Thank you for sharing this review - I have been digging into the Lutheran Confessions, and was intrigued to see that the Saxon Visitation Articles included (I thought they had been largely forgotten). This edition really sets the standard for how churches should print their creeds and confessions!

I agree. My copy has been used a lot and it doesn't show any sign of distress. I have seen older editions of the Book of Concord. I must admit that I like this edition the best.

I own a copy of this book and really enjoyed your review. It's an excellent resource and the way you presented it showcased what it has to offer. I also own a copy of the Concordia Commentaries (Daniel) which is excellent. While a little pricy, both books are very well made and of excellent quality. My next purchase is going to be "The Apocrypha - The Lutheran Study Edition with Notes" based on your review. Thank you for the time you spend making these reviews, they have helped me a lot.

I have this hardcover and the TrutTone pocket edition, without the need extras. I also have the English only edition of Bente and Dau's translation. The woodcuts and timelines really make the Reader's edition something special. You review is, as usual, excellent.

Thank you very much for this review! It was very informative. And it looks like the Missouri Synod really sets the standard for publishing their confessions. I see Fortress Press has its own translation of the Book of Concord dating from 1993. I wonder how they compare. (Would someone care to comment?)

Do you have anymore lutheran books besides this, the apocrypha, and lutheran study bible? I'm studying lutheran doctrine. I need all the resources I can get.

I have a few apologetic books written by Lutherans (e.g., Jordan Cooper's The Great Divide), but nothing as comprehensive as this.
