Richard wrote this song for his then wife when he was travelling on the road and there was distance between them. He said it was simply his way of expressing how much he missed her.
@coolaunt5164 жыл бұрын
I heard him say in an interview that he offered the song to Barbra Streisand, who turned it down because she "waits around for no one". So he was forced to record it himself, and he thanked Barbra for turning it down lol.
@Darrell77774 жыл бұрын
@@coolaunt516 Wow, I didn't know that but from what I heard about her I'm not surprised at her response lol. She's a legendary singer and a great all around talent but she sounds like a real narcissistic diva. All the things that are said about Mariah Carey but are largely untrue are actually true of Streisand. It's hard to imagine anyone singing it as good or better than Richard, especially since he wrote the song and it was coming from such a personal place.

Heads up Please read. Why your one of the best is because you don’t make the mistakes of the others. Others try and tell me what the song is about and what it means. We don’t need a song we’ve heard a thousand times explained to us, I know I’ve been listening to it for years. The fun is your reaction to hearing it the first time and relating it to yourself and how it makes you feel, and moments in time with family. That’s how we relate. Keep up the personal connection with emotions it’s the most effective way to communicate with us. Great stuff!! Never explain the words just emote. Oh you would love Robert Cray “I wonder” and keep going on Billy Joel!! Thanks enjoy watching you takes my mind off work a while👍

I do like the way that another reaction channel....'Soul Train Bro'....handles it also. Plays the song in it's entirety.....but then afterwards, he'll provide some background on the artist.....aong with detailed info on the individual song. For those who ARE interested. I've learned a lot about groups from him, that I've been listening to for many decades......but never really knew anything about.

Watching your reaction, I had to stop halfway through and implore my FB friends to help. I was like 10 or 11 when this song came out. I learned to play and sing it to impress the girl I was crushing on. This started a series of me learning or writing songs to try to impress girls. None of them worked. Over, like, 20 years. I'm actually a good musician, and a fairly decent singer, so I don't think it was because I was a hopeless performer - but I was certainly a hopeless romantic - as you seem to confess being as well. Young love is a beautiful thing. And (at least in my case) it hurts like crazy. As I've gotten older I've found the same. Thanks for reminding me of this song.
