After all, it's all in the name of helping these regions improve, who cares if it costs them their own spots in international events? I agree that it's a good idea to help out SSA improve its general player ability, but letting other regions take away their opportunities is not the solution. Send EU (or any other region really) teams to SSA to scrim? Great idea. Bring some SSA teams over to EU (or any other region really) to get them playing against a deeper playerbase? Love the idea. But you cannot have SSA just being a "5th seed" for some other bigger region (in reality it's more like EU's 17th seed at best). It destroys the entire point of having the region in the first place. "We want to help out the SSA teams" say the EU/MENA invaders while they actively hurt the region. At best it's short-sighted, and at worst it's blatantly hypocritical.

@@isaakvandaalen3899 No EU team would ever be willing to scrim SSA teams. They gain nothing from it. And SSA teams won’t come in EU just to get obliterated by D-tier EU teams. So you’re just going to have an useless region (which is already the case) and we will wonder why we even add them in the first place. SSA and APAC don’t deserve major spots. They don’t deserve to be called a region in the first place. There is simply not enough talent there. If you absolutely wants those regions to work because you’re like « OMG it’s so great RL is a global esport now » you need to accept that these regions need to be challenged by bigger region (EU/NA) and that you’re not gonna force EU player to challenge this region with nothing in return. 2/3 rule would be an ok addition but completely banning transfer is like giving to a child birth and then let him starve to death. It will simply kill the « region ».

@@martingarrox5810 I agree 2/3 rule is also a good idea. I also agree that in practise, there is simply not much incentive for EU teams to scrim with SSA teams. I'm not sitting here claiming to have a perfect solution. SSA is simply the weakest region, and it's not really even their fault. Economically speaking, the solutions which would be the best for the region are likely unrealistic. Probably the most realistic solution would be for competitive SSA teams to move to / scrim against other regions (Not even necessarily EU) in order to get stronger opponents. Still, regardless of what happens, I stand by what I said: Having non-SSA teams making up the entirety of the SSA top 8 is a problem and something needs to change.
