Funny, but watching this I don't feel like cheering. Old Riverfront Stadium was a special place. It seems wrong to listen to people cheer it's destruction.
@djshepherd91513 жыл бұрын
I think that they're less cheering at the destruction, and more cheering at the fact that the engineers who designed the demolition did it right, and that the building actually collapsed as designed instead of doing something wonky like standing half-up.

It is sad I never got to be alive to go to a game at Cinergy Field I was only 2 years old when they imploded it sad to rewatch a historic 30 years period come to an end I wish I was alive to see it in person.

Thank you! The Big Red Machine, the days of the consecutive World Series Championships were wonderful memories. A VERY expensive stadium was built for a team who now can't hit the broad side of a barn with a cow chip! This IS sad!

I agree why do people cheer ? This was a ballpark that saw the Reds win 5 Pennats and Three WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. Two All-Star Games, Aaron's 714 th home run,Perfect Games,No-Hitters,Rose's 4192 Historic Hit and countless other Major League Baseball's historic cornerstone events. Why cheer when this grand old lady dies?

I miss Riverfront. I went there with my family for the first third of my life, and the remaining two thirds have been spent at Great American (which I’ve never been too fond of).

I for one was not excited to see Riverfront stadium imploded!! I have SOOOOO MANY MEMORIES at that stadium, as did many folks! GABP is a real nice ballpark and everything eventually has to be updated, just wish Riverfront could have been updated and the team stayed in there!
@djtrumpet1114 жыл бұрын
When Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was demolished, nobody cheered. The Braves had a lot of memories from that stadium including but not limited to Hank Aaron's record breaking homer, 1995 world series game, etc. I almost got a chance to see a game there in 1993 just before I turned 5 but the tickets were sold out I think so we went to Six Flags instead. I'm sure the Reds have a lot of memories because they have had great teams in the past. No need to cheer.

I still don't understand people cheering the demolition of a building where they shared so many memories. I understand progress but if I were there I'd be sad - it would be like watching a funeral or something. To hear jerks cheering would really piss me off.
@frenchfrey6514 жыл бұрын
@davidbfitz I think they cheer because implosions are so cool to watch! I think the big reason why Cincinnatti wanted those new stadiums for the Reds and Bengals was because River Front was not only out of date, but to everyone else it's the most boring looking stadium ever made! Even the Oldest football fields and Baseball parks still had a nice design, but look at this! It's so bland you would have no idea what played there!

Man. All the "COOKIE CUTTER"!!!! stadiums from the mid 60`s thru the early seventies went in succession: FULTON COUNTY STADIUM was 1st, then in no particular order THREE RIVERS,BUSCH MEMORIAL,VETERANS STADIUM. I won`t include SHEA ,because somebody took a "BITE"!!!!! of that apple out in left,center, & right field. Tho PITTSBURGH had more glory. RIVERFRONT to me had the best "APPEAL"!!! even tho I`m from CHICAGO. BIG RED MACHINEs` WORLD SERIES` championships & playoff appearances, as well as the BENGALS` 2 SUPER BOWL appearances in `81 &`88. I still say Kenny Anderson is still the best qb 2 put on the black & orange. Those orange stripes r "FRIGID" cool!!!!!!

Don't care about memories, excuse me? The fuckin' Big Red Machine played in that stadium. If they weren't Reds fans, they wouldn't have shown up. Riverfront, or any other cookie-cutter stadium, had nice memories, but they were so ugly, and by '02 so obsolete, why not change. The memories are nice, but at the same time, I wouldn't want the Reds to play in a stadium like that forever. You just have to move on at some point. Besides, GABP is a better looking ballpark anyway.
@matthewellert13997 жыл бұрын
MrCincinnatian yes. And the views across the river is nice too. The only thing is that they treat the stadiums like shit. You look at the half ass welding jobs and it is cringy

This was clearly a terrorist attack, which makes me very suspicious as to why the people there were counting down and cheering. They should have been detained for questioning.
