that was such a great reaction, and you are so beautiful.there's not many songs that give such a powerful emotional response but i do have another one. check out the moody blues - nights in white satin. if unchained melody isn't the most powerful love song, nights in white satin is. you'll love it. guaranteed. as a matter of fact , as soon as you're done listening to it, you'll listen to it again.

Bobby Hatfield could blow 99% of the singers today right off the stage without hardly trying.
@smg85051

Many sang it before Bobby Hatfield, many sang it afterwards, but NONE ever came close to equaling his amazing rendition of Unchained Melody. Originally it was written for a 50's prison film called Unchained and it was sung by a prisoner yearning for his freedom and rejoining his true love. The film was a bomb, but the song became popular. No one is ever likely to equal Bobby's cover if Unchained, I doubt any opera star would want to try, they would just make it sound like opera. Thank you for your exquisite reaction! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bobby Hatfield is an icon supreme. He's probably the greatest singer of the 20th century bar none. And oh yes he reduces women's emotions into putty. The girl here is speechless. RIP Bobby

There are a couple of things I would like to point out: 1. The ease - he did not wince, strain, or gyrate all over the stage to distract you, and 2. Range - this was extremely, extremely wide and smooth. And there was no electronic apparatus available - inotherwards; this man had 200% talent. Where as today's 'singers' you wonder how much of there voice is REAL.

This was before Electronics could adjust your voice to sound how they need you to. This was REAL RAW Talent, I remember when this version came out my sisters would just keep repeat playing it for hours. Back when men would sing with emotion to women not speak a phrase at them. But it never gets old, Thanks for the memory's.

I am 81 and remember quite a few singers doing this but Bobby's tops them all. I was heading to Viet Nam when his version can out. I can feel the loneliness in every word. Bill and Bobby always did one solo on each of there albums and while on tour. They both wanted to do Unchained, so they flipped a coin. The music was written as the theme for the little-known prison film “Unchained” (January 1955), hence the song title. Todd Duncan sang the vocals for the film soundtrack. It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by the Righteous Brothers. The movie “Unchained” is about a man in prison and longing for his wife and children. Hoping his wife will still be there when he gets out. So you can now understand the meaning of the song. The movie was not very good, or so my friends told me. But we were all teenagers so what did we now. Several artists sang it and it made the billboard top 100. But no one can come close to Bobby Hatfield’s version. Bobby’s version hit the top ten chart. And did it again when it was used in the movie “Ghost” It has since become a standard and one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century, most notably by Bobby. According to the song's publishing administrator, over 1,500 recordings of "Unchained Melody" have been made by more than 670 artists, in multiple languages.

Mimi, Bobby's mother was in the audience that night and he really wanted to nail it for her.

Thank you, Mimi - as you said, he is "effortless" -- and this is LIVE -- I heard that he was nervous because his MOM was in the audience - most certainly she was proud!

Welcome to the music I grew up with. Music is one of the universal languages and the message of love is transcending. This came out when I was 10 and it still gives me gooseflesh along with a few others....it is like being serenaded by an Angel.....

Hello Mimi Michel when I was a teenager when this song came out I would go to Friday night dancing and slow dance with the girl I was with.While listening to this song that was being played at the end of the night. It was MAGICAL back then as it is today. I really enjoyed listening to it along with your reaction that gave me such a heart felt moment of that time era.

There was so many creative artists with such talent in that era that only the best made it to the top. In that era there was the Beach Boys, Four Seasons, Elvis, Otis Redding, Roy Orbison, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Dusty Springfield, Drifters, The Temptations and I could go on and on about different artists.

Clearly, you experienced the phenomenon of 'beyond words.' Deeper than words, larger than words, more profound than spoken language. Thank you.

TO BE PERFECTLY HONEST WITH YOU YOUNG LADY , THIS IS THE KIND OF MUSIC MY WIFE AND I GREW UP ON IN THE FIFTIES AND SIXTIES , EVERY ARTIST BACK IN THOSE DAYS POURED THEIR HEART AND SOUL INTO THEIR SONGS , WE GOT USED TO HEARING PERFORMANCES LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME , THATS WHY , I THINK ,WE CANNOT TAKE TO THE MUSIC OF TODAY , WOMAN WERE TREATED AND SUNG ABOUT WITH THE UTMOST RESPECT AND LOVE , NOT LIKE TODAY , WHERE THE FEMALE OBJECT OF SOME GUY IS CALLED A BITCH OR A HO I HOPE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM TELLING YOU , WE HAD RESPECT AND LOVE FOR OUR WOMEN BACK THEN , MY WIFE IS STILL MY WIFE EVEN AFTER ALMOST 55 YEARS STILL LOVE HER , THE SAME WAY I DID , 57 YEARS AGO WHEN I FIRST MET HER AND SHE LOVES ME ALSO , WORTH MORE THAN GOLD TO ME
