Honestly, it baffles me how the whole chalked cast team thinks it's a good Idea to remove car standardization. Johnny comparing it to real sports teams having different players while we already have those (they're called the players) makes me think he didn't completely recover from last night. I feel like adding pick and ban of cars with different attributes would be like having a pick and ban of shoes before a football game, which is crazy. In my opinion, what makes rocket league great is how close it is to a real sport.

maybe in unranked modes? standard cars in ranked/pro play is a must though

I do not like the idea of cars having their own varied stats. I think one of the things that makes this esport unique and better amongst esports is that the devs determine absolutely nothing about how the meta pans out, and how you play at the top level is completely dependent on what other players are discovering and choosing to do. Introducing stats introduces balancing issues and all sorts of complaints about "nerf this car" etc that I think completely sucks about other competitive games. The game has evolved an incredible amount since it was released just by virtue of people grinding and discovering. I'd hate for that to get subverted by dev interference.

Car stats is pretty stupid tbh, as everyone says. How it is takes away OP and P2W complaints. This way it's all about skill

One thing I'm a little concerned about with the boost update is teammates not respecting fakes (as Johnny pointed out) - for example sometimes it's good to fake that you have boost and take a challenge, and I'm worried that teammates will see I don't have boost and just commit with me and throw the play off. Haven't played yet since the update though.

that is one specific situation out of hundreds of situations where knowing your teammates boost is a good thing. it doesn't just help you, it helps your teammates that aren't aware of your boost management (for better or for worse).

Had a 3 hour session last night and this actually happened to me multiple times where I was on the wall with zero boost just trying to fake the opponent to go early and my teammate must have seen I had no boost and just drove up the wall behind me to cover, luckily It didn't lead to any goals

Instead of cars with different attributes we should go the Counter Strike route and do maps with different dimensions and attributes and then we can have certain teams specializing in certain maps

Adding an underglow part to the car customization would be sick. The underglow part could flash a pulse of light when you get a flip reset.

Car Standardization makes RL one of the only esports where every player has access to the exact same resources, and the skill is all based on the players themselves.

I think the best thing about this Esport is that it's completely fair and standard, everybody starts with the same amount of boost, have the same amount of boostpads, same hitboxes, same amount of teammates etc etc, just go into the game and the best team wins, all about skill and chemistry, no OP cars, no meta adjustments due to devs choice of updates. It's the opposite of other games in which maybe the storm closes miles off you, so a worse player wins, maybe this gun is too op, this character needs a nerf etc etc, RL is just all about natural development of the meta and I love it. Sure, use it in a game mode, that would be fun, don't bring it into the Esport.

The nameplate being the boost is good but it should take over the entire name plate or something like that. I don't mind the HUD idea too

I’d like to see some passive boost regeneration or the addition of some pads that contains 25-35 boost. Albeit, it would make boost management slightly less important, but not too much,l. I think it would make the game more fun to have a little bit more boost in the game

I could see removing car standardisation working, but it'd need to be implemented extremely carefully. Personally, I think the best way to do something like this would be to simply make the hitboxes of each car match more closely with its model. If the Dominus hitbox were actually as long as the car itself, you'd naturally generate more angular momentum when you flip, which would let the Dominus hit the ball harder naturally - if the player understood how to use the car.

Hopefully this incentivizes increased efficient use of team quickchats after kickoffs. Or perhaps a new feature could be implemented where we can have certain critical quickchats make a slightly more noticeable icon flash near chat, things like I got it, faking, bumping, etc so you didn't have to read chat while playing. Instead you could still be focused on reading the ball and see out of the corner of your eye "oh a flashing orange explosion icon, my teammate is going for a bump so I'll just take a safe shot straight at net" or something like that. And if someone uses this to troll you can just mute them and it mutes these icons too. Seems on the surface like a low-risk easy feature to try out but I'm not a programmer so idk.

The problem with changing the car stats is that devs get the power to change the meta to force the best cars to be locked behind a $20 paywall. Map dimension changes, ceiling boosts, goal size, etc. should be the things to change, not changes that reduce skill ceiling.

19:45 So after having played a few games with the boost indicators: Yes, it is really easy to see and keep track of how much boost your mates have left. It allows me to relax a little more during the games, knowing I don't need to do calculations in my head to keep track. The only issue I encountered is that it seems to have a delay of around 0.2s (like when your mate picks up boost it doesn't update instantly). Could just be my connection of course, but I usually have around 8-15 ping so I'll have to see if the delay remains.

Car standardization is awesome. No need to bastardize the game and add P2W elements along with the stupid "this character is OP", "this chatacter needs nerfs!" debates to rocket league. The better player wins and thats all that matters. No stupid artificial buffs given by certain cars lmao

I keep saying that they should add a car rotation, every few days they change the cars you should play with, if you don't have the car, they give it for free while the rotation is on, or you can buy it from the shop if you really like it. RL is fun but yeah, but they don't do anything about the game being the same for so many years.

I feel like if they changed the cars stats they would need to do it in the RLCS off season so they can tweak the stats and make them good before it affects pro play

Unless they fix lag resets, which they almost certainly wont, they wont add a flip reset indicator. If the indicator isnt accurate there's no reason to add it.

I feel like if they added different attributes to different car, there would also need to be a ranked overhaul (ranked 2.0) since the skill criteria would be different

Flip indicators would kind of kill the skill of being able to read what a successful reset vs an unsuccessful reset looks like. Highly skilled players don’t need the tool because they can already tell by reading the game’s mechanics. An indicator would just eliminate one of the skills required to reach the top level of the game, which is an inclusion that I’m not personally interested in. Also, I say this as someone who has gotten frustrated over misreading my own resets more times than I can count.

one downside I see with different cars having different attributes is that org decals will have to fit more cars, otherwise people will still run the octane and fennec or they just won't by the decal because they won't use the octane or fennec.

I don't like the individual car differences - or not in the way you've stated them. You end up with the problem lots of esports have where you need to learn 50 different characters before you can play the game. If they keep it reeeeaallly simple and don't make it too broad then maybe. The major risk is the game can become reliant on constant rebalancing of cars. Do you really think they will balance often enough?

If Rocket League starts to have abilitys per car, it will become another of those games overly filled with have-to knowledge that many dont want to deal with. I myself probably wont come back to the game as a casual GC2 player that plays once or twice a week cause I would have to learn things in this game that dont interest me at all. I think that Rocket League doesnt have this stuff makes it so returnable for a casual player without getting frustrated about falling behind.
