Netflix or HBO max needs to make this into a series

The GREATEST novel EVER written!! My buddy gave this to me in the late 80s and I read it through without putting it down but just once. I just started it again for the 5th time or so. I read it in the winter so I'm acclimated to their situation.

One of my favorite books of all time. Thank you I enjoyed this book my whole life. I go back every few years and still find enjoyment. The characters come to life for me.

This book had a big impact on me when I first read it as a teenager. A few decades have passed, and I'm currently reading it for the second time. I was worried that it might just be nostalgia that made me remember it so fondly, but that is not the case at all. It is just as great a read now as I remember it from my youth, maybe even more so. I am sort of grateful I waited so long to read it again, as I have forgotten quite of bit of the details, so it's almost as if I'm reading it for the first time. I wish I could make it down to Alabama and pick up one of those limited edition copies.

I read it in my early twenties and I still think about it at 47 years old. I was just considering giving it another read as well.

One of my favorite books. I first read it in 1987 as a 23-year old and I absolutely loved it. It reminded me a lot of another great post apocalyptic book called _The Stand,_ written by Stephen King, some years earlier. Now I have just completed reading it for the second time, a couple of months away from my 60th birthday and like you, I forgot a lot of stuff in it. So, it was almost like reading it for the first time for me as well. What a gifted writer this man is.

I just purchased my copy after all this time! This book mean so much to me... I really owe Rick an inexplicable amount of gratitude for leading me back to reading and the magical world of books when I was in a really messed place in my life, being tossed around in the system (foster care). It also was the only thing (apart from Imajica by Barker) that I could disappear back into when both of my parents passed. Seriously, he is an insanely talented writer, who has created some of the greatest stories the genre has seen. I can't express how grateful I am to now own a limited Dark Harvest and Subterranean Press edition! These two books will always be my most prized possessions...

Don't miss "Blue World," his collection of short stories. "Night Calls the Green Falcon" was my favorite in that ensemble.

McCammon is the William Faulkner of Horror and a damned good mystery writer.

Without a doubt the most amazing post-apocalyptic story out there! Highly recommend the book and audio book which is very well narrated. Would make a great series. HBO, NETFLICKS or Japanese Anime studio this would be a winning hit! Hope the right person is exposed to the story someday to see it come to the screen. Great epic story.

Most thrilling and best book of the genre I have ever read. One of the best books for any genre that I have read. I hope to see a film of it made before I die.

There are quite a few books by this author that are good. Obviously, Swan Song--a book that many compare to King's, The Stand but which I think is a much better book because in places where King was not able to write scenes, between Mother Abigail and Flagg for example. His other wonderful reads are Wolf's Hour (werewolves in WW2), Night Boat (haunted German sub), and especially, Boy's Life. I will not tell you anything about Boy's Life only that it is a MUST read. Wonderfully written and it leaves a lingering memory that you will never forget.
