It's time for the first PS2 launch title in the challenge, Ridge Racer V! On Beating EVERY PS2 game ever, I beat game #53, which just so happens to be an arcade racer with a lot of fun to be had if you want it. Is it as good as Gran Turismo? Probably not, but it's still a riot!

If you're curious, some of the most notable unlockables in the game are a 99-lap endurance race around Sunny Beach, and a Pac-Man themed race where you drive as Pac-Man in a buggy and try to outrun Vespa-driving ghosts which each have their own driving behavior in order to slow you down. After you beat it, you unlock all of them to play in normal races and are awarded a Pac-Man-shaped trophy.

Ahhhh that’s so cool! Of course pac man and the ghosts get in here, and 99 laps? Sounds like a 24 hour race in GT

There is insane amount of secret cars in this game. I remember still getting new cars after thousands of miles and many, many years of gameplay later.

@@PS2orDie There are. It's almost ridiculous. Only 3 tracks, and rewards wait after years of play, but still no more tracks. Only reason i've done it has nothing to do with extra cars. I just like playcontrol on this game, so i drive around just to relax.

i've played ridge racer 3d, ridge racer 7, and this one. i loved the 3ds version especially since it was one of the few actually good 3ds racing games, the ps3 version was quite similar in terms of gameplay but it felt a little different and i'll have to try the ps2 version again since i didnt play it much. i got frustrated with the drifting as it was tedious cause you had to navigate a drift in a specific way or else you'd ram a wall.

Enjoyed watching you play this one! I don't have V (I'll check prices!) but I do have Ridge Racer 6 for 360 and R7 for PS3.
