouble starting person nor one as john farnam said " going to stupid places doing stupid things with stupid people " meaning you know where you go if your putting yourself at risk.....so if your a person who stays out of trouble and avoids and doesnt look for it or starts it....the odds are rare that you wont be able to defend your self with a firearm.....what we are doing and what happens almost all the time is a "break in contact" almost all defense situations not lumping in law enforcement only required a gun and person stopped what they were doing..even more rare is you having to fire one shot....even more rare is mulitple attackers.......the reason why you exclude law enforcement and military is because what you face is different and the death rate is much higher for law enfocement and military then those who are decent conceal or open carry average citzens......law inforcement and military can be a war zone every day for some but not for the average citizen who open or conceal carries ..... this is why a revolver or mouse gun have done just fine looking at video cam evidence...where as military and law enforcement need more firepower on a daily basis simply because they have to go to danger when the average citizen only needs to stay out of trouble or just defend and take cover.....if something worse should happen for us that a pistol may not do.....then we use rifle we have in our car...the pistol may or may not do it regardless of ammo capacity like a mass shooting so this is why we prepare buy in addition to our hand gun we have a rifle in the car we can get to if need be

We still stick with the 7.62 for machine guns, although we replaced the MG3 (the re-chambered MG-42 "hitler saw") with the upgraded 7.62 version of the merry ol' M60, so our machine gunners still get to shoot the manure out of various insurgents with the trusty ol' .30 :) Thanx for posting, buddy.

@@TheMagnumChannel we were hog hunting and I carried my Glock 17 just for the challenge on the first one. As me and Uncle Don rode in the old Jeep a coyote jumped up running straight away. Don hops out to take a shot. I pulled the G17 as he began to turn left. He was about 60 yds. I led him about 1-2 body lengths and pulled the trigger and it centered him. That evening about an hour later I killed 2 hogs with it. The next coyote we were hog hunting in the same spot and 5 coyotes came out. We killed 4 with our AR's we walked out to look at them and one that was gut shot and cowed down in the goat weeds. Hopped up growling and was gonna take a bite out of me. What I learned from this: - Hit the spot with the first round. You don't know if you'll have the time to fire more than one shot. - Practice. Dry shooting, plinks, carry rounds. Practise! - Stay alert. Look after your diet. Work out. Get your sleep. Stay hydrated. Lay off the boooze and smokes. Those microseconds all add up, and you'll need that upper hand before you know it. - If you are a lousy shot, get your butt back to school and learn a trade, where you don't have to rely on your marksmanship.
