The Eve Motion, features IPX3 water resistance, simple set-up without a bridge or hub, and is powered by 2 AA batteries. It plays well with your other HomeKit devices and works great in automations. The native Eve app also provides data regarding motion time and duration! I’ll use this motion sensor in my covered patio to turn on our HomeKit controlled lights, with a simple automation, to light the area in the dark and scare off intruders.

Are you finding that the sensor identifies motion only when humans are involved or would identify motion every time a fly or a possum comes by?

This is Great! Thank you! Though I wish it was not Bluetooth. What is the Range on that? I have WiFi all over the property (2.5 Acres), but my AppleTV is only in one location in the house. I was hoping that it was going to be WiFi/IP Based vs Bluetooth. I bought one of the Outdoor Wemo Motion units, I hear its just OK for HomeKit integration. Fingers crossed. Why is it taking soooo long for Companies to come out with a good motion sensor for HomeKit? It cant be that hard to make their Dimmers with a Motion on the Bottom like a 'non-smart' dimmer.

Bluetooth range is about 30 ft. I'd love for companies to make a light switch with motion sensor for HomeKit! I'd also like someone to make rotary dimmers instead of the rockers on the market now. I'd seriously replace all my dimmers if some company made the rotary kind with a dial. Thanks for watching!

Hey Rey, Helpful vid i do have a question. I would like to use the eve outdoor motion sensor with existing lights that are not smart. Can i achieve this by installing a smart switch to control the lights remotely and then connect the eve motion sensor to turn the lights on when motion is detected at night ? If so what smart switch do you recommend ? It would all need to be compatible with apple home kit (apple tv is my hub) Thanks for your help Mike

Yes, a smart switch is what you’ll need. There are many HomeKit compatible switches on the market. My personal preference is Leviton and Lutron Caseta seems to have a huge following as well. I have several videos covering HomeKit compatible light switches on this channel. Thanks for watching! 🙏

hello... just wondering since you have this motion sensor outside. what if you had it on the house side wall facing out. would trees moving or shadows trigger detection? or is there a way to have motion zones or people detection to trigger this motion?

However- Eves sensors we a an order of magnitude slower and more unreliable than Hue. I started with Eve and have replaced all of them with hue. I just works much better
