Bernard Lock Nice! Good year! 94 and forward they have mass air flow (MAF) sensors instead of speed density. MAF is easier to make horsepower. Thanks man! I appreciate it! 🤙 I’m glad I can help ya out! I’m always here to answer questions.

Steve, I know I have missed seeing you work on your truck and posting videos, welcome back. I have had some set backs that are lessons to be learned. Thermostat housing, I broke it and the completed dash cracked again. So, back to square one. Thermostat housing fixed with new 180 thermostat. Am going to work on dash and kick panels. Put new power brake booster in and going to put new master cylinder on. Welcome back and thank you for your videos.

J. R. Thompson Thanks JR! It feels good to be back at it. I’m not part of the “essential workers” group in this pandemic. I don’t know when, I’ll get shut down. So I’ve just been trying to conserve funds as much as possible. Living in an apartment makes work on my truck a little more challenging too. I’ll try to keep the videos coming though! Wow! What part of your dash broke! Good! It’s always nice to have a plan forward when things don’t go well. Keep it up JR! That’s going to be one nice truck when you are finished!🤙 You are most welcome JR! Stay safe!

Minute master , and everybody else included . Although threaded inserts or "threaded rivets' are great in some cases . If used on thin guage metal there is less contact with the splines and can and will strip out if repeatedly taken apart ,heck they can even spin while tourqeing to just a few inch lbs . That being said if they strip out with the bolt in it you are in for a nightmare trying to cut them out to get the mirrors or anything fastend with inserts . A nut fed on thru the inside door frame with angled pliers works way beter and you dont have to worry about the insert letting go ever . I put in hundreds of inserts per day . While a great idea if you cant get a nut to where the bolt is going to . Its a bad idea in a spot like this .
@muliechaser1618
@muliechaser1618 4 жыл бұрын
Also using a nut on the inside will cost you literally a few cents versus whatever the gun and inserts will cost you .and youll never have an insert spin out on you costing you even more time and money

mulie chaser Good point man! There was a nut on the inside with a bolt threaded threw. The trouble is when you go to unbolt the mirror the nut falls inside the door. Granted that happened to me because I didn’t know the previous owner attached the mirror that way. I should be good with this repair though. 18 gauge door steel is pretty strong and I only hand tighten the bolts. Thanks for watching man!🤙

I don’t see, why not. Although just make sure your roof is strong enough, because the wind resistance could flex steel.

3rd Coast OBS Thanks man! 🤙 I bought this rivet but took from Amazon for $30. The brand is called TACKLIFE. It comes with 6 rivet nuts per thread size. If you need more rivet nuts order them at the same time. I used 1/4-20 stainless steel rivet nuts for this project. A bag of 50 was $12.

The rivet tool doesn't look cheap. How much did that cost? I hope you and the missus make lots of new friends in your new apartment. I remember moving out on my own and how much I cherish those friends looking back. Be safe.

Camas If I remember correctly is was around $30 from amazon. It’s a no name brand tool. I came across rivet tools and the one I really wanted was over $100 from Grainger. This one is called Tacklife. The only down side is you can’t find spare parts or adapters for it. Thank you Camas! We definitely will!🤙 You stay safe too!

@@TheMinuteMasters There seems to be a certain degree of "yes, but it's obviously less than taking it to a body shop" triangulation here. I'd worry that I had bought a single tasker that I wouldn't use again and have to find space to store. Wait! Milwaukee doesn't make them? :p
@TheMinuteMasters
@TheMinuteMasters 4 жыл бұрын
Camas I agree. It does sit on the shelf more often than not. I’ve used it at least four times since I’ve owed it. I’m not sure if that justifies the purchase but it’s definitely solved a couple of problems for me. Nope! Lol I wish!

Hello there MM just and out of the blue question. I was wondering if all your grounds on your truck are still in tacked still? I have a 96 ford f150 4.9 inline 6 and I noticed on the (PS) on the frame there was a braided green ground strap that is just hanging there the clip still attached but no signs of where the other piece is or where it was attach to.i been searching around and haven't found a good source yet. The grounds that I have listed seem to be still in tacked though I have counted four one on the firewall on the (PS) towards the top. Then there's one closest to the battery on the (PS) at the top of the fender close to the headlight assembly. Then there's one on the (DS) by the headlight & radiator. I also noticed one of the negative wires coming off the battery post runs down to the frame where the wire is then stripped and goes through a hole on this clip that has this hole through it with a bolt that secures it to the frame. The braided wire that was stripped back I was thinking maybe thats where that ground goes that was just hanging there but wasn't sure. I have Haynes Manual but I haven't found anything in there describing the grounds. Now my battery light is on it was also coming on intermediate while I was driving it. But wouldn't stay on as it's staying on when the truck is started now. I had the charging system tested at the big threeAutozone,O'Reilly,Advance. As they said everything passed. So I wasn't satisfied so i took the alternator out and had them test that individually just to see if it would make any difference in the readings. The alternator passed. My battery was also acting up so I went and return yet another battery with a new battery I had them test it before leaving and it all passed with good numbers. Then I had my starter act up as I replaced that. The internal gear wasn't spinning which ended up going up in a smoke show. I also did look at all the wiring I followed the negative and positive wiring which ran to the starter and both leads the positive and negative they were in good condition. The signal wire was not in good condition so I ended up running a new 12 gauge wire from starter relay to the starter. New battery,New starter,New alternator,New serpentine belt,New signal wire ran now am at a stand still with my battery light on

Saleen Mustang I can definitely check my truck and see where that passenger side ground attaches and let you know. Otherwise, I would have your codes read. You have a 96 so it could be OBD2, which can be read at any auto parts store. If it’s OBD1 you will need to buy an OBD1 code reader. They sell them at most big name auto parts stores. The import plug is on the inside of the driver’s side fender of the engine bay. The codes could tell you a lot.

@@TheMinuteMasters Much appreciated man. I looked in my repair manual towards the back in the wiring diagrams. I looked at all the possible areas where the grounds should be. The one end is still attached to the chassis/frame of the truck with a clip But the other end of the ground is gone so it's just hanging there attached to the frame/Chassis of the truck. Not to mention the ground wire looks and feels brittle. I'd rather just replace it with a new ground wire or ground strap but I haven't seen where I could buy them. But the one on the (PS) directly down from the battery and the radiator cap is my issue I noticed. It said in the manual it's suppose to be attached somehow to the lower radiator support. I looked and didn't see were it could possibly attach to.
@TheMinuteMasters
@TheMinuteMasters 4 жыл бұрын
Saleen Mustang No problem! Technically you could use any copper jacketed wire for a ground wire. However, you would need to buy a multi copper strand wire and not solid copper. The grounds are held onto the frame with clips but you could use any attachment method. You could crimp an eyelet on the end of the ground wire and then screw it to the rad support.

I also forgot to mention i dont have any readable codes that I can read on the truck. I did when I had my pigtail that goes to the thermostat housing unplugged when I was replacing the metal pipe fiting that was pitted and rusty along with a new water pump bc they didn't sell the other pipe that goes into the water pump. The only codes I had was a P0125 for coolant temp then P0102 for Mass or volume air flow circuit low input. But I rechecked after everything was put back together and there was no codes. Just wondering if you ever had a problem with any of your starter's when you replaced them. With the starter staying engaged while the truck is started? First time this has happened to me with a starter not disengaging when the truck is started.my end result the starter ended up going up in smoke bc it got so hot. The little wire that's connected on to the solenoid on the started ended up melting.

I have some extra 12 gauge wire i had left over from replacing my signal wire from.the starter to the fender solenoid. i was going to use for the ground but didn't know it that would be suitable.
