Unchained Melody was written in 1955 for a film titled “Unchained.” It was about an incarcerated man longing for his wife. Jonny sang it live for the Valentine’s Day tribute on the Andy Williams Show, hence the coral colored suit. He looked stunning. A spectacular performance. He owns this song. No auto tone adjustments. No dancing and back up singers. He just stood and delivered this splendid performance. I am an 80 y.o. lady and it still thrills me to hear him! 🥰

Thanks for allowing us to appreciate your reactions without interruptions (as so many reaction videos do, and ruin the vibe of the song). The lyrics about time going slowly is expressing his anxiety that time has changed his wife's love for him has faded, which is why the next line is "are you still mine."

What the world needs today is MORE Righteous Brothers, and LESS Cardi B. This Song is so romantic, and could be interpreted to fit so many different emotions., and situations. It is 100% cross cultural, and it actually engages you body , mind, heart, and soul. No fake auto tune, no fake artists, and no filth.

The song was originally written in 1948 and it was about a prisoner and a chain gang and was in the movie unchained. The brothers always did singles and their albums and both wanted to sing this they flip a coin and Bobby one Bill Medley after hearing him record it said he was glad he lost the flip

You should check out the Andy Williams show where he interviewed them before Bobby sang. You'll get a kick out of it......Also, their song, You've lost that loving feeling is the most requested and played song of the 20th century. If you listen to that song, you will understand why their music was called Blue Eyed Soul, especially when they do their back and forth. You'll know what I'm talking about when you hear it. Chow

@@Mac40581 Hi, Mac40581 ... ORIGINAL version of the then-untitled song (1935) was in a prison movie titled "Unchained." It served at that movie's love theme (a prisoner singing to, asking his main squeeze who he hasn't seen since he was put in jail, "has time changed your attitude toward me? Do you still want me in your life?" After 1935's movie, somebody thought the title of the tune should reflect its use -- the melody used in "Unchained" -- and labeled it, simply, "Unchained Melody."

BOBBY HATFIELD SUNG THIS SONG SOLO AS HE HAD THE GREATER VOCAL RANGE THAN BILL MEDLY HIS MUSICAL BROTHER. BOBBY SUNG THIS SONG SO SMOOTHLY, CALMLY, ROMANTIC WITH SOUL GRIPPING POWER AND SO BEAUTIFUL. IT WAS SIMPLY CLASSY, PURE AND CLEAN AND SO VELVETY. BOBBY RECORD VERSION OF THIS SONG WAS IN THAT FAMOUS FILM "GHOST" STARRING PATRICK SWAYZE AND DEMI MOORE. THIS SONG VERSION AND THAT FILM WERE A PERFECT MATCH I HAVE HEARD MANY VERSIONS OF THIS SONG, INCL ELVIS, DIAMOND, HUMPERDINCK AND OTHERS, BUT BOBBYS VERSION IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST. Back in the day we we had many men and women performers who could sing romantic love songs and had beautiful voices and the music had melody and wonderful instrumentation and arrangements that enhanced the their voices and the entire song. Nowadays it's just a bass back beat and boring Rap and Hip Hop that all sounds the same. So sad these younger people now don't have that, but they can have the same music from the 1960's if they just search for it.
