"Rise! Rise!" - Scottish Jacobite Song [+Lyrics]

This song references the Jacobite risings in the early and mid-eighteenth century, calling all Scots to join in the action of the rebellion. Jacobitism is a movement that supports the restoration of the senior line of the House of Stuart to the British throne, rather than the House of Hanover. This song was recorded by The Corries on their album Barrett’s Privateers, released in 1987.

I especially love the line “men of the mountains, descendants of heroes”. I found out i’m related to William Wallace almost directly through the Blair of that Ilk clan. Makes it all the more special.

Jacobitism has almost nothing to do with Scottish independence. Calling Jacobitism Scottish is a dismissing the noble Irish french and English who died of Culloden Muir.

The rebellions were not about 'independence' they were about putting the rightful Stuart kings back on the united throne of Britain. The one they created.
