You can change the white balance tone easily in the Z1's raw file though...

I was hoping to get a smaller camera for our team, but the fact that this camera cannot be used to produce a matterpak is a deal breaker for us. Thank you for this video, you saved me the money.

I'm just getting started on Virtual Tours world and bought a Ricoh Z1 to use with Matterport. Should arrive next thursday. I want get the Matterport Pro 2 camera asap but I'm quite broken now XD. Is the Z1 a decent starting point? I want offer my future clients (still have none for now) Zillow 3D tours for a lower price point and Matterport Tours for an higher price point. Thank you!

How does the larger matterport pro camera handle on the stairs? I've used the smaller cameras and sometimes the tripod barley fits on the stairs. Is using the larger Pro camera. challenge when dealing with stairs?

While more cumbersome, standard tripods give you much more capability on stairs because of its nature to extend in more ways than just one unlike the monopod style tripods you would use for devices like the Z1.

do any of the Theta cameras have the floor plan option? Are the measurements acurate?

i don't think since Z1 doesn't have any depth measurements, for now i don't have the option , i checked the measurements on a wall , there was a 5 cm difference on a 2 meters wall , so it's handy but not that accurate

Can you colour correct the ZI scans? That white balance is horrible.

Lol. You are right about that! I’m sure there is a way somehow but I’m not aware of it. I’ll look into and let you know what I find.

@@rep_hub Yes you can, just load the pano's into lightroom or whatever your raw editor is. Be sure you are shooting in raw on the Z1. Also, check out different 360 software other than matterport. Their software kinda sucks honestly and is super expensive (the hosting fees for a RE tog get out of control fast, especially if you do any commercial work). Check out metareal

Just what I been looking for used theta z1 with matterport for first time and I gotta say quality is lower then I thought it would be. I got used to using fuel fisheye plug-in with hdr. Produces excellent quality. Just ordered matterport pro 2 thinking it would be that level. But I don’t see much difference in model quality online

@@martinsuen3153 it actually has gotten better. I prefer the matterport now. The quality is still low when viewing on a iPhone or iPad but when viewing on a computer it’s much higher. Great camera though I use it more now

3rd Part companies will make a floorplan with a 360 camera.

You are right. There are other options, but matterport is a great option to kill 2 birds with 1 stone and reasonably priced at $15 and very accurate.

Jordan Nielsen yes agreed, I have all of them. I am just noting that there are companies that will make you a floorplan faster and cheaper than matterport from any camera. The accuracy is of course not as good from a 360

Haha, I could tell your bias from the beginning, its all about the white balance, forget the detail looking out the windows.

No bias, but a personal preference. Others may prefer crisp windows and less accurate white balance.... in that case take the Z1 and enjoy much faster modeling times :)

I've never really got the argument that you need to show up with certain gear to "look professional." Most drones these days are tiny little consumer level products.

Are we talking about drones here? when you charge 500$ for a service and show up with a tiny camera that costs less than that then yeah, the client might wonder if they shouldn't do things on their own next time, lol

@@digital.frenchy Most clients have no clue what gear you use. I switched to Sony and my clients had no idea, nor did they care. As you said, you're charging for a service, not how much your gear costs.

@@digital.frenchy This is not rocket science. Any client could do their own 360 Matterport tours. At one point it will get obvious. Real estate agents are doing this by themselfs. No chance for me to get into the business with only capturing spaces. They have the time it seems....

At the end of the day a vast majority don’t care about the quality difference.

This is obvious when I look at the photos of the real estates: The agents took them by themselfs with a simple mobile phone. They don't car about real estate photography at all.
