I was installing a new garage service door on a house last month and the customer had a dumpster in the driveway because they were moving. Guy was getting ready to heave a large box full of golf balls in the bin and the only reason I stopped him was the box said Callaway on it. I asked him if they were balls and he replied yes. Apparently he was in charge of buying balls for tournaments and this case was the leftovers. 42 dozen balls for free. Nike, Callaway, Wilson, Srixon, Top Flight Taylor and Maxflis. I was just thrilled. I gave five dozen to my girlfriend and five to my friend and will still never have to buy another ball the rest of my life.

It has been really bad this year and I have only played 1 single round. My distance used to be my strength. Even when I was a 25+ handicap I could drive the ball as far a as anyone. @probablynotabigtoe9407
@probablynotabigtoe9407 4 жыл бұрын
Any surface scratches will increase drag and depending on the shape it can deflect the spin... But the faster the ball is traveling it exponentially increases its effect on the flight of the ball. Too many factors in that equation to give a definite answer. Depth, shape and amount of imperfections will all play into it. Long story short Do Not use badly scratched balls on your drive and it shouldn't effect your game In any notable manner. I would like to see it tested as well but in the small sample sizes he usually tests in we wouldn't see measurable results anyway.

I've been out twice at night with my UV torch. Found 127 balls the first time and 100 the second time, not counting the other 20 or so that were too difficult to reach. About two dozen were Pro V1s.

I have bought several of the refurbished/rewashed boxes and has just noticed that there are different year balls in there. The Pro V1 font and arrows differ with the year they were released. The oldest one I have gotten was from 2003-04. Most are from 2015+. Hope this helps in anyway. I absolutely love these golf balls and for the price I'm not as scared to hit them since they are much cheaper. Walmart had/has them on clearance for $7 a dozen so why wouldnt you buy them. That is about the same price as the cheapo balls you find there. Cheers 🍻

I'm now curious of the performance differences from a 2017 pro v1 to a 2019 since they clearly changed the internals. Did they purposely reduce the distance and change the cover feel for a more controlled ball?

Thank You for the Great review as always Rick!! I was told by a really good friend who actually works for this company that makes the refurbished brand golf balls. Most of the brands are refurbished in the same factory and the process is the same. There are several different grades they use when doing this process. Sometimes they will even use a different brand ball that is very similar and put a new cover on it and mark it as say a pro V1. That is why some will feel harder and not perform as well. To avoid these types of refurbished balls make sure your buying the ones that are in that brand of packaging. It is against the law to misrepresent that company so if doesn't say pro v1ect. on the box then don't buy it. Most of these online businesses are not legit nor licensed to sell these balls. Just trying to help out you fellow golfers.

Rick I started playing the Snell MTB Black. It’s a really good ball. The owner Dean Snell was one of the former engineers at Titleist who helped design the Pro V1 and the Prestige ball. I also think he had a hand in the Professional ball as well. He worked for TaylorMade as well on the Penta models. If you haven’t already maybe you can test the MTB Black and the X.

I love the pro V1x but I’ve grown to love the Taylor Made Burner Soft. They both are superb on the green especially with my short distance irons and wedges. I’m 26 and I’ve been playing since I was 19. I’ve been on and off the golf course but I started up again fully when I joined a CC with my dad. I’ve improved greatly and I’m starting to recognize what I love and dislike in the equipment I use.

I haven't played much since I started high school, but back in the day I'd buy from the "lake balls" basket in the shop at the course. Grounds keepers dig balls out of water hazards, forest, rough, what have you, and sell them in the shop 3 for $1 or so. You could find some sweet deals in the basket if you felt like digging! I might spend a bit more if I played these days, but maybe not top dollar, since there's about 1000 things I could improve about my game before balls were the bottle neck >_

I would be curious to see how they feel in comparison to a new prov1 of the same generation. Although I do believe your results in performance are accurate. To me, a golfer who loses at least one ball per 9, It would seem fairly obvious refurbished is the way to go. I will surely lose a new ball long before I wear the cover enough that I would deem the ball unplayable. Thanks for the honest and informative content love the channel!

Half priced ProV1s are also very expensive for me. I'm just moving from $0.5 old balls to $1.5 Pinnacle Soft and similar ones. Frankly, at my level, unless a ball is, kind of dead, I can't really make out much difference at all.

I've been using top flights, cheap bucket. At first I missed the length I could get on the drive, but now I'm getting longer drives because the top flights are heavier so they bounce and roll more. I even greened a par 4 with one and out drove my buddies Pro V1, and Calloway by 20+ yards. I also think the Top Flights drop quicker, and that helps me from getting in the rough or over shooting the green. The top flights are affected less by the wind, which in Wyoming is a must have.
