Their brain functions simply have to grade so much that they're a little more than an animal, but the person Is potentially there and they see the whole world Non-Infected humans as a vision of hell And I like to imagine the hunter pretty much had these nightmarish living fever dreams but theirs were much worse that they clawed out their own eyes But in the comic some didn't claw out their own eyes but others did in the games

I think that the hunter's screams are a form of social engineering. By screaming, they can make humans talk (calling out "hunter" , screaming back, etc.), or make distinct noises by panicking (arming a self-defense tool or running). this makes them easier to track targets using hearing.

I could see the hunter having unrestricted muscle contractions, and due to their reinforced bones, muscles, and ligaments they don't tear their bodies to shreds when they do so. It also makes sense that they would be able to use 100% of their lung capacity to fuel the stronger contractions with an increased heart rate. This would result in the hunter having far greater strength, and speed allowing them to jump 30ft in the air regularly as though it was perfectly normal.

I've actually noticed something similar. I have developmental prosopagnosia, which means I'm face blind. I have a hard time recognizing myself in pictures or even loved ones, but my ability to differentiate and recognize voices is pretty unmatched. It's not an issue with the sense itself, I can see perfectly fine (better than most), but it's still a great example of the body doing what it do and adapting. Neural plasticity, man.

@godqueenbidoof4 жыл бұрын
here was a hypothesis that the hunter's torn clothing in l4d2 compared to l4d was due to overheating. That the effort and metabolism had been ramped up so much they had to strip some clothing to not overheat and that's why the arms are exposed. After all it isn't that long after l4d since in l4d2 you can see Bill's body on a generator before the bridge

I would like to point out that imo, his hunting state is actually the normal walk. Why? Well, you said that hearing is an important part of his kit. So his senses shut everything up about him. His footsteps, breathing, erratic noises etc. That way he can focus on things away from him without being distracted by his own body. When he crouches, is not a hunting state anymore, he is sure of where he is going and it reminds me of how a jaguar roars right after pouncing after its prey. I believe that explains the removal of the shoes too. He ripped them off to silence his footsteps. Great video! Hunter is my favorite
@greengarnish17113 жыл бұрын
I believe the shoes slipped off overtime given how much jumping the hunter does but that works out for him in the end like you said.

@@diegodevars4618 I mean there is proof, just look at the hunter from L4D1. It's only been 2 weeks at that point and specials started appearing 3-4 days before the No Mercy timeline so it's safe to say that since the Hunter has shoes on they dont really care much for clothing. Not to mention that he could be blind or rather short-sighted since the hoodie decreased his sight overtime then turning towards other senses like mentioned in this video.
@EnderalRocks4 жыл бұрын
The lack of clothing can most likely be explained by 1. The time of infection and 2, The climate around them, LFD2 takes place in a much hotter area, so maybe they scratched it off.

I always like to imagine that the virus changed(or evolved) the hunters body similar to that of a caracal/lynx for leaping and its hands and feet to that of a squirrel for climbing. The way it begins to stalk before it leaps is probably it calculating on where to jump and how far prey is. They might have the righting reflex and land on there hands and feet and flex their back to absorb the shock of impact like a cat. The development of claws could be for climb surfaces without the risk of falling, as in some beta code they were suppose to hang upside down(maybe they can even rotate their legs 180° like a raccoon so they can climb down as well). I'm probably thinking to much into it lol
@theshermantanker70434 жыл бұрын
Here's my 2 cents on this, since I'm early I would think that aerobic enzymes like Citrate Synthase would be expressed more in the muscle of the hunter, while the Myosin Isoform of the hunter, especially in the legs, would shift towards the IIb Type, after all, adding muscle mass is but just one way of increasing strength, and I'm pretty sure to achieve such high leaps the hunter is capable of, adding muscle mass alone isn't going to cut it. Increasing the mechanical efficiency of the Calcium Pumps and Crossbridges within the muscle would explain part of why the hunter is so strong and has such high endurance, since less energy is needed to generate the same amount of force as in normal muscle, due to less energy being lost during contraction, more of which is converted to force. The falls the hunter can sustain, even with technique, is massive, and probably points to microstructure improvements in the Haversian architecture of Cortical and Cancelleous Bones, in addition to increased density and decreased Osteoclast activity, allowing bones to take massive amounts of trauma such as falls, and hey, bullets and all sorts of melee weapons too! Lastly I suspect the tendons of the leg muscles have reattached out further on the bone they are connected to, giving the muscle larger mechanical advantage, reducing the force required to jump a certain height and hence increasing maximum jump height Also, isn't it the Reactive Oxygen Species and Phosphates that caused issues and not Lactic Acid?

I know this is quite late, but I want to point out a secondary reason why the hunters will scream when finding pray. Much like tasmanian devils it could be to alert other zombies to the location of the survivor, to food. Some species like to alert others of their species to the presence of food. Like ants and as said before tasmanian devils. This helps the species survive and grow as more of them get food. The hunters also appear as a group at times further driving this hypothesis as wolf's display similar behavior, (barking, growling) I thought I would share this.

About echolocation; Few years back, I have seen a video what has stated about some soldiers in CQC (close quarters combat) scenarios having trained themselves to do echolocation with tongue clicking. For how I can personally analyze this info: - Creating echoes in tight spaces/corridors sounds plausible - Requires the environment to be tight space with not much echo cancelling decorations/furniture - Longer distances would not make it work, since soldiers have the career based hazards for hearing due to guns - If the virus in L4D can enhance adaptibility, the hunter without having suffered from sound hazards might have adapted for listening echoes from his surroundings ...but oh well, these are just my thoughts (and I need to re-find my sources of info for clarity)... 😑

I love that he almost refers to our bodies as "meat suits". As if the skeleton is who we are. The Skeleton War is coming.

Speaking of Hunters, it would be interesting to see you cover the Night Hunter infected the player can play as in the game Dying Light

I walk more than 10km daily during my bachelor years. After graduating I rarely walk more than a few km a day, mostly using a car to get anywhere, and rarely did any extensive exercises (aka just being a couch potato). However, when I need to walk a long distance such as during my travels, my legs never really hurt that much and I could recover from sprains and fatigue within a day.
