He wasn't trash talking the Prelude. He was just saying, "It was a market flop" meaning that it's sales figures were rather poor compared to other Honda's. "Market flop" is different then saying, "Total Failure". For example, the Chevy SS was also a market flop at time of release. Now it's one of the most sought after used cars. Calling a car a market flop is just factual, but it's not saying that the car itself was horrible. It just means people didn't appreciate it enough at release to purchase it, but chances are, they may come to like it later down the line. The fact that people interpret any statement said about their car waifu as an insult, really just blows me away.

That Hard braking concept is truly ingenious. Vehicles with rear wheel steering could also be fitted with bigger rear disk brakes but steering during hard braking could cause the inner rear Tyre to poop out.

This movie is just amazing! I wish my teachers in the University (in Ukraine) would explain me their subjects in the way you do in your show. Great job, probably one of the best show I've ever seen (as close to "How it's made" as only possible), keep doing that. It's very informative and fascinating, I just love it! Thank you so much. Don't be so surprise if you see those movies translated in Russian somewhere in KZfaq)

1:44 simple physics, pivot is more nearer to the back than the front based on the turning radius of the back wheels
@Vylkeer
@Vylkeer 6 жыл бұрын
This will certainly mean lesser maneuver hassle in tight corners, especially with big cars or cars that previously had a narrow turning radius. I read that the latest Porsche 911 incorporates this system and I thought I was reading it wrong because the only thing I thought could be rear was the traction. Pretty remarkable!

What happens when there is a very gentle curve on the highway. Going at high speed how does it distinguish a lane change to a gentle curve?
@tbrew622
@tbrew622 6 жыл бұрын
Ron T the rear wheels pivot a lesser degree. At highway speeds lane changes are not quite a "crab walk" so to speak. But the turning is softened. Very useful for towing. Reduces sway astronomically. 03 gmc sierra denali. Wont buy a new truck til they put quad steer in it. Even if it means going to a ford.

I don't know about these modern systems but I understand that the Prelude turned the rear wheels in the "high speed" direction for small steering wheel angles and in the "low speed" direction as the steering angle increased. Just a simple mechanical linkage. Say perhaps up to 1/4 turn of the wheel it does "high speed", then as the wheel turns more it goes to neutral and finally further turning moves the rear in the "low speed" direction. Could well be exactly the same today. For ordinary drivers, those not practiced in sliding cars about and general hooligan driving, the benefit is that it becomes much less easy to spin down the Interstate if a sudden maneuver is required. This though will already have been reduced or eliminated by modern computerized stability control systems that selectively apply braking to augment stability so 4ws has probably no real safety case today.

It would be less likely for that to happen as the rear wheels are steering away from the curb. Say you're in the US and you make a right turn, the curb is to the right of the car, your front wheels are steering the front towards it but the rear wheels are steering the rear end away from the curb.

You could still turn and correct with rear wheels opposing front, just take a bit less steering, it wouldn't be much different, maybe more elegant to have the freedom to essentially make the car move diagonally (would certainly make parallel parking in those tight spaces a lot simpler, especially if the wheels could get close to 90 degrees allowing you to line up and go near sideways) having the option to manually select the steering mode appropriate for the manoeuvre you want to make from the steering wheel would be a great feature as then regardless of speed you could pick the most appropriate, all wheel opposed or all wheel in synch, maybe rear wheels locked if necessary, a simple push pull lever would suffice, heck if you're really advanced it could be a slider that can adjust the degree of opposition or synchronisation with fixed real wheel in the middle so you can choose how tight your turn is or how much your you turn versus move diagonally intuitively as automatic systems, while good for inexperienced drivers don't always make the right choice as the automatic courtesy car I drove for a week proved, one minute I'm accelerating onto a main road and the engine is roaring, next I'm turning onto an uphill and it's up-shifting, found myself reaching for the non-existent gear stick!

All you gotta do is add throttle and it will down shift it’s very easy to control auto transmissions you can make them shift whenever you want u just have to learn what throttle inputs the transmission reacts to like if it up shifts but right when it does you need to go back into the lower gear you just push the pedal down about halfway and it will downshift I just don’t like when people say you can’t choose the gears in an auto matic yes you can lol you might not be able to redline 2nd and go straight to 6th but you can up/down shift whenever you want

Then it can cut short turning radius dramatically in whichever direction you want to turn it will amplify it several times like 10m turning radius can be achieved in 3m but you should do it at very low speeds and being fully aware of the changed driving dynamics to take place.

you do not need rear wheel steering - if you take your lines in the turn from the rear wheels instead of the from wheals it will achieve the same rezolt with excellent balance and control of the car and its weight distribution ... the rear is what holds your car in the turn , the front wheels are rather misleading ...

thats mean ? high speed cant make a corner ? racing ?
@wanderingbufoon
@wanderingbufoon 4 жыл бұрын
In racing, high speed corners are done by clipping. If it's a sharp corner, you most likely will be slowing your car down enough to get the active/dynamic rear steering to steer inversely instead of parallel. Also, if you are going for racing, tuning is a must and therefore your handling must also be tuned. That means aero, steering, bigger and sturdier tyres and suspension will be modded If you want to hit a sharp corner at a higher speed, you'll just have to configure your equipment for those speeds. If you don't have the downforce, you can't make the turn. If you don't have the grip, you can't make the turn. etc. So even if you do tune your active rear wheel steering to cut short turns, you might end up blowing the tyres or suspension up or flexing the car or flipping the car entirely.

Very incomplete explanation. It does not always steer in the opposite direction of the front wheels at low speeds and in the same direction at high speeds. it also works with the ESC to control under-steer (by steering in the opposite direction of the front wheels) and over-steer (by steering in the same direction of the front wheels), this makes the car corner faster and more safely, unlike ESC that usually only improve safety but makes the car slower if you want to corner as fast as possible, and stabilizes the car while braking by conter-steering with the rear wheels allowing the car to break harder and still going straight witch reduces braking distances by a lot when traction is very diferent between right and left wheels.
@738polarbear
@738polarbear 5 жыл бұрын
Your answer is wrong . Oversteer normally occurs on cars that drive the rear wheels and happens when the car is turning and the driver applies more power than the tyres can deal with. This makes the tyres slip and try to push in the opposite direction to the turn, kicking the back end of the car out.Apr 13, 2015 . Rear wheel steering does NOT correct tire slip. So there .Otherwise you could not drift in one of these cars AND YES YOU CAN.
